It would probably be easier, but I was given another solution on IRC; you should file a bug against the port. geekosaur: indeed, this is why we've been telling everyone to check for gcc-4.2's existence and depend on apple-gcc42 if needed so the port is doing the wrong thing, and you should be able to work around by "sudo port install apple-gcc42". -- brandon s allbery allber...@gmail.com wandering unix systems administrator (available) (412) 475-9364 vm/sms ___ macports-users mailing list macports-users@lists.macosforge.org http://lists.macosforge.org/mailman/listinfo.cgi/macports-users

Unsupported compiler error when building MacVim
I'm attempting to install MacVim on a Mac Mini (os = Lion) The build process is failing. From the log is some of the (hopefully) relevant error messages: ## :info:build Compiler: /Developer/usr/bin/gcc-4.2 :info:build Reason: /Developer/usr/bin/gcc-4.2 -v -E -dM -arch x86_64 -x c -c /dev/null 2>&1 :info:build === BUILD NATIVE TARGET PSMTabBarControlFramework OF PROJECT PSMTabBarControl WITH THE DEFAULT CONFIGURATION (Release) === :info:build Check dependencies :info:build Unsupported compiler 'GCC 4.2' selected for architecture 'x86_64' ## How do I resolve this? Is there a way to choose another compiler? Is there a different variant to use? The failure occurs whether or not I use any variants. thanks -- Tim tim at tee jay forty nine dot com or akwebsoft dot com http://www.akwebsoft.com ___ macports-users mailing list macports-users@lists.macosforge.org http://lists.macosforge.org/mailman/listinfo.cgi/macports-users
Re: Installation Alert window will not close!
Have you closed itunes? And the process status app will tell you whether either is still running and you can kill the itunes programs and the installer. You might also want to look at the apple discussion groups. You are most likely not the only one with this problem. Updating itunes to the latest version might also help. I think they did away with the itunes helper in that. Installation Alert window will not close!
Hello Folks : Well, it happened again. I'm installing xCode, (decided to do a 'factory settings' refresh on the OS). The 'Installation Alert' window has come up, telling me that I must close iTunes. Following the instructions that you good folks gave me, from terminal I executed: killall iTunesHelper But the Alert Window does not go away and installation is stalled. Grr! I'm unable to see any additional process that needs to be killed and I'm afraid that to reboot could corrupt everything again. Please advise -- Tim tim at tee jay forty nine dot com or akwebsoft dot com http://www.akwebsoft.com ___ macports-users mailing list macports-users@lists.macosforge.org http://lists.macosforge.org/mailman/listinfo.cgi/macports-users
