Gimp & UFRAW /MacPorts on Yosemite

2014-12-12 Thread David Lyon
Has anyone successfully used Terminal to download UFRAW& Gimp2 through
MacPorts for Yosemite.I have not been able to get the startup Icon (Wilber)
to show up in the MacPorts folder in Applications. I have recently,
following upgrade to Yosemite, reinstalled Xcode and MacPorts. I have
followed the following additional procedures as prescribed in Terminal
following download of UFRAW/Gimp2:
sudo xcodebuild -license following install of package Macports

"Startup items have been generated that will aid in

starting dbus with launchd. They are disabled

by default. Execute the following commands to start them,

and to cause them to launch at startup:"

# sudo launchctl load
-w/Library/LaunchDaemons/org.freedesktop.dbus-system.plist

# launchctl load -w/Library/LaunchAgents/org.freedesktop.dbus-session.plist

"To have Python27 operating and active"

sudo port select --set python python27

"To make the Python 2.7 version of Cython the one that is run when you

execute the commands without a version suffix, e.g. 'cython', run:"

sudo port select --set cython cython27

The result is that all folders are in /Opt/local

And MacPorts is in Applications correctly.

Everything seems to be in order however there is no start up Wilber in the
Macports folder.

Any suggestions or guidance will be appreciated.

Thanks & Happy holidays.

Dave

I entered the incorrect host name in the preference section of digikam for

problem by un-installing both MacPorts and digikam. However upon starting
what I would have believed to be a brand new version of digikam, I receive

Re: Installing mysql for digikam /resetting mysql user data

2013-12-12 Thread David Lyon

To try to clarify my earlier e-mail. You kindly provided the following
resource (http://userbase.kde.org/Digikam/Using_digiKam_with_MySQL) and
suggested from the support page that the port was 3306. It may be but the
date of that information was 3/14/11. Nonetheless, on that same page the
illustration suggests that the Host Name is 192.168.1.11. And as I said, I
saw during my effort to install the mysql server that my DI was 10.
Perhaps it was referring to something else but I assumed that it had
generated the user-name for the new account. So I launched digikam and it
seemed much more stable than ever before. I opened preferences and
installed the newly acquired data-(Port 3306/Host Name 192.168.1.11/User
ID 10/ Password [the one that was confirmed]. I quit digikam. The attempt
to re open provided the error message:

ash-3.2$ /Applications/MacPorts/KDE4/digikam.app/COntents/MacOS/digikam
digikam(4634)/digikam (core) Digikam::AlbumWatch::connectToKDirWatch:

DatabaseParameters: [ Type "QMYSQL", Name "digikam" (Thumbnails Name
"thumbnails-digikam"); Host Name and Port: "192.168.1.11" 3306; Username
and Password: "10", "selkirk"]
digikam(4634)/digikam (core): Error while opening the database. Error
details [ QSqlError(2003, "QMYSQL: Unable to connect", "Can't connect to

MySQL server on '192.168.1.11' (60)") ]
QSqlDatabasePrivate::removeDatabase: connection 'ConnectionTest' is still
in use, all queries will cease to work.

And now digikam will not open so I need to change some settings on the
mysql server. Therefore I have been trying to find
resources that will allow me to determine the HOST and PORT and confirm my
user-name and pw. I was able to find the attached. I presume that by
executing the proper code and sequence, one can access information on the
mysql server. I have been trying various configurations but all seem to
return me to the code page (attached-same one).

For example if I wanted to find the port : "from code page: -P,
--port=#Port number to use for connection or 0 for default to, in
order of preference, my.cnf, $MYSQL_TCP_PORT, /etc/services, built-in
default (3306)."

How would I format the request?
sudo /opt/local/bin/mysqladmin5 -P --port#
or
sudo /opt/local/bin/mysqladmin5 -P, --port# Etc-I have tried several
sequences but the command and others using different codes for various
discreet information from the code list only return me to the code page.

I am sorry that I have confused things but if I can modify correctly
through the mysql server the critical account information, I think digikam
will be operational. I have all the documentation which I have been
through and could easily create a flow sheet to successfully install
digikam on Mac OS 109 if that would be helpful.

Sincerely
David

Re: Installing mysql for digikam

2013-12-12 Thread David Lyon
Well, I guess I have created another conundrum. The reference you
provided, I erroneously assumed that the Host Name was the one associated
with the port # (3306) you provided. So I, after failing with
"localhost", entered 192.168.1.11 as the Host Name but apparently it is
not correct, as digikam is not opening and provided the error message
below.

I think if I can find the correct items for Host Name; Port: my user name:
and my password; digikam should work. When I was configuring mysql last
evening, I received an indication that my mysql ID was "10". I reset the
password successfully and was confirmed. Any suggestions or guidance will
be appreciated.

thanks,

If the MySQL server is running on the same computer on which you want to
run digikam, then the hostname should be “localhost”, otherwise the
hostname should be the hostname or IP address of the computer running
the MySQL server. The port should be the default MySQL server port,
which is 3306.

The username should be a valid MySQL username on your MySQL server; the
server comes preconfigured with a single user, “root”, with its password
set to the empty string. Since the root account is the administrator
account which can be used to do anything on your server, including
reading or deleting all data, you should secure it against unauthorized
access by changing the MySQL server’s root password to something else
(the MAMP page includes instructions for doing so). Having done this,
you could fill “root” and the MySQL root account’s password into
digikam. Alternately, if you’re going to use your MySQL server for other
things as well, you may want to make a separate MySQL account for
digikam and use that.

I don’t know what kind of “database connection options” they’re
referring to. I’d try leaving them blank, or finding the digikam
documentation to see what kinds of options you can use and if any of
them would be useful to you.

Your screen shot showed you filled in the value
“/Users/David/Desktop/PICS TO PRACTICS” into the two fields “Schema
Name” and “Thumbnails Schema Name”. This is probably not correct. A
schema name in MySQL is a database name; it’s asking you what names you
want it to use when creating the databases in your MySQL server.
Alternately, you might need to create them yourself, and then tell it
here what names you used; I’m not sure; you’d have to consult the
digikam documentation. I would make up two database names and fill them
in and see what happens. Either it’ll create them and use them, or it’ll
complain that they don’t exist, in which case you’ll need to create them.

You should probably read a digikam-specific tutorial about this. I found
this one about setting it up to use MySQL:

http://userbase.kde.org/Digikam/Using_digiKam_with_MySQL

It also says it’s not necessary, and that usually it uses SQLite
instead, which requires no setup. It says:

“Of course, you might wonder why you’d want to switch to MySQL when
SQLite already does a good job of managing

cd /opt/local ; /opt/local/lib/mysql5/bin/mysqld_safe &

X Running the above script I receive; bash-3.2$
"/opt/local/lib/mysql5/bin/mysql_safe: No such file or directory"---which
suggests there is mysql directory--How do I create one with no password

You can test the MySQL daemon with mysql-test-run.pl
cd /opt/local/mysql-test ; perl mysql-test-run.pl

I receive the following after attempting the above script;bash-3.2$
mysql-test-run.pl cd/opt/local/mysql-test ; perl mysql-test-run.pl

bash: mysql-test-run.pl: command not found
Can't open perl script "mysql-test-run.pl": No such file or directory
bash-3.2$

Please report any problems with the /opt/local/lib/mysql5/bin/mysqlbug
script!

bash-3.2$
