I was looking at doing that, but first looked at what 107 provided, which was
vim patch 7.4.2275. But when I googled for that, I already found mention of a
bug in it:
https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/vim_dev/zAyFfZrmieU

So it might be worth waiting a few days to avoid that, assuming a numbered vim
patch is made soon and the MacVim folks pick it up promptly.

MacVim seems to have been updated (port version: 106, new version: 107)

2016-08-29 Thread Richard L. Hamilton
Running AppFresh (checks versions against iusethis database...not always
accurate but better than nothing) told me that MacVim's web site, as of 27
August, has 7.4r107. Macports currently has 7.4r106.

Naturally, I'm not going to grab an update for a packaged version directly from
elsewhere...and certainly two days behind isn't bad. Just passing on the info.

So, I found a workaround. I manually downloaded the patch file and placed

just fine. Thanks anyways everyone. Since the build went file, I know
don't have the log file. Sorry about that and thank you everyone for the

MacVim?

2014-01-13 Thread Comer Duncan
Today I have installed the macports flavor of vim. It seems fine. Next I
tried to install vim-app but port told me that vim-app does not work and I
should rather install MacVim. So, I did or rather think I did. When I
issue

comermacpro:~ comerduncan$ port installed vim MacVim

The following ports are currently installed:

  MacVim @7.4.snapshot72_0+huge (active)

  vim @7.4.052_0+huge (active)

However only vim runs and is in /opt/local/bin. MacVim is not there. So my
question is where is it? Name is different than listed by port installed?
I tried gvim but nothing is there. Is there a problem with MacVim on
Mavericks, which I am running?

Thanks for suggestions.

port contents is helpful here.

MacVim is a native app bundle, and it is installed as

Yikes! Are you saying that I should be using Xcode4.1?

It would probably be easier, but I was given another solution on IRC; you
should file a bug against the port.

jmr_mp geekosaur: indeed, this is why we've been telling everyone to
check for gcc-4.2's existence and depend on apple-gcc42 if needed

so the port is doing the wrong thing, and you should be able to work around
by sudo port install apple-gcc42.
