Re: issue with mail and new safari 4 beta
Hi Jessi, what i usually do is have my preview pane turned off, and instead of hitting VO J to read my messages, I can simply hit return, and VO will start reading the message which I've selected. In WIndows back when I used it, I heard that having the preview pane on in a mail client can result in increased chances of getting viruses, i never believed that, but I usually turned it off anyway, but if you like it, that's cool too. If however you do want to turn it off, ifyou go to the messages table, and VO down arrow from there, there's a horrizontle splitter, which you'lll want to route your mouse to, and double click on it VO shift space twice, and that'll get rid of your preview pane. Then when you want to read a message, you can hit enter on the message you want to read, and VO should read it just fine. Hope this helps. Re: issue with mail and new safari 4 beta
Hey, the problem I first encountered in mail after installing Safari 4 beta, was when replying to an email, I had to interact with the edit box in order to have Alex speak what I was typing. Prior to this I could just tab to the reply edit box and hear everything. I only had to interact if I needed to spell check or edit. I decided to go back to Safari 3. quickbooks 2009 appears to be accessible with voiceover.
Hi listers, I was playing around with quickbooks 2009, which is a money management/ account management program for small businesses. To my surprise, it appears to be entirely accessible. The only small problem is that when you open a company file, you are placed on a homepage that voiceover cannot interact with. Hit command w to close this window, and then interact with the toolbar. There are lots of options in there, such as customers, snapshots, venders, etc. Clicking on any of these options gives you the info, which is displayed in several tables. It reads nicely with voiceover, and the buttons to edit the info are even labeled. I hope this is helpful to somebody. Also note that I have only messed around at a basic level with this software, so there may be a feature somewhere that does not work. Re: Issues with New iPod Shuffle
You are correct, the clips are generated on the machine you are syncing with. So, if you are running Tiger and since Alex is not a voice available to Tiger, you won't have that voice available. I don't know what Apple can possibly do unless they choose to include Alex as a voice for Tiger or as a voice for iTunes to use. I guess this is how the voices are generated for other languages. --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. hmmm. that doesn't seem like an inaccessibility to me, it makes sense.if you're using tiger, you'd get the tiger voices cuz Alex isn't installed with Tiger so there'd be nothing to sync to for it right? since the voices come off your computer? or maybe the shuffle is different. but I'd still think that if you were syncing with tiger, you wouldn't be able to get alex. but maybe I'm wrong.
