Re: Creating more space on IPhone?

2013-09-20 Thread Pete Nalda
Hi,
Something similar happened on my iPhone 4, 16GB. I wrote to viPhone about it,
and was given instructions to try and install it with iTunes, which, when I got
ready to do, a sync was done, then on the phone, I was allowed to install it.
I did go and delete a few things also though.

Re: Creating more space on IPhone?

2013-09-20 Thread Alex Hall
Well, 5gb is easy to believe, depending on what the app has downloaded or
cached, and that's about a third of your total right there. Music is probably
around 200mb, depending on how big each song is, and four more apps of 200mb
each gets you to another gigabyte right there. Clear out content on that 4gb
app, that's most of the problem, then see about erasing larger apps you don't
use. For instance, I erased all my music (since I can just re-sync it anyway)
and deleted Garageband since I never use it anyway.

Creating more space on IPhone?

2013-09-20 Thread Jim Portillo
Hi,

I've got a 16 Gig IPhone 5 and can not download the new IOS 7 because it
tells me I only have 2.7 gigs available on my phone and it needs at least 3
gigs for it to download.

Do apps really take up that many gigs? Every app I see in the "Usage"
section takes up megs, not gigs. The only one that takes up 5 gigs is
OOTunes, which I find hard to believe.

Also, I don't have much music on my phone.61 songs, and 15 photos.

Is something up with the phone, or have I really used close to 14 gigs of
pure apps? Again, I find it hard to believe, but I'll take any advice.

What can I do to gain more space?

Jim

The problem may be with the Facebook app. The latest version doesn't let you
view notifications anymore. It seems to be quite a bit more sluggish for me as
well.

Voicover not announcing auto-correct anymore.

2013-09-20 Thread Jessica Moss
I just noticed when I was typing a message on facebook on my IPhone, that sense
I upgraded to IOS7, voiceover has stopped speaking when the autocorrect feature
pops up. Is that a bug with the operating system, or is something turned off
in the settings that I need to fix?

Re: itunes radio and skipping songs

2013-09-20 Thread Jessica Moss
Ok, I unfortunately didn't know you could create one of your own, where would
you find that? I figured you could, but don't recall finding that option when
I played around with it.
I wasn't all that impressed with some of the preset stations, considering the
fact that some of the titles of them didn't have much of a description, but
some of them were pretty cool-sounding, so not really sure what I think of it
as of yet.
Will give it another shot though.

Hi,

Those are dimmed if your listening to the pre set featured stations. You need
to be listening to a station you’ve created to have access to those options.

BARD App Available in App Store

2013-09-20 Thread Brian Fischler
Hey all,

I just wanted to let my fellow listers know that the NLS Bard app is now
available in the app store. I found typing Bard Mobile and not just Bard was
the quickest way to find it. Once installed you will need your user name and
password to login, most likely your user name is your email. To view your books
you will need to save them to your Wish List on your computer to view them and
download them on your iPhone. I have only played around with the app briefly,
but it seems fantastic so far. Thank you to Bard for finally releasing an
iPhone app for us to take our content anywhere.

Actually, you can add books to yur wish list from within the app in
the get books tab, then download them once they're added there. When
they're downloaded, they will appear in the bookshelf tab. I also love

IOS 7 without the eye

2013-09-20 Thread Paul Erkens
Hi All,

A number of issues that came by on this and other lists, have already been
addressed in a wonderful and very recent book by Jonathan Mosen. His book is
called IOS 7 without the eye. I bought it yesterday and it is absolutely a
great read.
If you are an iphone user already, this will tell you all you want to know
about what's new, and which are the bugs in VoiceOver for the moment. This book
specifically touches on all important new things that a blind user may want to
be made aware of. Even for me, being a non-native speaker, everything is clear.
It was written from a blindness perspective, and I would like to encourage you
whole heartedly to go buy it. Just google for mosen ios without the eye and it
will come up as one of the top results. I payed using paypal, so that is also
an option. If you want to get up to speed with ios 7 as well, it's all I needed.

Hth,
Paul.

I'm sure they anticipate it but what should they do? Say they normally

they anticipate the load on release day would take 1000 servers, do they
just build like crazy only to later have 900 servers collect dust until

Re: youtube video embed problem

2013-09-20 Thread Rebecca Blaevoet
Max you have a Wordpress site, right? I think there's a visual editor
where you click on that, or press the right-click button with whatever
speech software you're using, then it brings up a window where you can
paste the link in? I find that's the hardest thing to do on wordpress
sites, add a link. The most important thing to make sure of is that it's
got the correct code around it when you paste it, in other words href="website"yourtext
the techie geeks on this list will correct me if I'm wrong. There may
even be a shortcut with the keyboard to make it easier to imbed a link.
You may also need to use a plugin through Jetpack for video as the links
act a little differently, at least with WordPress they seem to.

That message has appeared for me, I believe. Try simply restarting the phone
and, if that fails, forget the Brailliant in bluetooth settings. If you still
have no luck, you could try a network settings reset, which will wipe out all
bluetooth, wifi, and VPN profiles and settings.

Thanks. I looked for it being mentioned on Google, but I didn't see it
mentioned on any accessibility websites.
I've mentioned it to apple accessibility and got the usual response about not
being able to comment on when it can be resolved. But I suppose this is the
risk you take when you update to the first release of an operating system.
Still, at least nothing seems to be massively broken in accessibility. H

2013-09-20 Thread Sandi Jazmin Kruse
hi, i dunno, now since i have not had too use the phone for anything
really important i have mostly just messed about with its different
functions, of course at the same time having too use the new danish
voice, what will be interesting too find out is how it will read up my
norwegian nursing books, and that honestly is what i fear the most.
the voices might be badder, true but lets hope that it is in the end
all for the better :)

best

reading .ppt powerpoint files on the mac with vo?

2013-09-20 Thread Anouk Radix
Hello,
I got sent some ppt powerpoint presentations. I trie dopening them in preview
but couldnt really read much. Is there a way to open these on the mac that will
allow you to read the non-image text with vo?
I suppose i could just print htem and scan and ocr them but if i could just
read them that would be less cumbersome.
Thanks in advance for any information,
Greetings, Anouk,
