Personally, I do not vo-space on menus displayed when activating a popup

Sound output under Yosemite

2014-11-02 Thread Mary Otten
Hi all,
I just upgraded my Mac mini to Yosemite. I discovered what I think is a
problem, in that I no longer automatically switch from the onboard speaker of
the many to my USB speakers. Under Mavericks, if I did not have my USB
speakers on. Voiceover and other sounds came through the minis speakers. If I
turned the speakers for USB on, then the sound came through the speakers. The
change was automatic. Now, if I have the USB speakers on and sat under the
sound preferences, when I turn them off, I get no sound. It doesn't
automatically go back to the minis internal speaker.if I have the preference in
sounds set for the minis internal speaker, and I turn on my USB speakers,
nothing happens. Sound remains on the minis internal speaker. In other words,
the automatic change has gone. This is a problem, because my USB speakers have
an amplifier in them. I do not wish to leave this on all the time as the
speaker containing the amplifier gets rather hot. And it's a waste. How can I
get my automatic switching back?

Re: switching from mac to windows 7 bootcamp faster?

2014-11-02 Thread Sabahattin Gucukoglu
I suppose you could put together an Automator workflow to do the bless and
reboot in one step. That's all the preference pane is doing. You'd run
something like:
sudo bless --device /dev/disk0 --legacy --setBoot && sudo shutdown -r now

Replace disk0 with the disk on which the MBR boot code of Windows is actually
located. Try it; paste that command into Terminal, type your password, and
stand well back …

Hopefully when the machine reboots, you'll be in Windows.

Re: "Gifting" a song in the iTunes store

2014-11-02 Thread Cheryl Homiak
I just tried it, not all the way through because I'm not trying to gift. when I
did vo-space on the popup and then went down to the gifting option and closed
with vo-space, a window or dialog came up where I could fill information in and
then there was a next button. It did take a few seconds for it to come up or
for me to realize what was happening. If that isn't happening as far as you can
tell, you might try doing vo-f2 twice to see if a window or dialog has come up
but you aren't being focused there with vo. If it's a dialog you may even want
to do vo-f1 twice to cover the bases.

I tried and tried to turn over a new leaf.
I got crumpled wads of tear-stained paper
thrown in the trash!
Then God gave me a new heart and life:
His joy for my despairing tears!
And now, every day:
"This I call to mind,
and therefore I have hope:
The steadfast love of the Lord
never ceases;
his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness."

VarioConnect with a mac and iOS device

2014-11-02 Thread Andrew Lamanche
Hi,

Could those of you who use BAUM’s VarioConnect comment on it please? What’s
its performance, ease of pairing, its functionalities? Please feel free to
right off list although others might wish to hear about it too.

Many thanks

Andrew

Re: switching from mac to windows 7 bootcamp faster?

2014-11-02 Thread Dan Roy
I upgraded, in fact, I completely reformatted my mac partition and installed
from scratch.

I am still able to boot up in windows 8.1 with no problems. The bootcamp
partition wasn’t altered in any way.
