Re: What about Logic Pro?

2015-07-22 Thread Christopher-Mark Gilland
Logic Pro X (specifically, Pro X,) is somewhat doable. It depends on what
exactly you're wanting to do. Editting can be done, though it's a little bit
of a challenge. Midi, can be triggered, but if you're trying to use the event
editer, then forget it!

Loops can be copied and inserted into a project fairly easily. As for working
with effects like E Q, compression, reverb/delay, and such, I think it really
depends on the plugin you're using.

Though definitely more pricy, I would strongly strongly recommend using
ProTools V12 instead. Again, I'm not exactly sure what you're trying to
accomplish being you said you're very basic. To be honest, both Logic, as well
as ProTools might wind up being way overkill for what you need.

For me, I absolutely, must must must must! use ProTools. Me being a
professional musician, and being that I do a crap load of both mixing/editting
and masterring, I don't have much of a choice.

Before anyone asks me on or off list, I wanna do midi editting, if I get PT12,
will that work better for this, the answer is, yes and! no.

The midi editter, (***Not!***!) to be confused with the midi event! editer, is
quite doable with a little bit of practice getting the hang of it. That said,
the event editer is a complete disaster! I think Avid is working on this
though. I know they're at least aware of it. That's really all I'm at liberty
to say.

No, I'm not a tester or anything, but I know someone who will remain nameless
who is.

Anyway, for the most part, it works fantastically. It, being PT12 in a whole.

If you wanna learn more about it, there is a list for us PT users who are blind
that you can join to acquire more info. It's fairly decently low traffic. I'd
say, low to moderate.

  Hi All.
Compared with Garageband 10.1, is Logic Pro more usable by a blind

In your opinion, for a non advanced user, worth to buy Logic Pro instead of
using Garageband 10.1?

Re: Netflix and apple tv

2015-07-22 Thread ROBERT CARTER
Hi,

Audio description only works on the third generation. You can, however, use an
iPhone or iPad and get Netflix descriptions and then airplay the show including
descriptions to the Apple TV. The second gen cannot run the latest Apple TV
update which is required for audio description.

What about Logic Pro?

2015-07-22 Thread 'Gabriele Battaglia' via MacVisionaries
Hi All.
Compared with Garageband 10.1, is Logic Pro more usable by a blind perspective
or not?

In your opinion, for a non advanced user, worth to buy Logic Pro instead of
using Garageband 10.1?

Thanks.

Re: VoiceOver On, Speech Off, on a MacBook Pro

2015-07-22 Thread Caitlyn Furness
Basically, when voiceover is off, it’s completely off, and you as a blind
person can’t use the features of VO.

when voiceover is on, but speech is muted, if you have a braille display
attached, you can still use that, and magnification is still on, so if you have
partial vision, you can use it, it just won’t talk.

On the i phone, you can turn speech off with a three finger double tap-it’s
very easy to do this by mistake! Doing the gesture again toggles it back on
again.

Fw: VoiceOver On, Speech Off, on a MacBook Pro

get it!

Subject: RE: VoiceOver On, Speech Off, on a MacBook Pro

Hi Eileen,

The option to mute VoiceOver is available because there are some users that
wish to keep VO active, but don’t want it to abruptly interrupt audio, such as
videos or music. Primarily, however, I believe it is an option because there
are people who use Braille with VoiceOver, and don’t want the speech aspect.
Imagine a classroom or office situation, where you lack headphones but have a
Braille display. This would be useful then so VO speech isn’t blaring out of
the speakers of your computer.

This is interesting!! Can someone please explain to me what the difference is
between VoiceOver being on and Speach On/off? I get this a lot on my I Phone
6, but I haven’t encountered it on the Mac Book Pro.

And, can any one explain to me why when Voice Over is On you’d have to unmute
it? It just doesn’t make sense to me. I always thought that once Voice Over is
on its there to be used with an option to stop/pause it from reading or
speaking, but I never realized it could be muted. .

Sorry if these are super basic questions, but I’m new to the Mac and not
getting used to it.

Thanks for any clarifications.

Good morning Christine,
Once voiceover is on, if you do a three finger double tap on your trackpad, you
should hear the phrase, "voiceover and muted." good luck.

an itunes library/apple music question

2015-07-22 Thread Joe Quinn
I've gotten about 21,000 or so tracks courtesy of apple music, and on september
30, I'll end up losing them. that is, if I don't pay for it. now, is there a
way I can have a backup listing of everything I've "rented," from apple music
so if I decide to go back to it, I can redownload them? cause I'll never
remember what i'd "rented." Doubt there's a way to get the output of the
library, but. :) thfor any help you can shed on this.

Re: VoiceOver On, Speech Off, on a MacBook Pro

2015-07-22 Thread Andrew Lamanche
The "speech on and off" feature is useful if you for example use a refreshable
Braille display and want to read quietly in Braille without Voiceover getting
in the way. Also, I sometimes listen to a stream in Safari or itunes and read
in Braille using refreshable Braille so I don't want voiceover saying anything.
In order to use refreshable Braille display you need to have Voiceover
running. That's why you can mute the speech without losing all the
functionality of Voiceover.

RE: VoiceOver On, Speech Off, on a MacBook Pro

2015-07-22 Thread Tristan

VoiceOver On, Speech Off, on a MacBook Pro

2015-07-22 Thread Kristeen Hughes
Good morning, all.

I have a MacBook Pro that I booted up this morning. It didn’t speak the usual
“voiceover is running” greetings, so I did a command f 5 to turn voiceover on.
I was told that VO was on, but speech was off. Is there an easy way to get
speech back on? I’m not sure how it got turned off in the first place, but,
since it says nothing once it tells me that speech is off, the machine is not
usable at this point.

Thanks in advance.

Re: deezer, was Re: Apple Music

2015-07-22 Thread Piotr Machacz
Yeah, there is. If you go to an artist page, go into the table that lists their
top tracks, albums and so on and, using vo-up go to the very top and you’ll see
buttons to add that artist to favourites or start a mix. The one thing you
can’t do within the app though is actually view what artists you’ve favourited,
but once you favourite someone it will influence recommendations and you will
be notified every time they release something new.

Metallica. This is a hugh advantage. Probably because of the drm in Apple
 Music.

Apple Music is more difficult to use than the competition. Go figure. Its
faster with Deezer to add artists in library for example.

Is there a favorite button hidden somewhere in iTunes and IOS music, that
adds artists in library after hitting the artist name after serch result
for the first time? So many commands before adding artist it looks like.
Maybe this will be fixed later. I am sure i saw some options settings
somewhere in iTunes Apple Music on mac, but it is gone, can’t find it
 again.

 Take care
