Re: Is Airplay fixed?

2015-09-22 Thread David Chittenden
Thanks for that. It is called Audio Destination. I will test it this evening
with bluetooth speakers. With my earpiece, once I select speaker, rather than
external destination, the rotor selection disappears. I will attempt to figure
out the parameters of this new option.

Hi all, there is now a new rotor gesture available whenever you have an

What he said. :) To add to it, the reason it sometimes just bonks is that you
seem to have to be on a table, or at least a page with tables, at the time. If
you're not, it may not do anything.

Re: Is Airplay fixed?

2015-09-22 Thread David Chittenden
If using a bluetooth speaker, VoiceOver goes through the speaker. If using an
airplay speaker, VO stays on the iOS device. This is how it has always worked.
iOS will show bluetooth speakers as airplay speakers in the control panel.

sometimes option-enter does not tell you that the download has started so you

Christina,
The VO equals command seems to collapse tables. This command appears to be a
toggle so will expand a collapsed table as well.
I believe this command is useful for hiding tables you may not care about.
I hope this helps.

using drop box for photos was Re: Is iPhoto obsolete now?

2015-09-22 Thread Christina C.
Jessica,

Can you please elaborate or point me to a source as to why and how you find
dropBox easier for your photos. I really can’t do a darn thing with the photos
themselves but I do like how apple’s photos app automatically organizes them. I
suppose maybe some of my family members would want to edit photos one day but
really I just need somewhere to keep them organized for me.

Thanks,

Did you try an actual mouse click? Sometimes when I can’t get something to
download from Safari, I try an actual mouse click, where the mouse pointer
actually clicks and it will work for me. I have not visited this website though

Good Luck,

Re: Why on earth can I no longer read tables in Safari?

2015-09-22 Thread Christina C.
Oh my gosh! I was having the exact same problem. I could not figure out what
was going on. I tried VO plus the equal sign and all I got was a bonk sound
but suddenly I could access a table that I could not before.

Can you please explain what this vo plus equal sign command is for. I don’t
understand it. I tried the keystroke a few more times and Vo just says table
interaction required or table interaction not required. I don’t understand
this. In the past, before a few minutes ago and trying the vo plus equal sign,
no matter how many times I tried to get voice Over to interact with a table it
absolutely would not. VoiceOver would just act as if the table did not exist
and I kept having to get sighted assistance. The only reason I knew there was a
problem was because I had been to the sight in the past and new something was
wrong. All seems to be working now but I would love to understand this command
better if possible. Thanks so much!

2015-09-22 Thread erik burggraaf
Hi,

I'm sure there's an audacity built in option for lowpassess as well, only I
didn't have time this morning to open up a wave. I was sort'a hustling to get
out the house. So, All of the effect menu was greyed out and I had to use my
best guess on what would be a quick and dirty lowpass filter.

Best,

Hi Stacy,

Once the file is playing, press command+l to focus on the address bar. The web
address and the name of the file should be selected. Once it is selected, press
the option+return to start the download. You can press command+option+l to open
the downloads folder and check the progress of the download.

Re: Finally figured out how to not have every email in a thread read to me

2015-09-22 Thread Jonathan Mosen
Hi Chris, I really appreciate the info in this message.
Your steps are working well for me, with one exception. I too use the method of
pressing VO+J to jump between the message list and the message itself, as I
find it most efficient. However, using classic view set up as you suggest, once
I've done this and then finished with a thread, I apparently have to stop
interacting before I can hear the next thread.
Are you finding this?
I am running the OS that shall not be named, so perhaps this is the difference.

hey,
thanks for your help, one thing I hate about the apple filters is that for
certain ones like the low pass you can't change settings and even worse there
are no presets.

Re: Is there any way to save a Word or pages doc as RTF in Pages?

2015-09-22 Thread 'Chris Blouch' via MacVisionaries
You can also find that in the Info box (command-I) on any file. After
all the usual stuff about size and name will be the Open With menu where
you can change to whatever app you want for that file. Just after that
will be a Change All button which will make all other files of that type
open with the selected app. The contextual menu might be a bit easier to
navigate but I remember this one easier.

The first thing that comes to mind is table intractability. I know it's
probably not the issue, but give it a shot. Hit vo-equals on a webpage and see
if tables start working normally again. If not, hit it again to turn it back
off.

Re: Apple TV

2015-09-22 Thread Scott Granados
HDMI is a digital cable that carries audio and high end video. You attach one
end to your Apple TV, the other to your TV and that’s about all the hook up you
need.

Re: IOS 9 impressions?

2015-09-22 Thread Kawal Gucukoglu
I have found one more problem.

If you go to the phone in settings where you can set call waiting, call
forwarding, etc. I normally forward my calls to my work number as I'm not
allowed to have my mobile in the office. So when I come to turn this feature
off, I am told that some settings can't be changed. So yesterday when I
restarted my phone, I found that indeed call forwarding had been turned off.
Don't know if it's a bug or not.

Thanks.

Kawal.

 Hello all following this thred,
I wrote to report this issue to Apple and received feedback
regarding how to work around it. There is apparently two ways and as
one poster points out here possibly a third way. Apple support says go
to "settings>general>accessibility>keyboard" When in keyboard they
suggest to turn off lowercase keys. This will take some time getting
use to as it appears to lock it in uppercase and in order to get it
out of uppercase you have to remember to tap on the shift key. The
alternate method that Apple recommends is to start typing the message
and when you need to lock shift in capslock mode tap the shift key and
get it into uppercase mode then use the roter and once you are on
action flick up or down till you get to capslock. They say they are
 looking into it though.

Re: Is there any way to save a Word or pages doc as RTF in Pages?

2015-09-22 Thread Anne Robertson
Hello Donna,

You can open Word files in TextEdit so, for the Pages files, export them as
Word then you can open them in TextEdit and save them as RTF.

Cheers,

Anne

Re: looking for tips on cleaning up old muffled audio using Amadeus Pro

2015-09-22 Thread erik burggraaf
Hi Michael, You would want a low pass filter here.

There are a couple of items in my audacity that look like they might do the
trick. Apple AU low pass apple AU low shelf filter, and possibly one of the EQ
or noise remover plugins has a setting for that.

Hope this helps,
