Burning cd from FLAC sound format

2015-11-02 Thread Andrew Lamanche
Hi,

I wonder whether there's an accessible app on the mac that would allow to burn
a cd from FLAC sound files. I have never before come across this sound format
but I understand that FLAC is some kind of a lossless quality file format. I
tried to import these files into itunes but itunes doesn't seem to recognise
them. Has anyone on the list got any experience of this format?

Many thanks

Depending on your mac, you'll need a thunderbolt adapter, or, maybe a

Audiohijack doesn't allow me to listen to a stream while hijacking

2015-11-02 Thread Andrew Lamanche
Hi,

Something strange is occurring in audiohijack. I've chosen to record a Safari
stream into mp3 file. In the past, I could hear the stream w;while it was
being hijacked. Suddenly, I can't hear it. I think audiohijack is recording
because the meter is saying so. Have I made some mistake or omission in
choosing parameters for the new session? Please help if you know what's going
on.

Re: T-Mobile launches true 4G LTE Micro Cell spot

2015-11-02 Thread Dan
Hi,
They are on the Cell network and your home Wi-Fi calling will work just fine
and the LTE works great.
All you do is plug in the base unit where your signal is strongest, near a
window and the second unit is place somewhere in your space for best coverage.
The best coverage is between these units. Both units are AC powered and do not
have batteries.
Also, in order for them to work, you must have at least 1 bar, or somewhere
around -120 DB or so in the worse case.
As I mentioned, if you place the order they will set up the unit for your
account.

B&W speakers are usually pretty good. I’ve had good luck with them in higher

Re: Mixer and Mike recommendations for podcasting.

2015-11-02 Thread Scott Granados
Also if you’re looking for a high end mixing option for reasonable money check
out the Behringer DDX3216 which has ADAT direct interfaces, AES/EBU, flying
faders, programmable control surfaces, all the various time codes and so forth.
Very powerful device for about your price point.

Not sure if you want to go that complicated though. You can set up a full 16
track ADAT system or direct to disk with a console like that. I have had good
luck with them.

Thanks

Re: Read all key strokes on the MAC

2015-11-02 Thread David Griffith
Generally VO A will read all, pressing the control key will pause
reading and pressing control again will resume reading.

In some applications like TextEdit it is important to interact with the
text before pressing VO A, as if you do not do this you will find if
you press VO A again it will start reading from the beginning again no
matter how far you have read in a document.

There is actually a separate command to deliberately return to the top
of a document and read all from the beginning . This is sometimes useful
if you want to for example return to the top of a web page again. This
command is VO B.
