Re: help with voice memos

2016-07-27 Thread Alex Hall
Not off the top of my head, but I'm sure Google has tons of solutions. My first
thought would be to hit vo-shift-m on the file, find and expand the Services
submenu, and choose convert. From there, find a file format that works (this
may be limited to AAC, not MP3, I'm not sure).

Re: help with voice memos

2016-07-27 Thread Larry Thacker Jr.
I believe at one time voice memos weren’t synced by default, so one had to go
and turn this on in the sync settings for the iPhone within iTunes. This was
the case for me, but it was an older version and it was windows. Just
something to watch for.

MS Word jumps to the top

2016-07-27 Thread Larry Thacker Jr.
When Working in MS Word, if I switch away from the document I’m working on and
come back. The cursor jumps back to the top of the document. I’m pretty sure
I saw this happen in Pages too, but I wouldn’t swear to it. Is there any way
to stop this from happening? It’s quite annoying as I am constantly switching
between applications as I research what I’m working on.

Apologies, I think that was for the Windows build. However, a search reveals

from there. This will delete all the cloud music from your phone, so
be sure this is what you want before you do it.

Re: Accessible online banking

2016-07-27 Thread Scott Granados
Hi, I have had very very good luck with Bank of America both on the app and the
web site itself. Merrill Lynch’s site is also very good.
TD bank is also very good. Most of the majors like your Bank of
Americas and Wells Fargos are very accessible. Also a lot of the small banks
use the same infrastructure as the big guys so it’s basically the same
application rebranded.

Hope that helps.

Re: Two iphone questions.

2016-07-27 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

Regarding your first question, this is a relatively new feature introduced
either late in iOS 8 or in iOS 9, I can't remember off the top of my head. I
don't believe that it is configurable. It usually brings up the audio controls
for music or iBooks, whichever you were listening to last. It sometimes will
also focus on other streaming services if you've used them lately.

To stop music from being able to stream, this will depend on how restrictive
you wish to be. If you only want it to stop streaming when you're on Cellular
Data, then go into Settings, Music and turn off Cellular Data for streaming.
If you wish it to be totally disabled, you'll also need to turn off your iCloud
Music Library which is similarly found in Settings, Music.

Later...

Re: FileMaker, or other database?

2016-07-27 Thread Jeff Berwick
Are you looking for a GUI solution?

If not, the Mac comes with SQLite3 installed and you can use it to create your
own databases via the terminal. You can invoke it by typing:

sqlite3 databasename

If the database doesn’t exist, it will create it, if it does exist, it loads it
into memory. You can then enter SQL commands at the command prompt.

Type .help for help and .quit to quit.

HTH,
Jeff

Finally, is there a way to tell my phone not to stream music that is in the

There is a command to view original image but I actually need to get copies of

Re: Notifications

2016-07-27 Thread Alex Hall
To toggle Do Not Disturb, open the Notification Center and choose the 'today'
radio button. Interact with the widgets, then with the Do Not Disturb widget
(should be the first one). In there, uncheck the only checkbox.

Thanks for the suggestion. I just tried putting the cap file in
~/library/sounds, ~/library/audio/sounds/alerts, and
/library/audio/sounds/alerts. I couldn't get it to show up as an option in

 Hi all,
I just saved an AIFF file for use with audio alerts on my Mac. I've

However, it doesn't appear in Messages > Preferences > sound. Is there
more I need to do than just adding it to ~/library/sounds, or can I not
make custom message arrival sounds? Thanks.

RE: FileMaker, or other database?

2016-07-27 Thread Simon Fogarty
I'm not sure how light it is but there is a filemaker go app for the IOS
platform.

I know you can upload the filemaker database file to your IOS device and view
the database data in different report formats on your device, possibly you can
produce a small database using that

Oh and it's free, I'm not sure if it's got an OSX application version.

Subject: Re: FileMaker, or other database?

Thanks for the input both of you. It's hard to justify the high cost of
FileMaker for my very easy needs. I would use bento if it was still around and
modern. But I'm really disappointed that FileMaker hasn't come out with a light
version a stripped-down version for home users. At a much lower cost. I don't
need all the power of a modern FileMaker.

I don't even need relational. A flat file system would be good. But I would
love the power and or most of the advanced features of today's FileMaker. The
capabilities of version four would do me just fine.

Thanks again.
