Anyone Use Magnification and Zoom

2016-10-16 Thread Brian Fischler
Hey all,

I have a student who needs to use zoom which I do not use. I know the basics
but am curious on the iPhone or Mac can you have zoom only magnify a small area
of the screen. For example when your Apple ID log in pops up on the computer
can you just zoom in on the sign in box a person with very low vision can enter
their password. IF so how do you do this? Thanks,

Re: Bluetooth mike recommendations?

2016-10-16 Thread Christopher-Mark Gilland
Huh? I have a Snowball, and as far as I know it's only USB bus powered. It
doesn't have bluetooth, and definitely won't connect to my phone. Or... are
there different model snowballs.

Hello Chris.

How about the Snowball Microphone or the Snow Flake Microphone? Not sure if
they are bluetooth but they work with the I phone so I have heard. I don't
own them so if anyone can provide Chris with any information if he asks,
then I'm sure he will appreciate it.

Many thanks.

I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm audible, but there is absolutely no low
end, and I do mean none. It's so high frequency that it is practically
earsplitting.

What I'm seeking therefore is a good bluetooth mike that has a good
balance between low, mid, and high frequency response, and is bluetooth
ready. Let me make it very very clear. I already have a set of
aftershockz. I don't want to unpare those from my phone though. I'm not
looking for another bluetooth headset. Make that clear. I don't want a
headset. What I'm asking for is simply just a bluetooth stand-alone mike,
and nothing else. I don't need the headphone part of it.

Any suggestions, aside the snarky, want me to send you a headset? I'll be
happy to break the headphones for ya. LOL! Just kidding. Seriously
though. Any ideas?

Kevin, I’m with you and I wish you could take the MacBook pro up higher as well.

When the memory was removable I was able to upgrade a 2011 model to 32 GB.
Would be nice to have 32 or 64 in the current line.

Re: New Macbook Air for Christmas

2016-10-16 Thread Kevin Chao
I wish the MBA's, whether it be 11" or 13" could accept 16GB RAM. I'm
replacing this 13" Air with 8GB RAM for Pro with 16GB RAM. Janky
performance with loud fan/excessive heat got old :(

 Hi Megan,

A new version of Karabiner is being developed for Sierra. Currently
however, you have to remap the key by creating a configuration file
manually. Here is the info in case you’d like to give it a shot:
 https://github.com/tekezo/Karabiner-Elements

Until it’s released, I’ve gone back to using the accent key as my screen
reading key as E.T. has suggested. But I really do miss having the caps
lock key working as the screen reading key.

2016-10-16 Thread Vaughn Brown
Hi,

I am having trouble accessing audio description on my Apple TV 3rd
Gen. I type in AD, nothing. I type in Audio Discription, nothing. Am I
using the wrong keyword? Also, I bought Jonathan's Apple TV guide for
Voiceover, and it mentioned that AD can be accessed under language. I
don't see a language setting but I do see audio where languages are
listed.
Any pointers be great!
Thanks,
Vaughn

Bluetooth mike recommendations?

2016-10-16 Thread Christopher-Mark Gilland
OK, so I just tried my bluetooth U E Mobile Boombox speaker's internal mike
with a Skype call, and let me tell you what: it, sounds, God? aweful!

I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm audible, but there is absolutely no low end,
and I do mean none. It's so high frequency that it is practically earsplitting.

What I'm seeking therefore is a good bluetooth mike that has a good balance
between low, mid, and high frequency response, and is bluetooth ready. Let me
make it very very clear. I already have a set of aftershockz. I don't want to
unpare those from my phone though. I'm not looking for another bluetooth
headset. Make that clear. I don't want a headset. What I'm asking for is
simply just a bluetooth stand-alone mike, and nothing else. I don't need the
headphone part of it.

Any suggestions, aside the snarky, want me to send you a headset? I'll be happy
to break the headphones for ya. LOL! Just kidding. Seriously though. Any ideas?

Bluetooth Microphone, was: Re: Siri Shortcut

2016-10-16 Thread Christopher-Mark Gilland
You know? Dang! I never even thought a that! I have a mac mini late 2012,
and though my studio mike is hooked to it through my audio interface, and
those it's a D***! good mike, it's kind of difficult for me to get to while
sitting directly at my desk. There's really not a way with how the studio is
configured that I can fix that problem either.

I debated in getting a wireless lapel mike, but yeah.

Here's my thing. Is there a way that I can somehow use my bluetooth
headset, or speaker, but only use the mike portion of it, without the
speaker part being used? I still want to have sound coming through my studio
monitors, via means of my interface. This way I could monitor via headphones
as well when needed. I'm planning to use both Skype, and Facetime, if that
helps.

Re: AMAZON

2016-10-16 Thread Scott Granados
Oh in that specific case I’ve used both numbers but that’s a great question.

I believe there might be. There used to be a telecodata.net
which had a plethora of information from SILI codes
for offices to individual switch center configurations and I believe it had
some mappings.

RESPORG would be another place I’d look for that.

Re: Anyone else having issues with Netflix?

2016-10-16 Thread Scott Granados
Amazon is actively working on accessibility however. It’s not where Apple TV
is but it’s catching up. I have a Fire TV box and it’s very good for viewing
Amazon content. The applications are starting to work but they don’t reliably
yet so your netflix for example won’t be any easier to use on the Amazon
platform, at least not yet.

It’s steadily being improved though since they added a screen reader a few
months back.

Re: Bluetooth devices

2016-10-16 Thread Scott Granados
Hi There, so basically what happens is when you restart your mini or after it
goes to sleep the sound reroutes to the primary source. The pairing
reestablishes but the actually connection to A2DP does not. You need to select
the audio channel you want to use. E.T’s suggestion of using the bluetooth
menu is a good one and will save you many key strokes.

Re: Bluetooth devices

2016-10-16 Thread E.T.

Saqib,
First if you have not done so, go into Bluetooth preferences and
select the option to put it in menu extras. Then its easy to access your
Bluetooth devices.

In the past what used to work reliably for me was to turn the
Bluetooth device on first then boot the Mac. Try that.

settings for output devices. I’ve gone back to using my 3.m wire as it has
become rather tedious going through the manual process of connecting via
Bluetooth for everytime I turn on my Mac in the morning.

Re: Anyone else having issues with Netflix?

2016-10-16 Thread Saqib Hussain
Hi. Amazon appears to have better content in terms of movies because I’m not
really into tv series and the deal breaker for me is that is not Audio
description available with their content.

Re: Audio Hijack

2016-10-16 Thread christopher hallsworth
No. When I bought Audio Hijack Pro version 2.x, I was told Audio Hijack 3.x is
a paid upgrade. But they offer discounts so no need to buy a license at full
price.

 Hello everyone.

I am possibly looking into Audio Hijack as a recorder for both me and my
girlfriend who, as you probably know by now, will be receiving her first
ever mac for Christmas. Finally, thanks to a guide over at
 www.rogueamoeba.com
on how to use Audio Hijack with VoiceOver, I know how to do a recording of
system audio only. Now, would it be possible to combine both system audio
and an input device such as our internal microphones? If so, great! If
not, please suggest alternative recording applications where we can
capture both system audio and our input devices at the same time.

Any responses greatly appreciated. Thank you.
