Re: Moving Mailbox to Local Folder

2016-12-12 Thread Jonathan Cohn
In the mailbox list you must use the VO cursor to find the On My Mac line. The
arrow keys will just skip over that line.

Item chooser will also work, but it is a bit slow. I highly recommend that you
don't try vo-END on the mailbox list, I found VO hanging with this command.

Best wishes,

Jonathan

Re: Moving Mailbox to Local Folder

2016-12-12 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

A reminder that the "On My Mac" is simply a Header for the "On My Mac" folder.
When you use VO navigation to locate it, it will have an disclosure triangle
for expanding/closing. When it is closed, you cannot send anything its way.
When expanded, you need to choose a folder from within its contents to
move/copy items to. There should be no issues copying between iMap and folders
on your Mac. I go the other way all the time. I much prefer them in the iMap
location so that they're accessible to all my devices using that eMail account.

Re: Moving Mailbox to Local Folder

2016-12-12 Thread Jonathan Cohn
There is no direct way to do this. Just create the Mailbox, then go to the
source mailbox and do a select all. Then do a move command. It you have
over 1000 messages you will need to give it some time especially if moving
to the iMap folder. I try to clear out older messages around this time from
my IMAP folders and place them on my ON MY MAC mailbox.

With or without using the VO keys I am not hearing the On My Mac

Hi,

A reminder that the "On My Mac" is simply a Header for the "On My Mac"
folder. When you use VO navigation to locate it, it will have an

cannot send anything its way. When expanded, you need to choose a
folder from within its contents to move/copy items to. There should be
no issues copying between iMap and folders on your Mac. I go the other

they're accessible to all my devices using that eMail account.

Latest macbook pro with touch bar and activating Voiceover

2016-12-12 Thread Andrew Lamanche
Hi,

I had a chance today to lay my hands on the latest macbook pro with the shiny
totally smooth touch bar replacing the function keys. How does one activate
Voiceover now? How can we - if we can at all - use the commands involving
function keys? Is there a description of these functionalities anywhere on
Apple's website? I've failed to find it.

Andrew, you simply triple tap the touch bar to activate voiceover now. I
posted something from accessibility about this earlier. You can also use
similar voice over methods to select keys on the touch bar.

Hope that helps.

Iphone stuttering, frequency, triggers, recurrence

Vo stuttering seems to happen when using the phone following accessing apps.
Disabling vo and re-engaging sets vo temporarily right.
The vo stuttering sounds the way a Windows speech synth does when two

This 6 is a few generations out now so likely under powered. That’s a guess

again, the A10 chip has the same processing power as the 13 inch MacBook Pro so
I would hope so.:)

Re: Iphone stuttering, frequency, triggers, recurrence

2016-12-12 Thread Jenine Stanley
I’ve had the double synth effect on my 6S running one of the earlier beta 10.2
versions and have heard some breaking up of the speech since then but not the
double effect or changing to the compact voice. I’m using the US Siri male
voice for VO.

It seems to happen when I do have a number of apps open and running so power
could be the issue but that said, I haven’t checked *every* time for this so
can’t verify.

Re: a couple of ipod questions?

2016-12-12 Thread Todor Fassl
As an owner of an ipod touch, I agree with the recommendation to buy a
refurbished iphone. It's not that I don't love my ipod, I use it for so
many things. But it was $200 new and for just a little more I could have
gotten a refurbished iphone. The one thing about buying a refurbished
device is that you have no idea how good the battery will be and that
can be kind of important.

Kare, one thing you could do is use a decommissioned phone, it works just

get a touch, how close do the voices mirror those on the mac?
Ios makes me literary dizzy so I must choose with great care, part of
why i would prefer a unit with buttons. Might not need voiceover at

I have a head phones question as well but that would be three so I

Speaking only for myself, of course, I have an iPhone 6, using the latest iOS,
with the Australian male voice by default, but this has happened with Alex as
well. Not compressed, and with or without apps in the background.

bluetooth earpeace for iPhone 7+

2016-12-12 Thread Simon Fogarty
Hi Listers,

I know we've all got our own views on this but can anyone advise what the best
of the Plantronics Bluetooth headsets are currently?
I've got a voyager edge but I'm finding it's got a real delay in picking up the
calls infact the connection with my ipHone 7+

I'd like to update to something that''s going to be up to date and work
instantly for me when answering calls or using my phone and iPad

I beleave there is a newer headset now that is along this line.

Any information would be appreciated.

Simon

Re: bluetooth earpeace for iPhone 7+

2016-12-12 Thread David Chittenden
Simon,

I used to use the S530, which I purchased off of eBay. It is a very inexpensive
earpiece, and typically lasted 6 months. Unfortunately, they updated it and it
now has a much more significant delay. The older unit had just a minimal delay
such that I could type messages using the onscreen keyboard with it.

A friend acquired the extremely pricy Motorola Verve bluetooth earpieces for
his birthday. I tried them and they had quite good musical playback.
Unfortunately, they had a bad delay as well. So, I am suspecting something
about the new Bluetooth chipset, as both devices claim Bluetooth 4.2.

I have gone back to using my wired earpods until the Airpods are released.

By the way, we finally learned why the AirPods became delayed. A couple days
after Apple's September event, someone asked a question about what happens if
one AirPod gets lost, will Apple sell a single replacement? Apple tested the
concept and discovered that the current internal configuration would not permit
this. So, they stopped the production line whilst solving the problem.
Apparently, the problem has now been corrected, and they are starting the
production line again. The info about this was printed a couple days ago, but I
do not remember which paper broke the story. Personally, I would have preferred
it if Apple would have just come clean at the time, but that's Apple's secrecy
a bit over-the-top.

Tidal music service

2016-12-12 Thread Mary Otten
Hi all,
I wonder if anyone here has experience with a TIDAL music service. Specifically
of course, the first question would be about accessibility and ease-of-use of
the app. I'm kind of interested in the higher fidelity audio that is offered,
although I don't know the extent of the catalog. I'm mostly a classical music
and jazz listener. Of course, I have iTunes match and a large Apple Music
library. But the notion of lossless is intriguing, especially as I have a pair
of headphones with digital to analog converter that I think would take good
advantage of this lossless service. So I'm wondering if folks have had good or
bad experiences.
Mary

RE: bluetooth earpeace for iPhone 7+

2016-12-12 Thread Simon Fogarty
Hi David,

Thanks for that and it looks like a problem across Bluetooth devices rather
than just the Plantronics edge and IOS 10.

I’ve completely updated the firmware on the edge and nothing with the delay has
changed for the good if anything I find the delay in switching between synced
devices such as iPhone and iPad is even worse
To the fact that the phone takes about 10 seconds to pick up a connection .

Anyway guess I’ll keep waiting for the apple earpods also, I’m just getting
sick of waiting and until now not having heard what the delay was.

If this information is correct then it’s good to hear,

If only they will be out before xmas so I can order a set or 2.

Interesting that a couple of weeks ago someone had an email from people thought
tim cook saying they would be out around now,
And this info you mention,
Hasn’t yet put a release time on them.

Heres hoping

I read that email from Tim Cook. It was published last week. Tim said they

Reading of News Articles Using the Actual Twitter Client

2016-12-12 Thread Brian Hansen
I downloaded the actual Twitter client and installed it on my Mac mini, and I’m
wondering how to get to the actual articles.. When I’m down-arrowing through
my timeline, and find a posted article I’m interested in reading, if I hit
enter on the article all I seem to see is “Tweet Details” or compose a new
tweet. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated so I don’t have to run
and grab my iPhone anytime I want to look at my timeline on Twitter.

Blessings,

Brian
