Hi Alex I'll give that a try. Right now the macbook pro is off. So
I'll reboot and try turning VO on and off a few times.
Thanks Jeff

I'm not having those problems, and I don't see them on a local 2012 Pro I have
access to. I have seen that odd verbosity problem right after updates before,
though, and toggling VO one or two times seemed to clear it right up. Failing
that, try restarting the Mac. That often helps get rid of odd problems I see
after updates on macOS, iOS, and watchOS.

Did you go to the app store and search for serreia? If so, you should find it

Not sure why you would need to do this after each serreia update, ee last

Just go to purchased items and click on install next to the most recent

Re: Sierra 10.12.4

2017-03-28 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

What you need to do if it doesn't show up in your Purchased items is do a
search for Sierra. MacOS Sierra should be the top most result, download it
from this search result. It's always the most up to date installer.

You can use a WAN optimizer or caching engine for this so you don’t have to

Just go to purchased items and click on install next to the most recent 12.4
install. Once the install starts and prompts you quit and find the file under
Applications.

Re: the new iPad 9.7"

2017-03-28 Thread Scott Granados
I’ve heard great things about chrome but not used it myself so can’t directly
comment.

Somethings off hand I know chrome does better for example is includes cellular
access in the Chromebook line. Why the hell I can’t get internal cellular LTE
access in my MacBook just baffles me. I’ve got all sorts of WiFi, wired ports
for gigabit access, very good bluetooth and no LTE, really? Apple wants me to
use that hotspot feature that badly they won’t give me internal always on
access? I say bah!

Sorry, this is a pet peeve of mine.

Re: the new iPad 9.7"

2017-03-28 Thread Jonathan Cohn
I believe they are really pointing this towards institutional buyers much
like the eMac of old. Make it not quite as light, and not as great at
graphics, but I believe the education price is $299.

I have seen a few school boards move from using iPads to using Chrome
Books. Chromium appears to be at least as secure as IOS and one gets a
keyboard bundled in albeit not a keyboard I enjoy typing on.

Best Wishes,

Jonathan Cohn

Elon Musk is developing human machine interfaces

2017-03-28 Thread Scott Granados
I swear I really like this guy. He’s a far out crazy futurist with just enough
insanity to pull this world changing stuff off. Rockets, nah not enough,
electric cars that really work and are stylish / world changing, nah that’s not
enough either, now it’s time to hack the brain.

This is a bit off topic but I think hugely important to our community so I’m
posting this article and as always, should the mods wish to stop this thread
I’m happy to comply.

I’ve often said, on this list in fact that the only real way to solve the
accessibility problem is to solve the disability at the core. There’s no need
for voice over for example if you fix the blindness of the user. There’s no
need for braille displays for deaf blind users if you restore their censes
either through electronic or biological means. Well… here we go. Elon Musk is
proposing we use neural lace or a proposed array of electrodes to interface
with the brain. He’s starting a company to develop the hardware and software
for human to machine interfaces. The direct ability to upload and download
thoughts from machines. Augmenting features of the brain with artificial
intelligence and not only correcting for disease but adding capabilities.
Imagine for example being able to simply think “ok google, download everything
I need to know to speak Japanese” and bam you’re fully fluent. Stuff of
science fiction but the real world work begins. Read more here.

Re: Sierra 10.12.4

2017-03-28 Thread Scott Granados
I’ll take steelhead or riverbed WAN acceleration for 400 Alex.

You can use a WAN optimizer or caching engine for this so you don’t have to
move all the bits end to end each time plus optimizing the window sizes and
such to get that data on through as fast as possible.

I peered with Apple while working at Trip Advisor just for this reason.:)

The main reason seems to be that they wanted to compete with cheaper
tablets. The camera is eight megapixel instead of 12 for example...

I think it's a good idea as you have tablets like the fire and fire
hdx etc dominating that below $350 pricepoint for the most part.

Re: the new iPad 9.7"

2017-03-28 Thread Alex Hall
The reasons I can see are:

* They were able to rename it to the iPad, thus simplifying the iPad lineup

* They upped the CPU, from the A8X of the Air 2 to the A9.

* They made some changes to the screen and body, letting them lower the price
to offer a more compelling entry-level tablet

Re: Accessible dj software for the mac

2017-03-28 Thread Jerry Mader
Hello there Bryant. The program that I use is something called Djay pro. It
cost me 50 bucks but it's worth it. Most of what you want to do is accessible
with voiceover. I'm still learning it myself but most of it is done by hot
cheese. Take care. Jerry Mader

Just go to purchased items and click on install next to the most recent 12.4
install. Once the install starts and prompts you quit and find the file under
Applications.
