Re: Making a Network selection Default in safari

2017-07-16 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

If you no longer want the other network at all, then do the following. Make
sure that you're connected first to the network you wish to remain a part of
then continue with the below steps.

1. To the Apple menu.
2. Down to System Preferences.
3. Locate the Network button in the list of preferences, and press on it.
4. Locate the Advanced button and press on it.
5. Navigate to the table of networks then interact with it.
6. Navigate to the network you wish to remove, then stop interacting with the
table.
7. Navigate right to the "Remove Network Profile" button and press on it.

If iCloud Keychain is enabled, then you will be asked a confirmation question,
otherwise, it should just be removed.

8. Press on OK.
9. Press the Apply button and close System Prefs.

The old network should no longer be connected unless you actually do it
yourself.

Later...

Re: Tutorial series on audio game programming available

2017-07-16 Thread Yuma Decaux
Hi Alex,

Good suggestion. I will try to fit in a text based version for each tutorial,
and maybe break the podcast into parts for each different step of the way with
the text. Again, I'm still adapting this to suit everyone.

Cheers,

Hi Orio,

Here's the link to the site page with the first video and a link to download
the code. You need X-code to follow through and compile the app on your
platform. But your comment actually makes me think that I should in fact make a
playable demo available for each tutorial. Great thinking dude! :)

3D game podcast 2 available

2017-07-16 Thread Yuma Decaux
Hi All,

So I'm ramping up the pace a bit, as the intro video included no actual coding.

Here is tutorial 1: the basics on setting up your 3D scene for audio. The link
is below:

https://www.oseyeris.com/post/3d-game-podcast-1-your-first-game

The example file is in the linked text before the video. If you are a newbie, I
suggest you follow the video. But if you know code, then I invite you to
immediately download the example file and customise it.

Again, I really appreciate any recommendations, what you would like to find
out, or how to do certain things, so send me a shout on the site's contact page
or go to our FB page at:
https://www.facebook.com/OSeyeris-737015699780534/

The week has started guys, and there's a lot more content coming up :)

Has anybody on the list used the develop tools in Safari to inspect
HTML code, or to play with changes to sites to improve how VoiceOVer interacts
with them and make suggestions to web developers? I would also love to have a
discussion with anybody who regularly uses code pan or other on-line

I can often find what I need but it seems to take me three times longer than I
would like, so want to know how others have improved their efficiency with
coding.

Re: Seeing AI app from Microsoft

2017-07-16 Thread David Chittenden
When testing Seeing AI, KNFB Reader, and Prizmo Go, on a complex magazine page
with multiple columns and fonts, KNFB does the best.

Surprisingly, however, both Prizmo Go, and Seeing AI, do better on simple pages.

Seeing AI really shines on short text and bar code. I especially like short
text locating signage when I am out and about.

 Hi,

I don't believe that it's available in the UK yet. Below is pasted from
the description in the Canada Store.

Seeing AI is a free app that narrates the world around you. Designed for
the blind and low vision community, this ongoing research project
harnesses the power of AI to open up the visual world and describe nearby
people, text, and objects. Optimized for use with VoiceOver, the app
enables you to recognize: • Short Text - Speaks text as soon as it
appears in front of the camera. • Documents - Provides audio
guidance to capture a printed page, and recognizes the text, along with
its original formatting. • Products - Scans barcodes, using audio beeps
to guide you; hear the name, and package information when available.
(works with iPhone 6 and later) • People - Saves people’s faces
so you can recognize them, and get an estimate of their age, gender, and
emotions. • Scenes (early preview) - Hear an overall description of
the scene captured. • Images in other apps - Just tap “Share” and
“Recognize with Seeing AI” to describe images from Mail, Photos, Twitter,
and more. Seeing AI is built to help you achieve more by leveraging the
power of the cloud and artificial intelligence. As the research
progresses, more channels may be added. Visit http://SeeingAI.com for
more details and instructional videos. Available in the U.S., Canada,
India, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Singapore. Coming soon to more countries.
Languages supported – English Supported on iPhone 5C, 5S and later; best
performance with iPhone 6S and later models. Questions, feedback or
feature requests? Email us at seeingai @ microsoft.com.

Hi,

I don't believe that it's available in the UK yet. Below is pasted from the
description in the Canada Store.

Seeing AI is a free app that narrates the world around you. Designed for the
blind and low vision community, this ongoing research project harnesses the
power of AI to open up the visual world and describe nearby people, text, and
objects. Optimized for use with VoiceOver, the app enables you to recognize: •
Short Text - Speaks text as soon as it appears in front of the camera. •
Documents - Provides audio guidance to capture a printed page, and
recognizes the text, along with its original formatting. • Products - Scans
barcodes, using audio beeps to guide you; hear the name, and package
information when available. (works with iPhone 6 and later) • People
- Saves people’s faces so you can recognize them, and get an estimate of their
age, gender, and emotions. • Scenes (early preview) - Hear an overall
description of the scene captured. • Images in other apps - Just tap “Share”
and “Recognize with Seeing AI” to describe images from Mail, Photos, Twitter,
and more. Seeing AI is built to help you achieve more by leveraging the power
of the cloud and artificial intelligence. As the research progresses, more
channels may be added. Visit http://SeeingAI.com for
more details and instructional videos. Available in the U.S., Canada, India,
Hong Kong, New Zealand, Singapore. Coming soon to more countries. Languages
supported – English Supported on iPhone 5C, 5S and later; best performance
with iPhone 6S and later models. Questions, feedback or feature requests? Email
us at seeingai @ microsoft.com.

Re: Which virtual machine software is accessible?

2017-07-16 Thread Phil Halton
Yes, you can set your speech synthesizer software to use, say, the insert key
as it's modifier. Problem is, the Mac keyboard doesn't have an insert key on
it. Only the full-size USB wired Apple keyboard has the insert key. That's
really the best option, but if you don't want to add a keyboard, then you have
to remap some key on your keyboard to act as an insert key through some third
party software like carabiner or some other key mapping software. In my case, I
used a windows remapping tool to set the grave accent key to act as the insert
key, and then set Jaws to use the insert key as it's modifier.

Re: Seeing AI app from Microsoft

2017-07-16 Thread Larry Thacker Jr.
Thanks. I was so blown away by the performance I didn’t explore further. I
thought I’d try it on my mail and was just amazed by how quickly it read. I
blew through the intro without paying much attention, so it didn’t occur to me
there would be a mode for document scanning. I’ll have to play with it. There
may not be a reason for me to bother with KNFB going forward.

Tutorial series on audio game programming available

2017-07-16 Thread Yuma Decaux
Hi Everyone,

I'm the software dev from OSeyeris, and I'm happy to present you a tutorial
series I have started that will help you create and code your own 3D binaural
experiences using swift, playground and Xcode.

I have tried to broaden the audience as much as possible, from those who wish
to understand code more to those who already have advanced knowledge.

Our podcast series are in youtube video format but the example code for each
tutorial is available on our website.

Here is the link to the intro video where I demonstrate a fully featured 3D
audio game we are working on and hoping to release soon as a set of
applications to play and start creating your own immersive world. We are also
currently beta testing thee engine with a local school for special needs and
the response has been overwhelmingly positive.

https://www.oseyeris.com/post/3d-game-podcast-0-introduction

If you go through the lab page, this is where all the tutorials and their
associated files and youtube videos will reside.

I will be posting 18 videos in total, starting from the basics and ramping up
progressively to more interesting features such as A.I behavior, networking for
multiplay, audio engine filters and accoustics, direct recording and playback
as well as some SegueWay videos on some coding concepts to make your code and
3D application more efficient.

Finally, as I have started this series, the format might need some
improvements, so please don't hesitate to contact me and tell me your thoughts
or how you would like the tutorials to go forward.

Also, if you already have some swift knowledge, contact me and maybe we can
work together to complete the platform as it includes many many features, and
is not limited to playing games but has applications in education, audio
editing and virtual audio reality. It can be hosted on OSX, IOS, appleTV and
can also be controlled with a Leap motion infrared controller. I will release a
video very shortly with a demonstration of the Leap motion which can capture 3D
volumetric information of your hands.

Let's do this guys, and have a fantastic end of weekend :)
