RE: Tutorial series on audio game programming available

2017-07-22 Thread Simon Fogarty
Hi Yuma,

Thanks for this,

I’ll have to go have a look at your podcasts and videos,

I’d like to get into coding for IOS and OSX.

Is xcode free to dl or is it something that needs to be paid for.

Hi Simon,

I started the series with a swift playground, but continue on with an OSX
project as it is better for managing multiple files so I can explain concepts
as I go along. I might also start doing the same for IOS, as there are small
but important changes between the platforms, outside of controls.

Are you sure?

podcasts 1 and 2 are up now. Podcast 3 is on the way. And you can also download
the projects used for them on those pages.

Here they are:

Also, can you just check to see if the website has updated on your machine?
Just go to www.oseyeris.com and click on the lab.

Attachments disappearing in mail on the mac

2017-07-22 Thread jennifer parry
Hi all
Up until recently when I open an email that contains an attachment, I could
navigate to the file and use VO space to open the attachment. Now the
attachment file name does not show up, even says there is an attachment.
When I look at the same message on my phone, the attachment is visible.
I went to mail preferences
Accounts
Mail behaviours
But unable to find the key setting that ensure I can download attachments.

Hoping someone may know how to fix this.
I am using a Macbook pro 2016 with Sierra.

regards
Jennifer Parry

2017-07-22 Thread Donna Goodin
Hi all,

This did the trick! On my 2013 MBA, changing the Put Display to Sleep setting
to 15 minutes has made the message go away. Obviously, if you want to set it
to longer than fifteen minutes, you can do so, but I figure that's long enough
for my use.

Hi Simon,

I started the series with a swift playground, but continue on with an OSX
project as it is better for managing multiple files so I can explain concepts
as I go along. I might also start doing the same for IOS, as there are small

Are you sure?

podcasts 1 and 2 are up now. Podcast 3 is on the way. And you can also download
the projects used for them on those pages.

Here they are:

Also, can you just check to see if the website has updated on your machine?
Just go to www.oseyeris.com and click on the lab.

iTunes weirdness since Safari upgrade?

2017-07-22 Thread Donna Goodin
Hi all,

Has anyone else been having iTunes weirdness since upgrading to the latest
build of Sierra? Specifically, what I'm seeing is the following: one almost
constant iTunes busy messages, 2. iTunes is very sluggish, and 3, (not sure if
this is related), getting messages on my phone that certain songs cannot be
downloaded. The strange thing about number three is that I'm pretty sure those
songs are in fact downloaded. Anyone else seeing any of this?
Cheers,

VMware fusion and focus blue connection issue

2017-07-22 Thread Otto Hylli
Hello
Has anybody gotten a focus blue braille display working successfully with Jaws
via a bluetooth connection in a VMware Fusion Windows virtual machine? I got
the focus blue successfully paired with Windows 10 but Jaws is not able to
connect to it for some reason. The focus works all right via bluetooth with
VoiceOver on Mac OS and with Jaws on my Windows laptop and desktop.
Unfortunately I cannot simply use USB since the USB port on my focus is
damaged.

I tried pairing the focus with Windows two times. For the second try I removed
the focus from the Mac OS bluetooth devices just in case though I had
voiceover off in any case. I also restarted Jaws multiple times and also
restarted Windows with no luck.

Re: annoying User Authentication message

2017-07-22 Thread Donna Goodin
Hmm. I've never had either of those issues. Another thing that Afik suggested
is unchecking the checkbox--also under Energy Saver in System Prefs--that says
Put Hard Disk to Sleep when Possible. Perhaps that would solve your Apple TV
issue?

Also, on apple TV, I've started watching my purchased content through the TV
app. Then you can take your Mac out of the equation.

Recovering from failed Safari and iTunes update

2017-07-22 Thread Paul Hopewell
Hello,
I am running the latest El Capitan on my late 2008 iMac.
Something went wrong with the recent Mac OS App store update of Safari, iTunes
and Mac OS security. The result is that neither Safari nor iTunes will start.
I have time machine and SuperDuper backups. IS there any way that I can recover
iTunes and Safari from either my backups or the Mac App store? I could clearly
restore my last SuperDuper backup of about a month ago but I would rather not
do that as I have done a lot of data updates in the last month.
Many thanks for any tips….

Re: Tutorial series on audio game programming available

2017-07-22 Thread Yuma Decaux
No probs. Are you familiar with coding? If so, I suggest you download the
example .zip file directly by going to the lab page, and go to the relevant
tutorial and follow the link to the github. You can download the entire set of
examples and just test them out from there.

Cheers,

I’m trying to align things in a simple Pages document and cannot recall if
there’s a way to determine the position of the cursor for alignment. I want to
have things aligned under each other using tabs, old school I know, but just
need to know cursor position.

Thanks!

Recovering from failed Safari and iTunes update

2017-07-22 Thread Paul Hopewell
Hello,
Some more info on the below….
- the App Store update history says that Safari and iTunes were updated today
22 July 2017.
- Looking at the info for the Safari App it says that this App was last updated
in May 2017 thus suggesting that the 22 July version of the App was not
installed.
- So is it possible to modify the App Store history to show the correct dates
for the Safari and iTunes Apps so that App Store will determine that they need
to be updated and hopefully all will then be well.

--So it seems that
I am running the latest El Capitan on my late 2008 iMac.

Re: cursor position in Pages

2017-07-22 Thread Anne Robertson
Hello Jenine,

You can get the position of the insertion point by doing VO-F4-F4, or of the
mouse pointer from top left of screen by doing VO-F5-F5 or from top left of
window with VO-F5-F5-F5.
You can use tab stops which allow you to align left, right, centre or decimal.
All this information is in our book.

Cheers,

RE: How about that Watch OS 3.2.3 update?

2017-07-22 Thread Simon Fogarty
Hi Lenron,

I was hoping to get $300.00 new Zealand dollars which would include shipping to
where ever you are on the planet.

It's in great condition and I just updated it to Watch OS 3.2.3 lastnight so
it's completely up to date just needing setup

What part of the planet are you located?

Oh and it has the USB to watch charging cable and a sports band both the small
and large sizes

I do have a NZ power adapter but depending on where you are this probably wont
be worth it for you.

RE: Tutorial series on audio game programming available

Hi Yuma,

Yes from the point I had to do coding as part of my IT degree,

No in that I’m not a code monkey and haven’t written code in years and or on
the mac platform.

So it’s something I’m interested in getting back into.
And especially for the IOS platform.

No probs. Are you familiar with coding? If so, I suggest you download the
example .zip file directly by going to the lab page, and go to the relevant
tutorial and follow the link to the github. You can download the entire set of
examples and just test them out from there.

Hi Simon,

I started the series with a swift playground, but continue on with an OSX
project as it is better for managing multiple files so I can explain concepts
as I go along. I might also start doing the same for IOS, as there are small
but important changes between the platforms, outside of controls.
