Doesn't virgin use the Sprint network? That would be a huge downside.

Sprint is offering new and existing customers a free ticket to Jay-Z's 4:44 Tour

2017-08-24 Thread M. Taylor
iMore - The #1 iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch blog - Thursday, August 24, 2017
at 7:56 AM
Sprint is offering new and existing customers a free ticket to Jay-Z's 4:44
Tour
If you're looking to go to Jay-Z's upcoming 4:44 tour, you won't want to
miss this deal from our friends at Thrifter.
Whether you are thinking about making the move to Sprint from your existing
carrier, or are already a customer, you won't want to miss out on this
offer. Sprint has announced that through its partnership with TIDAL it will
be offering its customers a free ticket to Jay-Z's upcoming 4:44 tour in one
of 10 different cities across the U.S. You will need to activate the free
6-month trial of TIDAL to qualify for this promotion, and if you add two or
more lines you can qualify for two tickets.

With ticket prices for this tour starting at around $40 and going as high as
$500, being able to score a free ticket from your cellular carrier is pretty
awesome. The dates and locations that are included in this promotion are:
. Las Vegas - Oct. 28
. Miami - Nov. 12
. Atlanta - Nov. 12
. Boston - Nov. 25
. Brooklyn, NY - Nov. 26
. Brooklyn, NY - Nov. 27
. Washington, D.C. - Nov. 29
. Chicago - Dec. 5
. San Diego - Dec. 19
. Los Angeles - Dec. 21
The catch here is that you'll only be able to score a free ticket for one
day, August 26. You'll want to make sure that you have located the closest
Sprint store prior to that since this offer is first come, first served. The
tickets are not transferable, exchangeable or refundable, and if any
scheduled event is delayed, postponed or canceled for any reason, you will
not be reimbursed for tickets.

Ahead of iPhone 8, Virgin Mobile extends 'all you can eat for one year for $1' deal to switchers

2017-08-24 Thread M. Taylor
9to5Mac - Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at 5:58 AM
Ahead of iPhone 8, Virgin Mobile extends 'all you can eat for one year for
$1' deal to switchers

Virgin Mobile really loves iPhone users . After going iPhone-only back in
June, and offering a really sweet deal to those buying a new phone, it has
now extended the offer to existing iPhone owners switching to the carrier.
The carrier says that any iPhone owner who ports their number to Virgin will
be able to get the same 'all you can eat' $1 deal for a full 12 months .

When you bring your existing iPhone and transfer your phone number to the
"Inner Circle" plan, you will enjoy 12 months of unlimited talk, text and
high-speed data for just $1 on Virgin Mobile's nationwide network.
After the first year, you'll be switched to the company's standard
'unlimited everything' plan, which costs $50 per month. The deal needn't end
there, though: you'll get an additional six months of service for $1 if you
upgrade to a new iPhone.
As we noted before, the usual carrier caveats apply: your data usage may be
'deprioritized' if you go over 23GB a month, and terminated altogether if
you do a lot of roaming. To qualify, you'll need an iPhone 5s or later, and
the offer is subject to confirmation of compatibility with Virgin's network.
Virgin says that the deal is open for a short time, but doesn't specify a
cutoff date.
"At Virgin Mobile, we don't like playing by the rules, even our own," said
Dow Draper, CEO of Virgin Mobile USA. "Consumers know that the Inner Circle
is the real deal, but many love their current phones or don't want to
upgrade yet. So, now for a short period of time, you can bring your own
iPhone to Virgin Mobile and enjoy everything the Inner Circle offers -
including the savings - $1 for 12 months of service. It's also a great way
to try out the Virgin Mobile network with your own iPhone."
It does say that there will be a $25 charge for the SIM from September 29.

Thanks for your response, Mark. I will download the Overdrive app and get the
sighted assistance you suggested. I am assuming that whenever I read a Kindle
book I check out that Overdrive should also be launched. Or, do I go through
my list of books from within the Overdrive app?

Thanks,

Mike

2017-08-24 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

I believe that is what it is supposed to announce. Once the phrase has been
copied to the clipboard, you can paste it into a TextEdit document or such and
it can be read out later.

The SSID for the 5g has 5g in its name so I know which is active.
The ponly reason I knew it was changing bands was that my printer is not

But it was fixed with a router update which I carried out yesterday.

Re: Accessibility of Overdrive on iOS apps?

2017-08-24 Thread Michael Busboom
Thanks for your response, Mark. I will download the Overdrive app and get the
sighted assistance you suggested. I am assuming that whenever I read a Kindle
book I check out that Overdrive should also be launched. Or, do I go through
my list of books from within the Overdrive app?

Thanks,

Mike

Re: Printers that are easy to use and work with the Mac

2017-08-24 Thread Scott Granados
The HP 6815 all in one is a great option. Has a web interface you can
configure with to access all the printer features, easy install and good price
point.

Re: Wifi Behavior

2017-08-24 Thread Scott Granados
Use different SSIDs for 5 ghz and 2.4 ghz that way you join one or the other.
Else use one SSID and let it band steer to the frequency it wants because
that’s usually a change do to conditions and signal strength etc.

Subject: accessible online meeting platform

Hello, a friend is taking a college class where small groups need to meet
online to discuss their assignments. Do any of you know of an accessible
platform?
Thank you.
