RE: Is Anyone Using the Free Version of either Pandora or Google Play Music for iOS?

2018-02-18 Thread David Tanner
You should be able to do that on Pandora, but I am not sure that you can on
Google Play unless you have a paid subscription.

Subject: Is Anyone Using the Free Version of either Pandora or Google Play
Music for iOS?

Hello Everyone,

Okay, I know I said that I had no plans to subscribe to Apple Music, anytime
soon but, well, let's just say I'm reconsidering this position.

The primary reason why I didn't feel the need to subscribe to a music service
is because, once upon a time, one could create custom radio stations based on
artists, genres, a song title, etc, in iTunes. Apparently, Apple has now
restricted this functionality to only Apple Music subscribers.
(smart).

Before I take the subscription plunge, I would like to consider free
alternatives if for no other reason but that I know that I will use the custom
selection feature rarely.

So, is anyone using either the free version of either Pandora or Google Play
Music for iOS? If so, is it possible to create custom stations based on
selected criteria?

I'm probably going to end up subscribing to Apple Music but wanted to at least
put this question out there, in the Ether (smile).

All replies greatly appreciated.

By the way, I'm still loving my HomePod.

Went over to a friend's house today to check out the Amazon Echo. Wow! I was
extremely impressed.

I think I'm going to pick up an Echo Dot and use it at least until my beloved
Siri can catch up, as I truly think she will, in time-a very, very long, long
time perhaps, (big smile). Really enjoyed the audio games that Echo offers.

The way I see it, I will use HomePod for audio playback and personal contact
features, as they become available, and Echo Dot for fun.

Mark

Hi Mark,

I'm using the free Pandora service. It has its challenges, and you do have
adds, but it is usable.
Cheers,

Here are the commands.

Re: Copying some text from an iBook does not seem to be possible

2018-02-18 Thread Mary Otten
Copping the last spoken phrase is not what I want. I might want to copy two
sentences. Or even maybe a list from a page. Not multiple pages. You can’t do
that with last spokeenphrase. Regarding interaction, using an iOS device, not a
Mac, I wasn’t aware that you could interact with the text on the page. I’m
trying to use the voice over text selection copying where you can choose to
copy by word line etc., then flick right to select what you want, changed edit,
make the copy, and paste it wherever you want. This is on an iPhone or an iPad
not using a keyboard. It doesn’t work for me.

Re: VoiceOver friendly application for editing a QuickTime movie?

2018-02-18 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

You can do basic editing within QuickTime itself. Splitting, trimming,
selecting and therefore moving clips around. No facility for effects, but I'm
not sure if that would be needed in your case.

I tried using the calculator on the I phone 10 yesterday and I could not put in

subtract after putting in the figures and once I pressed the equals, there were
no results.

If the calculator isn't working please do let me know and I will again write to

Thanks.

Braille commands on the Mac.

2018-02-18 Thread Kawal Gucukoglu
Hi.

This morning I have been using my Focus on my Mac and have noticed some good
improvements with reading messages using the braille display.

However as I write this message I cannot see any braille and I can't use my
braille display to write with.

Is there anything special we need to do to get interaction with writing
messages on the braille display please?

Also I can't find a way to copy, cut or paste text as you can do so on the I
phone.

If I hear that we can't do this then I'll write to Accessibility.

Thanks.

Kawal.

2018-02-18 Thread Kawal Gucukoglu
Thanks Mark.

You have it right, on the 5th generation of Focus the dot 4 dot 1 will not
produce the at sign and nor will dots 4 6 dots 3 6 to produce the underscore
when trying to write an e-mail address.

Re: Copying some text from an iBook does not seem to be possible

2018-02-18 Thread Anne Robertson
Hello Mary,

Have you tried the VO command to save the last spoken phrase to the clipboard?
On iOS, this is a quadruple tap with three fingers, on the Mac it is VO-Shift-c.
Cheers,

Anne

Re: Copying some text from an iBook does not seem to be possible

2018-02-18 Thread james . londonsw15
Hi Marie

Once I interact with the page I am able to use normal text selection methods
option shift left and right arrow et cetera to select words or command shift
left and right to select lines. I have never had an issue copying text. In fact
this is one of the features that I really like in iBooks.
