Both 16 yrs old the winning boarder and skier,

Big things there in future.

Hi Anders,

Glad it worked. Yeah, we watched the curling last night and it was sad. I
guess we can't win curling all the time.

Have a good one..

By the way, Sweden is out of the tornament so there’s no risk for Canada.
And Canada made a great job with Finland so i guess things are as normal as

RE: Microsoft 365

2018-02-21 Thread Simon Fogarty
Hi ET ,

It depends on which package you purchase but yes you can get a licence that
lets you run office 365 or office 2016 as it is on your computers on more than
one device,

I have a licence that allows me to run it on up to 5 devices so I have it on
my windows notebook, mac notebook and my iPhone x,
Plus my licence also lets me share with up to 5 people so I have shared it with
my nephew for his studys.

You wil need to setup a Microsoft account as that's what they use to sign in
to activate the software,

Take care when purchasing a package as they have multiple options in cluding
web based applications only, with one app and not another
Or you can go for a more business level plan which can give you exchange
email, sharepoint online, and loads of other things that only Microsoft know of.

Good luck.

Does a 365 subscription allow use on more than one computer? I have the

Windows 10 would require I upgrade DBT to version 12. Input is welcome.

Hi!
I have a Huge! Problem.
I bought an Ipad mini in July 2016 which has worked flawlessly until last
saturday.
Then the battery was drained when i was listening to the Olympics and i think i
forgot to lock the ipad so it was of corse drained faster.
Anyhow i can not start it up.
I have tried to recharge it through a wall plug and also tried to hold the home
and the on/off/lock/unlock button together for 15 seconds to get it started.
This does not work for me.
I have tried connect it to my Mac while holding down the home key so that
Itunes starts in recovery mode for the ipad.
I get an error message -9 something and that it could not send a message to the
device.
I hope its not lost so i have to go en get me a new one.
I am using apple cables only if this is a problem.
Anything else i can do before i contact Apple support and ask for repair?
I have no apple care plan for this device so i guess this will drain my
Echonomy somewhat.
Luckely i have an Ipad mini 3 here which works even though its slow but it
works.
Any help is ofcorse appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Re: good podcasting app for the apple watch

2018-02-21 Thread Alex Hall
You can choose what syncs with Apple Watch in the Watch app on your phone,
under the Music item in the My Watch tab. Series 3 can play any Apple Music so
long as you're on wifi (or cellular, if your Watch can do that), but I'm on
Series 2 so can't play with that ability. I don't know about the Beats, but I'd
guess yes, since they use the same primary chip as AirPods. As with Series 3,
though, I don't have them to say for sure.

 Hi everyone,
so over the weekend, I purchased a new apple watch and so far I love it.
However, I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good podcasting app
for it? I have downcast installed on the watch, but downcast doesn’t
appear to be working. what I mean by that is, it shows when a podcast is
playing, yet I am not hearing anything from my bluetooth headphones that I
have connected to the watch. However, when I check the watch, it shows the
podcast is actually playing. so, this has ultimately lead me to find a
 better alternative.
As I listen to podcast when I workout, this is quite a big deal for me and
will force me to bring my phone with me on my workouts just to be able to
listen to podcasts if there isn’t a better alternative.

2018-02-21 Thread Anders Holmberg
Hi TIm!
THanks and thanks again for your great help.
It seems to work as expected now.
I just have to set it up properly and restore all the content.
By the way, Sweden is out of the tornament so there’s no risk for Canada.
And Canada made a great job with Finland so i guess things are as normal as
possible if we don’t talk about the Ladies Curling.
BUt i wont do that since i don’t understand that game anyway.

Getting to NiceCast VoiceOver effect problematic with VoiceOver

2018-02-21 Thread Joshua Tubbs
Hi all,

Does anyone know of a way to get to this consistently? I click effects, route
the mouse to the scroll area and click. I got the menu to come up once today,
but otherwise cannot get it to come up. My listeners tell me that Radiologik’s
line in that’s doubling as the mic is too quiet, and I don’t know how to turn
gain on.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Can anyone provide some assistance on Google Sheets or any resources?

2018-02-21 Thread Des Delgadillo
Hi all,

I’m using Google Sheets more and more for work and although I have a strong
enough understanding, I’m still running into a few snags. I think a lot of it
is that I’m missing some basic shortcuts.

The most frustrating issue right now is when editing a sheet with multiple rows
selected, I can’t seem to edit each cell individually. So, for instance,
Chromevox will read “cell A1-A4 selected” but when I go to edit, say for
instance Cell A 2, it will automatically jump to A5, the first cell not in the
selection. I’m not sure how I can go cell-by-cell when this happens.

Can anyone suggest a good resource to better familiarize myself with the
shortcuts?

Alternatively, if someone is on here who is really proficient with Sheets, can
you email me directly at desdelgadi...@gmail.com
? This is a Mac list so I’d like to keep the
Google traffic to a minimum if possible.

Thanks so much everybody.

Mark No Longer on Echo Plus but Now on Echo Dot: (It's a Sound Thing), (Smile)

2018-02-21 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Everyone,

Okay, this is difficult to admit, especially on-list, but, I returned my
Echo Plus.

Why? Because I couldn't stand the sound quality. Now I must tell you that
I have some hearing loss, especially in the upper frequencies. In fact,
only in the upper frequencies. As a result, I prefer speakers that either
boost the upper frequencies or that are not heavy on the bass.

Well, when I purchased the Echo Plus, I thought Alexa had an onboard
equalizer. In fact, there are several articles and a YouTube video, made by
Amazon, demonstrating this feature. However, I discovered that recent
updates to the software have, for now at least, removed this feature.

Without an equalizer, to me, audio from the Plus sounded as though it was
being emitted from a trash bin; this is to say, muffled. Again, this is
just my opinion.

Remember, I purchased Echo for audio game play and fun, not music. As I
listened to Echo Plus, I found myself straining or, having to turn up the
volume to a level that I found unreasonably high.

So, I took it back and purchased a cute little Echo Dot,
black-onblack-on-black, of course. The Echo Dot is sometimes referred to as
being the top part of the Echo Plus, only. This is to say, it does not have
a bass or mid-range speaker but only the tweeter. This is just perfect for
my purposes. I can now comfortably understand Alexa at very low volume.

I'll tell you one thing, my experience with the Echo Plus audio has made me
appreciate the elegance of the HomePod sound quality, even more.

Mark

Same iOS App, Two Different Experiences on Two Different iPhones, the Alexa App

2018-02-21 Thread M. Taylor
Hello All,

I have been contacted, off-list, by several VoiceOver users who claim that
the Alexa for iOS app is somewhat sluggish on their devices, as a result,
they prefer to use the web browser interface. They questioned why I stated
that the iOS version of the app was easy to use.

Well, I did some testing and found that the VoiceOver experience will vary
depending on which iPhone one uses.

I used the app on two iPhone 6 Plus units and two iPhone 6 S Plus units and
the app functioned as expected.

However, when I ran the app on either a 7 Plus or an 8 Plus, I did, indeed,
find the experience somewhat less satisfying. In fact, there were some
serious video display problems requiring me to restart the app several
times.

Now that I think about it, the only way I was able to consistently navigate
through the various elements of the app was to use my vision. For example,
sometimes tapping on a button resulted in no response from the app, at all.
Depending upon the video display malfunction, VoiceOver focus can drift as
one scrolls through the app, very disappointing.

So, there you have it.

I suggest that, for the most consistently accessible experience configuring
Alexa, use a web browser and go to alexa.amazon.com.

I apologize for any frustration I may have caused anyone because of my
previous post on the Alexa for iOS app.

Re: Ipad Mini 4 Wont start.

2018-02-21 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

Connect it via USB to your Mac and leave it connected for about 10 minutes
before going into iTunes. After the wait, open iTunes and see if the iPad is
visible through iTunes. If not, make sure that the cables you're using do
properly work. Even though they are Apple cables, they can fail after fibres
break. To test, just connect that same cable to your iPad 3 and see if it
charges. Do the same test for the power block. If the block is OK as well as
the cable, then there likely is a bigger issue. If you find any
inconsistencies with the cables or power block, try charging it with a known
working cable. Allow it to charge for at least half an hour before doing any
other troubleshooting. After the half an hour of charge, I'd try connecting
again to your Mac. This is the best way of knowing if the iPad is responding.
If iTunes on your Mac sees the iPad, then we can have hope. I would also try
the restore method that you already attempted whereby you hold down the Home
button while starting it up with a USB connection to the Mac. Note that this
method only works if the iPad is actually powered down prior to the USB
connection to the Mac. If the iPad is somehow powered up but you're just not
able to tell due to no audible indication, that method will return an error.

Allowing your iPad to drain as you did should not have been any reason for this
problem. Now, if you were watching the Olympics and Sweden was beating Canada,
then that could be the problem :), that's simply not allowed in my world.

Re: Messages in Facebook problem

Unfortunately, I can only answer one of your questions.

The messages app on Macintosh used to work with Facebook messages but no longer
does. I believe for a while after they dropped support for the JABBER protocol
that another application perhaps called trillium could still do messaging with
Facebook. I have pretty much kept away from FB messaging services.

Best Wishes,

Re: Are people successfully using VIM with VO or TDSR?

2018-02-21 Thread Jonathan Cohn
I have used vi on Macintosh with Terminal and VO. I am pretty sure that the VI
on Mac is just a link to VIM. There was a little weirdness with cursor
positioning, but I could certainly get things done. That being said, I used VI
with screen enlargement software in non curses mode when I started needing 36pt
fonts, so I needed to know all the ex/vi commands in order to get things done.
For example, I don’t use arrow keys with VI and understand how to do things at
the : prompt.

What is the second screen reader you mention in your question? Also, where are
you running into difficulties?

Thanks,
Jonathan

Attention, Epson Workforce Wireless Printer Scanner Users

2018-02-21 Thread Sharon Hooley
Hi,

I want to buy a Workforce Wireless Epson Printer Scanner, which I remember
someone recommend on at least this list, the Mac Visionaries or techtalk list.
If you’re still using one, which Model number do you think is best these days?

Thanks,

Re: good podcasting app for the apple watch

2018-02-21 Thread aliFaisal
Hi,
Thank you. Yes, it is highly inconvenient so hoping it podcast playback comes
to the watch in the future. So for now at least, I will just have to use my
phone for podcast.
Alex, have you also found that music playback is also fairly limited on the
watch? I am a apple music subscriber, but I can only see some of my playlists
but that’s all. I can navigate through artists, albums, songs etc, but I also
thought I would gain access to the “for you” section but I didn’t see it on the
music app for the watch.
And finally, could I have my phone paired to my BeatX, while my watch is paired
to it? I know the AirPods have this capabilities, but not sure if the BeatsX
has it too.
Thanks

Donna,

In Pages under the View menu, you have an option to show or hide word count.
It has a shortcut key attached to it. Have a look.

Ipad Mini 4 Wont start.

2018-02-21 Thread Anders Holmberg

Best regards….

Messages in Facebook problem

2018-02-21 Thread Andrew Lamanche
Hi,

I’d like to ask the list how you deal with reading and writing messages or
chaats in facebook on the mac (not iPhone). Can you use iMessage app on the
mac to do so? I’ve tried to use messenger.com website
to do so but it’s still very tricky. Is there an application for mac OS I
could use with the messages for Facebook? I’ve also tried menu tab for
facebook but it’s not much better than the website itself. m.facebook.com
is slightly better but takes me for ever to deal with
messages and I cannot find a way of reading the text of the message thread
reliably especially if I need to examine the content carefully or copy from the
text. I’d appreciate any tips or suggestions. Thank you.

Andrew
