Creating hard drive space by purging data on my hard drive

2018-07-16 Thread Antonio Guimaraes
Hi all,

I've deleted lots of junk from my hard drive in order to create space for a
Bootcamp partition.

This freed up 200 gigs on my drive, but it is still considered purge data.

I don't know how to quickly get rid of the purged data. I am not even sure what
exactly purged data means. I think it means unused old files on my computer,
but I don't know if they are old files I have decided to keep in a folder, or
if it is more like songs I heard 3 years ago in iTunes, and never heard again.

At any rate, I am going to trust that Apple will not delete say, my folder with
mp3's I recorded in school 20 years ago, and saved in a folder with all my
files, and just haven't listened to in 10 years.

I want to free up what I already think is free space on my hard drive by
deleting this purge data once and for all.

I downloaded, installed, and ran a scan with something called Clean My Mac that
would do this for you, but only completes the task after you purchase the
program for $38.

I've gone to about this Mac, then toolbar, then storage, then manage, and
optimize storage. Nothing there indicates I can delete purged data immediately.

Are there any other solutions?

Best,

Antonio

The following

a warning to those running high Sierra with bootcamp

2018-07-16 Thread 'aliFaisal' via MacVisionaries
Hello all,
So I found out the hard way. Apparently, if you’re running mac OS high sierra,
the bootcamp control panel does not recognize the mac OS partition as a valid
startup disc. When I tried to boot in to mac, the only option available was the
windows partition.
The only way I found that works if you wanted to boot in to mac was resetting
the pRam. If anyone has any other way of doing this, please let me know as this
is a huge problem for someone like me that has to switch back and forth from
windows to mac.

RE: macbook with touchbar vs macbook pro with touchbar

Not seting up Windows on Mac. I have my eye on the 13 inch MBP that just came

And as they’ve just released the new range or models of the touch bar 13 and 15

The touch vbar doesn’t from what I’ve been told work well if you setup windows
in a boot camp install and want to use the touch bar with windows.

Only the Pro has the Touch Bar as of right now. There are 13- and 15-inch
variants of the Pro, though, and a somewhat less powerful Pro with no Touch Bar
and two less USB ports.

As to the Touch Bar itself, it’s usable. A few things can be nice, like an
actual volume slider instead of the volume moving in set increments when using
key commands. I also like having my tabs in Safari and, for the rare times I
use it, the emoji picker. Overall, though, I use so many keyboard commands that
having the same items available on the Touch Bar doesn’t improve my experience.
I don’t dislike the Bar, but neither do I like it enough to consider it an
important feature were I searching for a new Mac. Also, if you run Windows,
you’re going to have a harder time of things with the Touch Bar.

All that said, if you’re after a Pro, you will almost certainly end up with the
Touch Bar. The Retina MacBook, MacBook Air, and low-end 13-inch MacBook Pro
lack the Bar, but all the other Pros have it. It’s possible that Apple will
update things this year, but they just refreshed the hardware in the Pros, so I
kind of doubt it. Still, if you can hold on a few more months, it might not
hurt to see what they have in store in September or October.

I will be sharing this article with those I know who might not be aware.
Personally speaking?
There is no way in this universe that I would allow that to happen..for

  no.

Bluetooth headphones

2018-07-16 Thread Simon Fogarty
Hi List,

I know this is a subject that has been discussed here a number of times.

I'm looking for a Bluetooth or USB connected headset to use with a Cisco
Jabra softphone system for work.

The software seems to be ok with the mac but there is also a windows software
also.

But what I need is a headset that I can run from my mac book pro something
small good quality and long battery life if a Bluetooth UC device for one ear.

Can anyone suggest something that will work well and is going to give me a
good quality call with clients
As well as a great battery life for the day?

Any help would be appreciated.
