Re: No way to import daisybooks into easyReader.

2018-10-11 Thread Erik Burggraaf
That would be me. Have you found any way to get books into the IOS
version? ...Anything at all? I don't see it. So for example, if I sign
in to cela library, I could presumably download books straight to the app.
However, NNELS is not yet supported. So if I download a daisy book from
NNELS, is there any chance of getting it over to the IOS device for easyreader?

Dropbox would have been convenient, but I'll take anything.

Thanks,

Erik

Re: Youtube in safari.

2018-10-11 Thread Pete De Vasto
I’ve not had a whole lot of trouble with YouTube videos. There’s a YouTube
player frame that you need to get into in order to get control. One thing to
look for also is that there’s a Mute button inside the frame. Sometimes, the
player is muted, and the button actually says Unmute. As soon as I click it,
voila, sound. Hope this makes sense.

I now have tried this and sadly i can not find a way to do this.
This was very discouraging to me as i thought it would work as on android.
But one could always mail to dolphine computer and ask them for that feature.

Re: Broken EFI after Mojave upgrade

2018-10-11 Thread Maurice Mines
Hello, I’ve been doing some thinking, you might wish to do a clean
install of OS X Mojave, especially if you have a fully backed up Lenox
partition that you can reinstall after you do the clean mahogany
install? That might actually solve your problem. Before doing that
though I would strongly suggest figuring out how big that partition is
subject before you wipe out your drive you have a record of the size of
both of the partitions. I am trying to deal with two interesting issues.
While virtualizing my Windows 10 is a great thing. Because I am more
deaf than blind depending on what I’m doing, virtualizing Windows to
lease me with no braille display path if you will. Apparently the human
where brilliant drivers for jaws do not work in a virtual environment.
So I am going to have to come up with a way to take my virtual machine
and converted to a boot camp configuration possibly.

The other issue I’m having actually knew might have some suggestions
for, I have a Fedora core 28 virtual machine. But unfortunately have no
speak up, and no no, which means no orca. As a time to blow this
installation away and start all over again with maybe a customized ISO
image? Because having family members that have no knowledge of Lenox
trying to reading is certainly not the way to go.

Any thoughts on these issues? I only other thought is VMware Fusion 11
is certainly helpful, but I’d really wish yes that after you create
the virtual machine window and log into Windows that the system does not
switch into community view. It makes it very hard on Jaws. Sometimes I
really do wish that Apple would just open up the entire boot camp thing
and allow any operating system therefore one could allocate his, her own
hard drive space and put whatever operating system he, she wishes that

This discussion though, I’m wondering if this can continue on list or

My current problem appears to be the result of upgrading osx from High

seems

unable to follow through. The USB 3.1 stick containing the Linux
installation has not changed. Exactly what used to work under High
Sierra is what no longer works under Mojave, though it's clear Mojave
is

correctly reading the configuration data because it's error messages
correctly identify the root Linux partition by UUID.

And, addressing your point, I have thought of mounting via virtual
machine. Once upon a time I had VMware working, but I got tired of the
regular upgrades to VMware which seemed never to improve the
accessibility of the product. I had it working, but it wasn't a
compelling environment for me, and I had a good deal of trouble
between

the guest OS and the vm chrome.

I have not had the time to learn how to create a Virtual Box

to do the same thing. It's what I would try next. I'm quite finished
with VMware.

The same USB stick that worked perfectly well under High Sierra no

The error message on screen complains of an inability to find the

Re: bookmarks in Safari

hi,

Normally, I would go under the Bookmarks menu, choose Edit Bookmarks, then
interact with the resulting web area. Within there, interact with the table
which is laid out in a tree format where titles like Favourites and Bookmarks
Menu are listed and expandable. Navigate to the item you wish to move, cmd-x
to Cut it, then navigate to where you want it to be and cmd-v to Paste it.
Repeat the process as many times as you need to organize them in the locations
you want.

Re: Broken EFI after Mojave upgrade

2018-10-11 Thread 'Tim Kilburn' via MacVisionaries
Hi Janina,

My experience regarding downgrading to a previous system tells me that it would
not necessarily be successful. Firmware upgrades tend to be permanent upgrades
and are very difficult to retrofit. Apple doesn't even make firmware upgrades
publicly accessible as they are accessed directly from Apple's servers during
the installation process. That's part of why an Internet connection is
required during installation of High Sierra and newer. I think that the
forward looking solution is your best option. There's bound to be some much
smarter people than me in the same situation as you that will post workarounds
in the next while. Well, smarter may not be the best word, but certainly
better at this level of tinkering ;).

I've learned some useful, though minor facts now. I understand what used
to be /boot is now at /System/Library/CoreServices/. That's where I'm
finding an updated boot.efi and I'm confident it's the problem boot.efi
because it's date corresponds to my upgrade from High Sierra to Mojave.

I don't see yet how to edit it, or any of its preference settings. It
reports as a binary file:

CoreServices#file boot.efi
boot.efi: PE32+ executable (EFI application) x86-64 (stripped to
external PDB), for MS Windows

I suppose my other option is to downgrade back to High Sierra? I would
guess that's also a "cross your fingers" kind of thing, though. So, for
now I'm poking around for a forward facing solution.

PS: I can boot a USB stick that mounts like a CD ROM, i.e. at the device
level, not the partition level. That is clunky, but may suffice for my
business trip late next week.

Thanks again for the ongoing support. It's actually been valuable
because I've learned useful stuff. One doesn't usually worry about the
boot process until it breaks. My experience with computers, though, is
that's a "when" situation, not an "if" situation!

Maria,
An external USB keyboard is the easiest approach. You can use it when in
VMWare and switch back to your BT keyboard when on the Mac.

Subject: a couple of new macs

So, my macbook and one of my mac minis would not run Mojave, so I
figured it was time for an upgrade. Supposedly Apple is coming out with
some new macs next week, however, based on the possible rumors, I
decided to upgrade now for a couple of reasons. It's long been thought
that Apple will discontinue the macbook air, and I really like that
design. I got to try the keyboard that is used on the new Macbook pro
and Macbook and I really didn't like it, I found myself making many
more typing mistakes because it's harder to tell the keys apart, so I
decided to get a Macbook Air since they may not be around much longer.
I also got a new mac mini, there are rumors that Apple may update the
minis and there is also rumors that Apple may discontinue the mini
altogether. Again, I like the design of the current Mac Mini so I
decided to get one now. More than likely, if Apple does discontinue the
Macbook Air, whatever replaces it will probably have the new style
keyboard and I really did not want that. Also I saw no reason to get a
Macbook Pro since I can't see well enough to benefit from the better
display, and the Macbook that only has one USB C port that is also used
for charging is a joke, any laptop should always have at least 2 USB
ports. I will be curious to see what Apple introduces next week but I
was able to get exactly what I wanted for an upgrade.

Re: Broken EFI after Mojave upgrade

2018-10-11 Thread 'Janina Sajka' via MacVisionaries
Thanks Tim, and also thanks to Jonathan for the 2T pointer.
