ah, I bet that’s what it is.
It happens when I’m listening to music, or don’t touch the mac in awhile.

2018-12-07 Thread 'Tim Kilburn' via MacVisionaries
Hi,

Are you able to repeat the exact phrase that is being announced? Usually, if
it's asking you to log into something, that dialog will remain findable. If it
goes away, then it wasn't really asking you to log in. There used to be some
sort of authentication prompt that would announce itself when your screen went
to sleep, but I haven't heard of that one in a bit. I guess it could still be
present if your Mac doesn't lock itself when screen saver or sleep is activated.

Hi ET,
Yes Zoom can do it.
The Avid Pro tools beta teem I'm on uses zoom to capture everything including
VoiceOver.
I use it on my mac mini while testing Pro Tools, I'd half to refer to my notes
as to the steps though.
Also Zoom us has a free version that allows you to use all the features for "40
minutes".

Re: Screen Recording with Voiceover Audio

2018-12-07 Thread 'Tim Kilburn' via MacVisionaries
Hi,

This is totally doable on iOS if you also have a Mac. You can connect the iOS
device to your Mac with the USB charging cable. Go to QuickTime on your Mac
and choose "New Movie Recording" from the file menu. In the resulting window,
VO-space on the "Show Capture Devices" pop-up and select the iPad or iPhone for
both video and audio capturing. By default, the volume seems to always be
muted, so VO-left to the Full Volume button and press it. Finally, VO-right to
the Start Recording button and press it. Because you are doing a movie
recording, you get both the video and audio from the iOS device recorded by
QuickTime. Press the Stop button to end the recording and edit/trim/save your
product.

This appears to be more challenging on the Mac. I can use an app called
Reflector to capture the video content, but the VoiceOver Audio is more
challenging. I've got some ideas, but need to round up a cable or two to test
before I make any commitments as to its usability. The audio and video is
mirrored when using Reflector and an iOS device, but I haven't bothered messing
with recording this way yet.

HTH.

windows and Spaces on Mac OS

2018-12-07 Thread Paul Hopewell
Hello,
I am running Mac OS Mojave 10.14.1 on my 2017 iMac.

I am confused about spaces on the Mac. As a VO user I would like to set up my
Mac so that every application runs in its own full screen size window and use
Command+tab to cycle round these windows. At present I use a single space and
when I ask my sighted wife for sighted help she tells me that I have lots of
open overlapping windows and she cannot see what is going on. As a VO user I am
not aware of this and don’t know how to help her. Also some applications,
especially 1 password, obscure other windows and I have to quit these apps to
use other apps. I have tried the hide others command when running an app but
that does not help.

When I used Microsoft Windows I set up defaults so that all windows were
maximised and then used Alt+tab to cycle round them. that worked well for me.

I tried spaces on Mac but could not figure out how to use them with VO.
Do you have these problems and have you found a way to fix them?
Many thanks….

Paul Hopewell
