Re: Mojave not workingg well for me

2019-01-13 Thread Georgina Joyce
Hello Mike,

I have now just done that. VoiceOver died during the migration assistant so I
left it over night. CMD + F5 has brought Daniel back. However, no braille. Has
USB braille support for the Brailliant displays been deprecated? How do I
review VoiceOver crash logs?

Yes I’ve heard of anecdotal references to doing a clean install but where is
the scientific evidence? One person doesn’t make scientific evidence and we
have other things to do. I’m sure I am not the only one to apply time saving
measures to activities in my life. After all, Apple would force a fresh install
if it was absolutely necessary.

I had no intention of upgrading but the nags to upgrade became a pain.

Regards,

Gena

Also apple music is available through amazon alexa now or at least on echo

I've been trying to get my itunes library from my server to be seen by my echo

Hi all,

After about a month of trying to set up a smart home using Apple home, my
husband and I have finally given up and gone with Alexa. I would very much like
to be able to play my iTunes library on our Alexa device. Does anyone know if
there’s a way to do this?
Thanks,

RE: Is it possible to pair a HomePod with a stereo system?

2019-01-13 Thread Simon Fogarty
Hi Donna, do you mean
Play the CD on your stereo but listen to it through your iPhone?

You'd have to some how stream it through something your iPhone could connect to
and play it through a media app but what that would be is the question.

Hi all,

My husband and I have some music that is on CD that we have not imported to my
iTunes library. Because of that, we still use our stereo system. Is there
anyway to pair the iPod with that system so that music that we play from CDs
could be played on an iPod?
Cheers,

Re: sick of safari busy

2019-01-13 Thread Jonathan Cohn
Hello,

I rarely encounter safari busy messages anymore as compared with beEl Capitan
Safari. The only other accessible browser on the Macintosh is Chrome which will
occasionally work better. I do believe that Facebook still can cause Safari to
get confused if you have cursor tracking on, and you don’t use the j/k keys to
navigate from post to post.

Re: Does anyone know if it’s possible to play your iTunes library using Alexa?

2019-01-13 Thread Mary Otten
Hi Donna, in order to set up Apple Music, you need to use the Alexa app on your
iPhone. This is what an article I found says to do, and I think it is what I
actually did. Open the Alexa app and tap the menu in the top left corner. Of
course for us it’s double tap. Next, double tap settings. Then within the
“Alexa preferences“, double tap “Linc new service“. Double tap “Apple Music“.
Then double tap “in able“ then follow the instructions to link your Apple ID.
If you want Apple Music to be your default, which I did, you can after you got
it connected, go back into settings on your Alexa app.

Mojave not workingg well for me

2019-01-13 Thread Georgina Joyce
Hello All,

I have a Mac Mini 2013 with 16GB of RAM. All previous upgrades have gone well.
However, just before Christmas I upgraded to Mojave and I keep having some kind
of VoiceOver crash. I have reinstalled Mojave 3 times now. Each time it works
well for a week or so. Then I get busy notices. I can leave it and it doesn't
calm down. If I CMD + tab it crashes i.e. VoiceOver will not talk nor restart.
When I try to restart although VO does not speak sound has not crashed as time
announcements are announced as configured. I have set all voice output to
Daniel. If I leave the machine for a while the same crash occurs. I can CMD + w
and q in an attempt to close running applications. I can Eject + CTL and
shutdown which works. It is something to do with VoiceOver but I haven't seen
anyone else have the same issues. I have a Brailliant 40 display connected via
USB which doesn't work during normal operation. However, it does during the
install process.

I intended upon doing a fresh install last time but neglected to wipe the disk
first.

How do I look through the logs to see what is going on? If a clean fresh
install does not fix these issues. What other investigations can I undertake?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Gena

Re: Help setting up Apple music

2019-01-13 Thread 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries
Hi Jonathan,

Thanks. It's too bad that there's no way back to that original screen, but I
suppose it's not the end of the world. Thanks for the info.

Interesting about the Overcast app. I don't listen to that many podcasts
because I just don't have the time. But I do like the idea of being able to
move forward and backward by 30 seconds when I do. Something to think about
once we're done with this home automation setup thing.
Cheers,
Donna

Re: Help setting up Apple music

2019-01-13 Thread Jonathan Cohn
I couldn't find it either. You can search for an artist and then under the more
menu you should be able to indicate like or dislike. Certainly not as automated
as the initial screens, but can help with getting the For You screen to have
music you are interested in. Personally, I usually just search for an artist or
song and in the song menu there is create a station which will try to create a
playlist of similar music.
Oh and if you keep getting download sounds while iTunes is running, it is
probably the podcasts portion. I plan on moving all my podcasts to Overcast,
partly because of this, and also because I like that by default next and
previous in the Overcast app move by 30 seconds and not a complete podcast.

Best wishes,

Hi Donna,
I’m confused. Your subject line says HomePod, but the body says iPod. Depending
on the connections, it would be possible to connect an iPod to your system, but

Re: Does anyone know if it’s possible to play your iTunes library using Alexa?

2019-01-13 Thread 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries
Hi Mary,

I just signed up for Apple Music this morning. Still haven’t figured out quite
how it works. If you have Apple Music, how do you go about playing your I tunes
library?
Thanks,
Donna

Re: Does anyone know if it’s possible to play your iTunes library using Alexa?

2019-01-13 Thread Mary Otten
Hi Donna,
Is your iTunes library also part of an Apple Music library? That is, do you
have Apple Music? If so, then yes. If not, I am almost certain it’s not
possible. I have Apple Music. So my iTunes library is sort of the same as my
Apple Music library although not entirely, since I have a few things in there
that I didn’t buy or rip into iTunes but just entered through Apple Music.
Mary

Does anyone know if it’s possible to play your iTunes library using Alexa?

2019-01-13 Thread 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries
Hi all,

After about a month of trying to set up a smart home using Apple home, my
husband and I have finally given up and gone with Alexa. I would very much like
to be able to play my iTunes library on our Alexa device. Does anyone know if
there’s a way to do this?
Thanks,
Donna

Help setting up Apple music

2019-01-13 Thread 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries
Hi all,

I just activated my free trial of Apple music. I got to the second screen of
artists, and the cursor must have stopped tracking properly. When I clicked
Like, it was selecting an artist further down in the list. So I exited, hoping
that if I re-opened Music, it would track properly. But now, I can't seem to
get back to the artist selection screen. Can anyone tell me how to do this?
thanks,
Donna
