RE: The Magic Keyboard: Arguments for and against

2019-05-21 Thread Simon Fogarty
There are lots of different options for wifi keyboards,

 The choice is really your's.

As for benefits it's light and portable,
 The battery life is great,
It is an apple device and works with all apple products,
Or you can plug a usb to lightening charge cable in to it and your computer
and both charge the keyboard and use it wired.

a text. Dictation no issues at all. And skipping back and forward between
songs is also easy. Both earbuds have the same set of controls, volume up and
down, and the side button used for answering and hanging up calls, and playing
music. I am not even a audio book fan, but can’t wait to listen to some on
this pair of power beats pro. Battery life, all I can say is wow! Apple
advertises 9 hours, each ear, and 9 hours is what you get. I tested this at
work listening to music and movies, and it lasted 9 hours 3 minutes. The 2nd
time I drained the battery I got 9 hours 18 minutes. So in this case, you are
getting what you pay for. Even caught myself dancing a few times cause the
sound when playing music sounds so good!

Apple’s own AirPods can’t touch these beats, the battery life alone was
enough to make me want to try them. And the sound quality is 2nd to none. If
someone says there airpods are better then power beats pro, then they haven’t
even tried them.

To wrap this up, this is the best headset I have ever used. They sound so

Hi Petrus,

Not sure if Mark is happy for me to say this but you can setup an account in
the Australian itunes store,

I’m happy to give you more info off list if you like but it’s a case of
changing region on your phone and then setup an account,

Having credit in there is the only problem fr you unless you have a credit card
you can successfully put in .

I’ve done this for Australia
UK
And USA as well as home. The other accounts I only thus far have gotten free
applications

Cheers,

Subject: Game of Thrones and the iTunes Store

Hi all,
Once again Apple has managed to frustrate me. I just got an email from the
iTunes Store telling me that there is now a box set for the entire Game of
Thrones series, including the final season. I was curious to see how much it
was and if it had Audio Description. However on opening the button offering me
the box set it told me that it wasn’t available in the New Zealand Store and I
need to sign out and sign back in to an Australian account. I haven’t got one
of those. Why send me the email knowing I have a New Zealand account and then
tell me it isn’t available? I’m still curious as to the cost and weather there
is AD. Now I’m wondering how many more TV shows there are in iTunes that we
can’t get in little old NZ.

Determining the name of a MacBook Pro

2019-05-21 Thread Michael Busboom
Hello everyone,

A rather embarrassing question, but how does one find out the name of a
specific MacBook. I know what I named my MacBook when I first purchased it, but
I no longer remember how I wrote that name, i.e. which letters were uppercase
or lowercase, and whether I inserted a space between letters and numbers. I
could not find this information when I went into the „About this Mac“ section.

Thanks and all the best,

Mike

Re: Game of Thrones and the iTunes Store

2019-05-21 Thread 'Tim Kilburn' via MacVisionaries
Hi,

It's my understanding that it's not really Apple's fault when media is not
available in certain countries. We often have the same problem here in Canada,
but it's media regulations by our CRTC (Canadian Radio and Telecommunications
Commission) who puts up the barriers that regulate this sort of thing. I
imagine it would be a similar regulatory situation in NZ and elsewhere.

Once again Apple has managed to frustrate me. I just got an email from the

Thrones series, including the final season. I was curious to see how much it
was and if it had Audio Description. However on opening the button offering me
the box set it told me that it wasn’t available in the New Zealand Store and I
need to sign out and sign back in to an Australian account. I haven’t got one

can’t get in little old NZ.

Re: Doing a clean install, will THe Super Duper will work?

2019-05-21 Thread 'Tim Kilburn' via MacVisionaries
Hi,

If you use a SuperDuper backup, a Time Machine backup, or any other backup
other than simply re-installing apps from the App Store and other places, it
will not be a clean install. A clean install will require you to wipe the
drive, install MacOS, re-install apps, then copy over data manually.

Re: The Task manager window

2019-05-21 Thread 'Tim Kilburn' via MacVisionaries
Hi,

It sounds like it might be something from one of those Clean My Mac kinds of
apps. If so, you'll need to either remove the app, or see if you can tell it
to not open on startup. check in System Prefs, Users & Groups, under the Login
Items tab. Remove anything you want gone. There is a Delete button after the
table. The checkbox is for something different. The other thing to check is
in the Shutdown dialog, make sure that the checkbox is not checked for
re-opening open apps upon restart.

2019-05-21 Thread Petrus Tuerlings
Hi Simon,
Na, it’s okay. I don’t think I can be bothered having multiple accounts in
different regions.
I was just having a general moan.
But thanks anyway.

Hi,

Yeah, their lawyers would likely drag it out so long that you'd run out of
money anyway. I was just thinking though, sure it might not be available in
the NZ store for whatever reason, but Apple should really know that and not
send you promotional stuff that gets you interested just to shut you down.

Items in my folders display in reverse order or jumbled

2019-05-21 Thread 'Kristeen Hughes' via MacVisionaries
I recently had to do a clean install on my Mac Mini. No every folder I reopen
is displayed in reverse order or not in order at all. I have sort by name
selected and this has never happened before. What am I missing?

I'm assuming you have looked at view options in Finder? There is a group by
and sort by popup menus. Make sure the group by, is none, and the sort by, is
name. This might differ depending on what actual view preference you have
chosen.

Hi,

You may also wish to check in the Header for the view. When in the window with
all the folders, navigate to the Header area, and VO-space on the Name column.
This toggles between sorting in ascending and descending order.

Re: Weather Apps for Mac

2019-05-21 Thread 'E.T.' via MacVisionaries

Shawn,
Do you know if there is q trial version available for this app? What
with the possibility of iOS apps coming to the Mac, it could be a goo
deal. I have Weather Gods on my iDevices so I may just wait a while.

Email programs that are accessible for the Mac?

2019-05-21 Thread Maurice Mines
Hello, I’m wondering what the prevailing wisdom out there years on
what is the best email program when running OS X Mohave? I’m currently
using mandrake but having problems I did download Thunderbird for the
Mac but the setup appears to be inaccessible. But do you default Mac
mail seem to have a nasty problem where the menu that pops open forces
voiceover focus away from the mailbox. Not to mention I met an in
situation where I have to look at multiple mailboxes. So Mac mail but at
least for that type of set up may not be a good idea. Any thoughts,
and/or suggestions?

Male made wouldn’t be so bad if I could delete duplicate mailboxes so
as to have only one box that is configured per email account.

There’s the whole issue I am looking for suggestions and will be
watching the list to see what makes sense to do?

Sincerely Maurice Mines.

Recent changes to Lastpass

2019-05-21 Thread Agent086b
Hi all,
can anybody use recent versions of last pass on the Mac? There has been a

I would appreciate any help.
Thanks,

Re: Email programs that are accessible for the Mac?

2019-05-21 Thread Lorie McCloud
I have multiple mailboxes on my Apple mail and it works fine for me. I haven't
used anything else other than the native Apple mail program. it did take awhile
to get it set up in a comfortable way for me but it was worth it.
