Getting Started with Keyboard Maestro

2019-06-20 Thread Emilio S. Hernandez
Hello everyone,

I am curious what tutorials can be suggested that will help me learn how to use
Keyboard Maestro with voiceover?
I am using High Sierra with Keyboard Maestro version 7.3.1.

Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

Re: Memory sticks

2019-06-20 Thread Lorie McCloud
sometimes I have trouble when I plug a memory stick or card into my Mac because
my Mac doesn't see it at first. even if it doesn't have a name it should say
"noname" or the maker of the memory stick or some such thing. if you press
command-shift-C and arrow up and down and still don't hear anything like that
then unplug it and plug it right back in again. wait 5 or 10 seconds and look
around again. if you can't find anything at all then to my knowledge that means
your computer's not seeing it.

can’t remember. I used to use them with my old windows computer. I
plugged one in and it said my Mac could not read it and gave me an
option to eject it. But the next one I tried nothing happened, I was
at least expecting a dialog box giving me some instructions. But when
I pulled it out it told me that I didn’t eject it correctly. But  it
didn’t tell me how to do that.
I do have an old external hard drive as well which has lots of MP3
audio books on it, but I didn’t want to plug that in until I had some
idea of what I was doing.

Hoping for any advice,
Petrus

Re: Memory sticks

2019-06-20 Thread Petrus Tuerlings
Hi Aleeha,
Sorry, but I tried that. I plugged in the memory stick and navigated to the
finder and couldn’t find the drive, but it still told me to eject it correctly.
But but when I pressed command E it said New selection defined, or something
like that. I’m guessing that was because I didn’t have the drive selected.
I do have a friend visiting on Sunday and he also uses a Mac so I’ll wait till
he is here.
Thanks again.

Getting back

2019-06-20 Thread frednavd55
Hi, looking for help for the command that will take you back to where you were
working after somehow getting kicked out of that area, for example a webpage,
and put onto the desktop. How do you go back to that web page? I am a teacher
who is trying to learn voiceover to help my student. I have a whole list of
commands, but I cannot find the one that will take me directly back to the
window I was working. I’ve had this happen several times, I might be working
in Pages, and then somehow get out of Pages and can’t go directly back to it. I
find my way back by going to the dock and then opening a Pages again, but is
there another way to get back when you know you are out of the window you were?

Thanks for your help!

Re: Memory sticks

2019-06-20 Thread Aleeha Dudley
Hi,
When you plug a drive in of any kind, it should show up on your desktop. If you
navigate to the finder, the drive will be there. It is good computer management
practice to always safely eject a drive when you are finished with it. To do
so, find the drive in finder and press Command E.
Hope that helps.

RE: How To Change Your Apple ID from a Third-Party Email Address to a @Mac, @Me, or @iCloud Email Address

2019-06-20 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Harry,

I am, by no means, an authority on this but, as I understand it, you can use
any Apple alias, already associated with your Apple ID as your primary Apple
ID.

For more help on this, search the web or give Apple tech support a ring.

Good Luck,

Mark

I already have an iCloud email address: will I have to use that one or can I
create a different one to use as my Apple ID?
And I read somewhere that you cannot use an iCloud alias for this - is that so?
Thanks

RE: How To Change Your Apple ID from a Third-Party Email Address to a @Mac, @Me, or @iCloud Email Address

2019-06-20 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Donna,

You are quite welcome. I am so glad you found this info useful.

I have several friends who've been trying to do this for the longest time but
could not figure out how to get it done.

It took a little digging on the net but, eventually, I located the right
article.

The funny thing is that, once you know exactly what words to type into the
search engine, the article pops right up; the challenge is finding the right
string of words to get what you want. (smile); such is the sentiment of life..

Mark

Mark,

I have wanted to do this forever. So glad Apple finally made it possible.
Thank you for posting.

Something’s definitely gone wrong with the link. I get the Flying Blind

404 error. I bet someone will report that to Applevis and they’ll try to fix it

Hi all,

Just had to post this.

June 19 2009 was the release date of the iPhone 3Gs, the first release of the
iPhone to have Voiceover. I still remember how excited I was to go to our
local Apple store and buy my first iPhone--to be followed shortly thereafter by

Also in Avid's Pro tools it works when naming audio tracks and a bunch of other
text fields.

Re: Is IOS 13 in public beta?

2019-06-20 Thread maurice.mines
I thought that they normally don’t release a version mobile wells for
public beta Intel mid too late July at the earliest. Has that changed?

There is one feature that I’m excited but slightly concerned about for
obvious reasons, while I want to get rid of junk phone callers just like
anyone else, extending colors that are in one’s context to voicemail
is going to cause a bit of a problem sometime a deaf blind person.
Luckily for me my voicemail directs people to a relay service for the
deaf and deaf blind. Those folks at least I think should be warned that
the call volumes are up to the way up. Hopefully the relay service can
tell the difference between a legitimate color and some quick buck are
best who was trying to use relay to perpetrate something not nice. Any
thoughts?

Outside of all of that I do have one question what the list I just got a
focus 14. I’m using it with USB just simply because the Bluetooth
interface appears to not be compatible with the West 10. From working
with someone cited, the device payers but the entering the code box
comes up so fast that it’s impossible to type in the characters that
would complete the pairing process I’m assuming this is a known
phenomenon. Other any thoughts on whether this unit can actually do
Bluetooth with my MacBook Pro? Or is it the way I really think it is,
but I’m stuck using the USB see cable.

highlighting text in screenshot

2019-06-20 Thread Chris Moore
Hello,

I need to do some screenshots on a selected rectangular portion of the screen.
I’m looking for suggestions. If a sighted person could help set hotspots,
what sequence of voiceOver keys would I use to perform the highlighting?

Would I need to use mouse keys?

TIA

Re: Customizing Default App/Extensions

2019-06-20 Thread 'Bill Gallik' via MacVisionaries
Well, I figured how to change the default program for opening a given
extension (MP3 files defaulting to Quick Time). Selecting an MP3 file and then
entering +i opened the file information dialog where I was able to
then change the default program for all files with the MP3 extension.

The selection for the default program is somewhat buried at the end of the
dialog, but if one sticks with it the item will eventually be encountered.

Re: previous recipients in Apple mail

2019-06-20 Thread 'Tim Kilburn' via MacVisionaries
Hi Simon,

Yes, you are correct. On older Macs, way back when, I believe that the key was
called Backspace, although nowadays, at least according to Mac Keyboard
Practice, it is called Delete. Forward delete was never an item on Macs for
the longest time. My mind still has a hard time wrapping around the need for
forward delete, but I guess that it's a product of the Windows world and the
need for accommodating switchers.

I've become curious about running the beta of IOS 13. I know there are some on
this list who beta, can anyone tell me if a public beta has been released yet?
If yes, where does one obtain it? If not, what would I need to do if I wanted

TIA,

Happy 10th anniversary, iPhone 3GS!

2019-06-20 Thread 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries
Hi all,

Just had to post this.

June 19 2009 was the release date of the iPhone 3Gs, the first release of the
iPhone to have Voiceover. I still remember how excited I was to go to our
local Apple store and buy my first iPhone--to be followed shortly thereafter by
the purchase of my first Mac.

If anyone is interested in a fun trip down memory lane, here is David
Woodbridge's demo of the iPhone 3Gs compliments of the Flying Blind newsletter:

Yes backspace and delete are 2 different keys,
Tim described the keyboard on a notebook
But on your keyboard the backspace key is 2 keys above the return key on the
main section of your keyboard.

Don’t use the delete key as its not going to work for you in this situation.
You could also think of the back space key as the key below the F13 or eject
key on your keyboard,
Hope that helps.
