RE: downloading Mac OS Mojave

2019-11-24 Thread Simon A Fogarty
Hi Ann,

Great to know it’s happening to others,

But I’m not getting voiceover speaking either so either it’s taking a long time
to start up or something more is happening,

But until I get vo running I’m kind of stuck as to where I am in the start up

Thanks though I’ll keep giving it a try.

I’ve left it 5 minutes before trying CMD plus f5 to start up vo and still get

I’ve got a number of Mojave installers but it would appear Apple have killed

try to run them.

I’m not wanting to install Catalina as the machine is being used as a server

Anyone got an installer I can grab a copy of or other ideas on how to get this
thing setup?

Cheers.

I've not struck this before.

The early reviews I've read of the new MacBook Pro are positive.

My 2013 MacBook Pro is still working very well, with good performance. At some
point, however, I'll need to upgrade... but certainly not this year unless the
hardware fails. So I plan to keep reading reviews as new devices are released.

RE: How to set a bookmark in ibooks for iOS

2019-11-24 Thread Simon A Fogarty
Hi Petrus & kevin,

In apples Books app in IOS I’ve never had to worry about setting a book mark as
when I stop or pause the book that is the book mark or point it’s set to.

If you wanted to mark a point of the book to come back to at a later point then
the Books app is not going to work for you from what I’ve found.

You’d need to be able to set a mark point that you could call up even after
reading on.

As for e- books the book mark option in books is the tab directly after the
search tab in the app.
>From the left hand of the books app.

>From the right hand tab it’s approx. 4 tabs back to the left.
In the books I’m reading it goes.

Library tab,
Table of contents tab,
Appearance tab,
Search tab,
Then the book marks tab,
Then the start of the actual book

Hope that helps.

Re: How Do I Pair AirPods with My MacBook?

2019-11-24 Thread 'Eileen scrivani' via MacVisionaries
David,

Thanks, but I did try turning bluetooth on in preferences & I may or may not
have tried pressing the pairing button on the pod’s case. I’ll try it another
time. It just seemed so difficult in comparison to pairing with my IPhone X. In
the case of the phone, the pairing happened automatically as soon as I
unlocked my phone.

I was wondering if issues with pairing them to the Mac Book had any thing to do
with interference from the phone being on my person (but locked) while trying
to pair the pods to the Mac Book.

Thanks.

Eileen

The early reviews I've read of the new MacBook Pro are positive.

My 2013 MacBook Pro is still working very well, with good performance. At
some point, however, I'll need to upgrade... but certainly not this year
unless the hardware fails. So I plan to keep reading reviews as new

Re: How to set a bookmark in ibooks for iOS

2019-11-24 Thread Petrus Tuerlings
Hi Kevin,
Did you work it out yet? I’m guessing you’re talking about audio books, or
ebooks? I had a look in the books app in the book I’m listening to at the
moment and couldn’t find anything to do with bookmarks either. I’m thinking of
writing to apple support to see if they can help. Should I write to the General
apple support or the accessibility email address as we do require VoiceOver
instructions?

Re: MacBook Pro 16

2019-11-24 Thread Robert Carter
Hi,

I just unboxed my new MacBook Pro 16 inch this morning. I am loving it.

You all are right that they are expensive but the basic version sells for
exactly the same price that the no longer available 15 inch MacBook Pro sold
for. You are getting better specs including a much better keyboard with no
price increase. Still, the price of the base model is $2399.

Re: How does one subscribe to the Mac rumors newsletter? And are there other newsletters that would be helpful for one who wishes to stay current with Mac/Apple related news?

2019-11-24 Thread Barry Hadder
Hi Maurice,

At the top of the Mac-roomers page there are a group of links with no text.
Move vo to the “front page” link then right above that there should be a link
to subscribe to push notifications and back from that, there will be subscribe
to email list. However, all vo will say is link.
There are many such sights. Another good one is Apple Insider.

Time machine and cloning are used for different purposes and they complement
one-another rather than one replacing the other. TM is much better to use for
back-up. Cloning is useful for disaster recovery.
