RE: Amazon fire tablets Accessibility with Voice view screen reader

2019-12-08 Thread Simon A Fogarty
So if you have an iPad or iphone why not just down load the prime video app and
watch prime through that,
Or the kindle book app,
Sounds cheaper to me than a new device which may not be accessible.

Has anybody use the Voice view screen reader on the Amazon fire tablets? How's
the accessibility? I might want to get one just for watching prime video and
maybe reading kindle books. They're a lot cheaper than iPads.

RE: lost airpod!

2019-12-08 Thread Simon A Fogarty
Hi Chuck,

Everything we have / require is done through a single call centre for our city
council,
They take the call / log the concern and then pass it on to the correct team
to deal with the situation when they are able to.

In this case they've put it in to their system for an approximately 4 to 6 week
period before they can do anything about the problem.
So I have taken it on as a job to fix myself therefore I have cut back those
trees I can reach the branchs of to cut away, and just ripped the shrub out of
the ground in the cases of the very small ones along the path edge that needed
cutting back.
There are still more to go so I'll hopefully be able to deal with those over
the next few days.

Re: So angry from alarms and notifications

2019-12-08 Thread 'Tim Kilburn' via MacVisionaries
Hi,

The notifications being silenced is normal if your iPhone is set for "Do Not
Disturb". By default, iPhone's are set to enable Do Not Disturb between 11:00
pm and 7:00 am. This would not be a factor in why you're not hearing your
alarm though. Alarms ignore the Do Not Disturb times as well as should also
sound when you've muted sounds with the side switch. Thus, I suggest that you
go into Settings, Sound, or Sound & Haptics depending on your iPhone, then set
the volume to about 40% and make sure that the "Change with Buttons" item is
"off" or disabled. What this "Change with Buttons" option does, if enabled, is
make your ringer and alerts quieter or louder depending on your volume
settings. So, if it is disabled or "Off", then even when you turn your iPhone
volume down, the ringer and alert volume will remain set at a specific level so
you should never miss the alarm again.

HTH.

Later...

Re: Editing Id3 Tags with Catalina

2019-12-08 Thread Robert Carter
Hi,

When I attempted to edit a mp3 podcast file in the Catalina music app, the
option to show tag info was dimmed. I am not quite sure why.

I did discover an ID3 tag editor that works well with VoiceOver called ā€œTag
Editor.ā€ It is available both from the developerā€™s website and in the Mac App
Store.

I also discovered that I can create and edit ID3 tags on my BrailleSense
Polaris.

Hi,

Prior to Catalina, I used iTunes to edit the ID3 tags when I created a podcast.
Now that we donā€™t have iTunes, I am looking for a VoicOver accessible app that
allows for the creation and editing of ID3 tags. I have tried one from the Mac
App Store called music ID3 editor but it isnā€™t as accessible as I would like.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
