Hi Simon,

Good call. Yes, I forgot about that app. Keynote Remote lets you use your
iPhone as a remote control for Keynote presentations.

There is an app for this I’m sure, at least I know there use to be.

Otherwise I know Logitech do a powerpoint presentation remote but I don’t know

Hi,

Sorry for not being particularly specific. What I'm calling a "clicker thing"
is one of those clicker devices that many presenters use. It often has a
Bluetooth connection with go forward/go back buttons, the play/pause button and
some even have up/down volumes. I've used a few and sometimes the Mac believes
them to be a keyboard and brings up a keyboard selector window which you can
just close. The clicker will work properly after closing it as the few buttons
on it appear to be recognized without going through the process of pressing
letters that don't exist on the device. You can usually get these off of
Amazon, or should be available at any office supply retailer such as Staples
etc.

HTH.

Clicker things? Now I'm more than very interested. Please explain.

I've become the de facto audiovisual guy for a group to which I belong that has
a monthly discussion meeting surrounding material in a PowerPoint slide
presentation. Doing this while sitting with my group and running it wirelessly,
either via a Bluetooth keyboard or a clicker device would make big points with
the group leader/facilitator and make it look like I really know what I'm doing
(LOLLOL).

Hi,

The "On click" should respond to the click of a mouse, the click of a TrackPad,
the press of the spacebar and I believe that it also responds to the press of
the return key. You can also use one of those clicker things to do any of
these actions as well as move through presentations.

HI list.
Over the last few days i have had a strange problem occurring. If i am
cursoring around, voice over seems to fade away while it’s reading for a few
seconds.
This seems to be happening in most apps, and all of the voices. It seems to
happen randomly. Has anyone had this occurrence?
I have checked and unchecked the audio ducking.
I have not updated my mac to Catalina as yet.
Any idea how to fix this?

thanks.

2020-02-09 Thread PRAMIT BHARGAVA
Hi Lorie,

Yes, once you have white-listed the website, the AdBlock Plus will not
block the player from loading on audio drama website. You don't have to
uninstall the Adblock Plus for this.
Simply open the AdBlock Plus icon and scroll down to listen to all the
options below. "Don't run on this page" and "Don't run on pages on this
site" are few of the choices available.Chose any one that you want
to use.
Hope this helps!

Jason,
granted i read bookshare books differently and am not as of yet using a

Re: reading bookshare books

2020-02-09 Thread 'Jason White' via MacVisionaries
Bookshare Web Reader doesn't involve a download; the books are read on their
Web site directly.

An interesting alternative that I haven't tried is Thorium Reader, which can
access EPUB books. It's an Electron application that should work with VoiceOver.

Re: Writing Documents using Catalina

2020-02-09 Thread Jonathan Cohn
I don't pay much attention to mark up languages other then HTML these days, but
the most common one of use is "markdown".
I have heard good reviews of Ulysses https://ulysses.app
before. I know it has a subscription based model, but it is also included in a
bundle of applications that costs about the same as Microsoft Office.

Best wishes,

Re: customising VO

2020-02-09 Thread 'Andrew Lamanche' via MacVisionaries
Not Quite. Under File menu, you have a choice of exporting Vo configurations.
What this means is that you can save all the configurations in a file so that
should you need to restore VO, you can quickly get back to all the setup
features you have configured.

Re: Ecobee thermostat?

2020-02-09 Thread John JD Denning
The reason I want to switch from a nest original generation to a HomeKit
thermostat. Is one I would like to be able to control everything from one
program. Two would like to be able to use Siri to control it. And three there
are some things such as Replace filter notifications in the nest that I don’t
like. I don’t care for how it’s done.

And I’m curious why you want IP version six for your home networking? I can’t
believe it’s because of the number of devices you have.

Re: Ecobee thermostat?

2020-02-09 Thread 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries
Re your last question, because I want a thermostat that works with Homekit. I
have a shortcut set up to set the nest to one temperature using Google
Assistant,, but my experience is that sometimes it works, and sometimes it
doesn't. It's also very limited in what it can do.
Cheers,
Donna

Re: Ecobee thermostat?

2020-02-09 Thread 'Janina Sajka' via MacVisionaries
I am curious whether the Honeywell is IPv6 enabled. I've looked on line
but not found this datum. If anyone can knows, I'd be grateful for that
info.

I also looked into the EcoBee some time ago and found it supporting only
IPv4 which is a non starter for me.

Also, I'd be curious to learn why you want to leave the Nest you
apparently already have.

Thanks!

If you are updated to Catalina, you can open the EPUB book in the Books app and
it reads … okay… or, if you are more technically minded, you can install Emacs,
Emacspeak, and use Nov.el to read it.

What do you mean by exporting? Are you talking about the portability feature?

Hello,

I have always had mouse cursor set up to follow VO cursor. As for other
configurations, there are so many you will probably need to experiment.
Remember, once you’ve configured Voiceover to your liking, you can export
configurations and keep them in case you ever have to reset Voiceover. It will
make things easier for you. Good luck.

You can usually get these off of
Amazon, or should be available at any office supply retailer such as Staples
etc.

2020-02-09 Thread Simon A Fogarty
Hi list,

Can someone remind me of the correct command to set the date and time on a

I'm sure I have it right but it's not staying changed.

Chers for any assistance.

Re: customising VO

2020-02-09 Thread 'Andrew Lamanche' via MacVisionaries

Good luck.
