I wonder why the blindfold guy is not supporting it anymore? I find that
strange how he picks and chooses things to work on and throw fits about.

purchasing from the iTunes store

2020-04-22 Thread Lorie McCloud
I was on an audio drama website and wanted to buy a story. Audible only offered
it if I would start a membership trial which I don't want to do so I went to
Apple books. it came up in iTunes for some reason in the British store (I'm in
the US) and it was going ok until I signed in to make my purchase. then it said
I was being sent to the US store. whereupon I landed in Apple m;usic. I don't
know where my item went or even if I actually purchased it or not. if I did,
where would it have gone? I'm still running Mojave.

thanks.

Shirley,

I use piezo. You can record from different sources on the mac. So far, I
haven’t had any problems with it. I am running High Sierra, though and don’t
know if piezo will work with catalina..

Don’t forget the books app on the Mac as well, you can from what I understand
also import audio books into the books app to read , but I’m happy to be
corrected if I’m wrong. as well as the books you purchase through the books
store. But don’t ask me how to do that as I haven’t tried yet.

I'm running Mojave but I can give you a few pointers. for some reason tabbing
doesn't work as wellin Safari as it does in windows. one of the best ways to
move around is vo-right arrow. you get the most detail that way. I use quicknav
a lot to find links, headings and buttons or form controls.

sometimes when you arrive on to a web page you have to stop interacting with
the toolbar. then when you hear "web content" interact with that. if I don't
know anything about the web page I'll press vo-a to have it start reading. if
you've gone to a blog post or an article pressing command-shift-r will say
"show reader" and then you can usually read the text without having to try to
navigate to it.

contact me off list if you want more help. I know this is just a quick
overview and doesn't give very much detail.

Hello All,

Recently I posted about an on-device, self-voicing Monopoly-like game for
iOS, called EarsOpoly.

While I continue to enjoy the game, I am all but certain that it will cease
to function-as-expected in future versions of iOS; primarily because it is
no longer being maintained by the developer, Kid Friendly Software.

A couple of days ago, I contacted the developers of the official Parker
Brothers Monopoly game for iOS, Marmalade Games Studio, requesting that they
add VoiceOver accessibility to Monopoly.

I received a very positive response.

So, I am asking for your support in contacting Marmalade Games Studio with a
similar request. I am certain that they will listen to us if we make our
voices heard.

To contact them, simply do the following:

1.
Go to: https://www.marmaladegamestudio.com/contact/

This should take you directly to the contact form. If it does not then go
to:

https://www.marmaladegamestudio.com/

and then click the Contact link. A short form will be displayed.

2.
In the first edit field, enter your name.

3.
In the second edit field, enter your email address.

4.
In the third and final edit field, enter the text of your message. I simply
asked them to make their Monopoly game either self-voicing or VoiceOver
accessible, so that visually impaired people can enjoy the game.

Re: zoom app

2020-04-22 Thread Lorie McCloud
you might try doing a search for "zoom cloud meetings" and seeing if it directs
you. I got mind from joining a webinar that used Zoom. it asked to install Zoom
before I could begin and it knew exactly which one to download for my Mac.

Re: browsing the web

2020-04-22 Thread Lorie McCloud

I know this is just a quick overview
and doesn't give very much detail.

Re: Recommendations for external mic and possibly mixer

2020-04-22 Thread Phil Halton

I haven’t used it in a while, but when I was into audio recording with Amadeus
pro, are used a Roland quad core interface. It had two XLR jacks or TRS inputs
and as far as Mike’s well, you can use any decent mic with such an interface
from a sure mic on up to the high-end stuff. as to accessibility of the role
and quad core, most of it was accessible, although the interface had its
accessibility problems. These could be gotten around simply by using the knobs
and Diles on the unit without resorting to the software Interface Sent from

Re: Recommendations for external mic and possibly mixer

2020-04-22 Thread Michael Marshall
Hey Eric,
A couple of little recommendations for you.
I say unashamedly that one of my favourite microphone companies is rode witch
is Australian…. like me.
They make a couple of beauties.
If you would like straight up USB, I would recommend the rode NT USB.
I have used this mike a bit and I must say it is pretty good, for a USB mic.
I don't have a lot of time for USB mics in general because you don't get the
best noise flaw.
If you want to go a step up, the rode NT 1 which is connected via a USB audio
interface.
It also comes with a shock mount which is very very handy if you accidentally
knock into it.
They also make a microphone called the Podcaster but I don't recommend it, it's
not one of their better products.
That is just my two cents.

Creating a bootable USB drive from Windows 10 iso?

2020-04-22 Thread Matt Turner
Hi folks.
Is there and easy way to do this on Mac?
I’m not used to using Terminal.
And from what I’ve read, that’s the only way to create the USB.

Recommendations for external mic and possibly mixer

2020-04-22 Thread Eric Caron
Hi folks,

I used to do podcasts but then work and life kept me very busy for
several years. Now I’ve had the desire to do some hopefully helpful podcasts
again. But technology has gone way ahead of me.

I’ve noticed that sound has vastly improved in podcasts. I suspect
more people are using usb microphones on their computers. In some group zoom
meetings and some podcasts the differences are amazing. Most people sound ok,
probably using the computer mic. Others sound like they are standing in the
room next to me!

Can I get some recommendations for a “reasonable “ not the ultimate expensive
choices on a mic and possibly a simple mixer that would work well with my 2018
MacBook Pro?

I’d like to nail this down before exploring my iPhone options.

My goal is to be able to do interviews with one or possibly two people remotely
using zoom or similar platform. I also plan to do some simple software and
application demonstrations, so this would be my voice and the computer or
iPhone.

Hard ware is my first priority and then tips on how to use it!

Appreciatively,

Eric Caron

What about buying a new battery to replace the problem one.

Just for everyone in the group’s information, I tried sending this out a couple
minutes ago with the wrong email address, so here are my comments as a
forwarded message. I hope this helps?

A question for the group in mail, if there any way to set a default descendent
from email address so that the issue that prompted me to write this forwarded
message in the first place doesn’t occur again.

A completely separate second issue this machine is nearing the end of its
useful life, it has a potentially swelling battery. So if it advisable to do
the following? Shut the machine down at the end of the major part of the day
that requires me to use the machine. Leave seven machine unplugged overnight.
Should I be doing anything else?

I will certainly keep Time Machine backups, and of course make use of when
cloned to backup my Boot Camp partition. I’m told it could be 8 to 10 weeks
before the new machine arrives. Things are moving much slower than they were in
the past because of the obvious current situation.

Sincerely Maurice Mines.

If you are talking about the PDT pacific daylight time which I believe is the
UsA's west coast then try lA or san Francisco
Someone in the usa could confirm that for you,

I live in new Zealand which is in the south pacific but we're GMT +12 if I
remember correctly at this time so it really depends on what you mean by
pacific time.the pacific ocean is a bloody big area.

Does anyone know such a time converter?

Thanks and all the best
