Re: Play Counts in Media Library

2020-06-15 Thread 'E.T.' via MacVisionaries

Tim,
An update. I may have found the culprit. When an episode finishes, I
tend to fast forward through the ending credits. I didn't do that
tonight and it worked but will confirm tomorrow. It does also seem that
'mark as watched' is only a temporary thing, possibly is not being
written to whatever it should be.

Re: Play Counts in Media Library

2020-06-15 Thread 'E.T.' via MacVisionaries

Hi Tim,
I enabled last date played. Took a look at the TV series I am
currently watching. The episode I watched last night shows "partly
played" in the status column and no date in the "last date played" column.

Last night I experimented. With the Mac's TV app running and ATV in
the Computers app, I "played" some episode in another series that I had
already watched fast forwarding most of the way and then let it finish
playing. All was fine, ATV went to the next unplayed episode and all was
well on the Mac. Until I closed the TV app.

It's a mystery. Mac and ATV when open is fine. But some file on the
Mac is not being written to when the TV app is closed. I have not been
able to find out what and ehere these files are. That may be the key.

finder moving to the bottom of a list of files

2020-06-15 Thread Chris Moore
Hello
When navigating through a list of files with the arrow keys, the cursor
periodically jumps to the bottom of the list for no apparent reason. Is there
any way to stop this from happening?

What about your ripped music? Was it all still there? I’m really worried about
that, because I bought a lot of CDs that I imported into my music library, and
have since sold the CD to preserve space

Re: Catalina questions.

2020-06-15 Thread 'E.T.' via MacVisionaries
Catalina replaces iTunes with 3 new apps. Music, TV, and Podcasts.
Similar to iOS 13.

Now you access music in the Music and and movies and TV shows in the
TV app.

The only real complaint I have is how Apple handled the iTunes
store. There is no longer an iTunes store app as there is in iOS. I't is
somewhat screwy in the music and TV apps.

Finder is ok. Use Finder to sync content to your iDevices. Yes there
is a dictation button in most places in Finder, same as iOS.

Play Counts in Media Library

2020-06-15 Thread 'E.T.' via MacVisionaries
I watch my purchased movies and TV shows on the Apple TV 4k. Since
Catalina, when I access the media in the Computers app, most of the
time, the play counts do not increment. While the TV app on the Mac is
open, media I watch on the ATV will change the play count. Likewise, any
titles I change on the Mac will adjust on the ATV, So both devices are
communicating.

However, after I close the TV app on the Mac, everything goes back
to previous status. On the Mac, some of the episodes for example will
show a status of 'partly played'. I have not figured out the conditions
when things do change properly. Any ideas?

Re: Apple e Watch Phone Volume

2020-06-15 Thread 'Tim Kilburn' via MacVisionaries
Hi,

A couple of things to note here. First, Angus, the gestures that Jeff stated
are for VO users, those gestures will not be the same when VO is turned off.
Second, alert volume is set in in Settings, Sounds & Haptics. So, whatever you
have the volume set there will affect the ringer and alert volume. I do not
believe that it can be changed on the fly like on iPhone. Lastly, Siri volume
is separate from other volumes including VO. VO volume is set either by the
method Jeff mentioned, or by going into Settings, Accessibility, VoiceOver and
setting it there. Remember that you can either flick up/down on the slider or
use the Digital Crown to set this. Siri volume is found within Settings, Siri.
There is a slider for Siri response volume. If for some reason, it is not
showing up when in Siri settings on your watch, do it from the Watch app on
your iPhone.

Later…
