2020-09-04 Thread Lorie McCloud
I'm trying to enable stereo on my Zoom desktop client. the instructions say to
click profile picture and then click the audio tab. I can't find the audio
tab.apparently you can only do it on the desktop client.

thanks.

Re: strange vo behavior in safari on a Mac

2020-09-04 Thread Lorie McCloud
from what I've been able to determine, the right-arrow on my standard Mac
keyboard has quit working. it's dead. is there any substitute for it anywhere
else on the keyboard? all the other keys are working as far as I can tell. can
anything be done about this or am I going to have to get a new keyboard?

thanks.

I use iText Express. It may be considered out dated now, but meets my needs.
Here is an older AppleVis write up on it.

You can go to https://live.com and get a free account from Microsoft. You
can then use Word online for free. It also includes all the other apps as

There might be an easier way but here is what you can do:
 1. Create a new blank track.
 2. Play the original track until you get to where you want to insert the
 sentence.
 3. Type the letter P to mark that spot.
 4. Type Command-Left Arrow. VoiceOver will say, “Extend to previous
marker. The previous marker. is the beginning of the track in this case.
 5. Type Command-C to copy the selected material.
 6. Use Command-V to paste it into the new track.
 7. Paste the sentence into the new track.
 8. Go back into the original track and place a marker after where the new
sentence would go and type Command-Right Arrow. Then copy the file and
 paste it after the sentence.

Let me know if this makes sence.

Re: Word processor?

2020-09-04 Thread 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries
Hi,

It depends a lot on what you want to do. Notes is mostly just for short notes.
It’s syncs with your i-devices, so is great for keeping track of things like
books people mention, grocery lists, etc.

Pages is a full-blown word-processor much like Word. It will give you all the
capabilities you would find in Word.

I also use Text Edit a lot for files that either only require simple formatting
or are just for my use. It’s very simple to use, and great if you are just
working with a text file that doesn’t have a lot of complicated formatting, use
of tables, etc.

Lastly, there is also Office 365 for Mac. I don’t use it because it requires a
subscription, but if you don’t mind that, I’ve heard good things.

Any of the above choices are fine, depending on what your needs are. If you
need a lot of complex formatting, or if you share Word files regularly with
others, than Pages or Office 365 are your best bet. For simpler tasks, Text
Edit Works great.
HTH,
Donna

Re: Word processor?

2020-09-04 Thread Julie Rattray
Hi,

You can use Pages which is the Apple wp it is really accessible and you can
convert files to word files if you need to.

Word for Mac is also available and is getting more and more accessible - but my
own preference is still pages.

Word processor?

2020-09-04 Thread Rena
Hello,

I'm learning how to use the Mac, and I need a word processor similar to MS
Word. Is the app Pages the right one? What about Notes? Is it also a word
processor?

Thank you,
