Re: Combo boxes on Safari

2020-09-23 Thread Anders Holmberg
Hi!
I suppose this is on a mac.
Have you tried dragging the mouse to the voiceOver Cursor by pressing control
option command plus f5.
If that doesn’t work then you might try google chrome.
Or mail apple accesibility.
The thing with Accessibility is that they very often tell you to ask the
webmaster on certain webs to make the webpage more accessible by referring to
their accessibility developer site.
Which sometimes in my opinion feels like they don’t want to deal with the
problem.

Safari chat unable to enter text

2020-09-23 Thread Ian Harrison
Hi listers,

When in a chat element on a particular web page, voiceover tells me I am in a
text entry area and then says edit message. This would normally mean I could
start typing and get voiceover feedback as I type. However, voiceover is silent
when I hit keys and the edit box does not appear to be accepting what I type.

I vaguely remember this as a problem some years ago but can’t remember the work
around if there is one.

Any help?
Thanks
Ian

Janina from the Silver W3C work here. I recall you mentioning this
release was coming. It sounds good enough to have me reaching for my

now.

Best,

Really happy to see you on this list following up with the accessibility
enhancements. That's the way things should work, imo.

Best,

Full Keyboard in iOS 14

2020-09-23 Thread Danny Keys
Hi list,
Has anyone used the full keyboard option for Bluetooth keyboards? If so, how

I was trying to use it, but discovered that it kind of confuses the touch

Any thoughts.

Safari Version 14

2020-09-23 Thread Pete De Vasto
Hi all,

My sighted wife’s iMac, running Mojave, automatically updated to Safari 14 a
few days ago, and she immediately started having problems with some sites
giving messages about having difficulty loading. She also pointed out that
things looked quite different from what she had previously under Safari 13. I’m
the techie of the family, but my Mac mini, also running Mojave, had not updated
to Safari 14 yet. I decided to bite the bullet and bring my system up to the
same level as hers in hopes I could be of some help to her, so I now also have
Safari 14. Boy, what a heck of a difference! Has anyone else been upgraded to
Safari 14, and if so what have your experiences been? I’m a bit overwhelmed,
and my first thought is I’d love to go back to Safari 13, but I bet that’s not
possible given how Apple does things. I’ll just have to figure out how to get
the best experiences with it. By the way, I think I reached out a day or two
ago asking about the site reloading issue, and think now that it might have
something to do with Safari 14, but not sure.

Thanks for any thoughts!
Pete De Vasto

Re: Safari Version 14

2020-09-23 Thread Jonathan Cohn
Well, I am not sure what the differences between Safari 14 on the BigSir versus
on older systems, but on Bigsir they are promoting that it prevents site
trackers by default. Of course, Safari is not the only browser that has started
doing this. So it is possible, that when Safari blocks these third party
frames (facebook, google analytics, triter) that it changes the look of the
site a bit. I also have had some focus problems with Safari 14 that appear to
be slightly better if you tell VoiceOver to start on the first item on the
window instead of the focused position.

HTH!

Re: Safari chat unable to enter text

2020-09-23 Thread Phil Halton
I run into these types of fields fairly often. I normally do a mouse click on
the field and that opens it up for editing. You could also try simply
interacting with it before typing. In case you don’t know to do a mouse click
first route the mouse to the field with control option command F5, then do the
mouse click control option shift spacebar. That should open it up for typing.

To the persons who actually works for VMware, so far I like version 12

Note number two I am aware that this is a Mac list I'm running Windows
10 in a boot camp configuration the main reason why I am doing this in
Windows is because that's where the dictation software is the company
that produces the dictation software withdrew from the Apple market some
time ago. So that's my only method of dictating to the computer and
having it come out somewhat coherently is to use Windows. I hope this
explains things?

To the list moderators please please please! Excuse this somewhat
off-topic post. It was not intended to be this way but I didn't have the
direct email address of the person I'm am predominantly addressing my
comments to. If either Mart has a problem please feel free to write me

Has anyone used the full keyboard option for Bluetooth keyboards? If so, how
did you like or not like it?
I was trying to use it, but discovered that it kind of confuses the touch

Any thoughts.
