I’ve found that teams on the iPhone is far more reliable.

On the Mac I find that teams is a resource hog.

Hey Tracy. Jessica is correct. It is available through the Mac App Store for

you wish to try it out. Just email me privately. It's an old version but it

Re: Wow, folks still use Trilian?

2020-11-29 Thread Jessica Moss
There’s no cost to use it, and the older versions of the app are still
extremely accessible; I’m not sure about the latest, sense when I last tried to
update several months back, the accessibility was broken, and I had to
downgrade. It’s a great app to have if you want to manage all your various
messenger accounts within 1 app, which I used to attempt to do, but now only
use it for Facebook messenger, sense I stopped using Aim/msn messenger years
ago, and most of the people I used to talk to on both platforms were also on
Facebook, so just found it easier to use 1 account.

Those of you that still use this app, could you tell me more? What can it do?
Is there a cost? Is it from the Mac App Store?

I’ve heard about this app since my very first days of Mac OS 10. Mountain Lion
was my first in 2011.

Re: How do I do a screen recording on my mac?

2020-11-29 Thread Brad Snyder
You use zoom to make a video recording. It saves it as an .M4V format file. You
can then send that file to anyone. How the video file is made is irrelevant.
The person receiving the Video just get the file.

Re: Voices on Bigsur

2020-11-29 Thread Jürgen Fleger
Hi Paul,

in my experience on a german MacBook Air with an M1 chip,
voices section in VoiceOver became pretty buggy. I experienced switching voices
in the beginning and I still experience 2 issues:
1. Control doesn’t really stops the voice from speaking. It just stops one
block of text but starts reading again without me doing anything.
2. The german Siri voices for VoiceOver speak quite sluggish and it doesn’t
matter if I increase or decrease speed rate in VO settings.

Both issues are very annoiing. Let’s hope Apple will fix this rather sooner
than later.

All the best
Jürgen

Re: Safari on a Mac

2020-11-29 Thread Brad Snyder
OK, I just tried this on a different website, and my results were as follows:
website:
https://www.idownloadblog.com/2018/08/17/customize-word-keyboard-shortcuts-mac/

1. With focus on the web contents, I used CMD + L, to move focus to the
address field.
2. Pressing Escape, returns focus to the web content area.

I am able to repeat this behavior on the following site, which is the site I
tried before writing my earlier post. Not sure why my results changed.

Far more frequently I access before the event has started. If you VO

I mention that countdown clock also to note that no further action is

everything works as expected.

Re: Safari on a Mac

2020-11-29 Thread Brad Snyder
Using Safari 14.0.1; from what I can tell, pressing the Escape key doesn’t
really do anything. If the contents of the address bar are highlighted,
pressing the Escape key, unhighlights the current contents of the address
field, but focus remains in the address field no matter how many times the
Escape key is pressed. One still needs to stop interacting with the Toolbar in
order to move focus to the web content area, or anywhere else.

Depends on what type of keyboard you are using.
On an extended keyboard, the END key is the middle key, in the bottom row of
the six keys located above the arrow keys.

Re: live streams on youtube with a mac

2020-11-29 Thread 'Janina Sajka' via MacVisionaries
I join a fair number of live events on YouTube, and my audio is never
muted when I access YouTube.

Far more frequently I access before the event has started. If you VO
left/right around the screen you'll find a countdown clock showing time
remaining before the event's scheduled start. Perhaps that's the issue?

I mention that countdown clock also to note that no further action is
needed. When I see that clock and verify that it's ticking down (by VO
away and then back), I simply leave my Mac alone. Once the event begins,
everything works as expected.

Best,

Janina
