Oh I would be down for something like this especially if they put it on the
back of the phone like they've done on some of the android models. I find that
it has better recognition.

Two iPhone 13 prototypes have under-display Touch ID, says Jon Prosser, iMore

2020-12-13 Thread M. Taylor
Two iPhone 13 prototypes have under-display Touch ID, says Jon Prosser
By Stephen Warwick, December 12, 2020.

Jon Prosser has stated in his latest video that Apple has two working iPhone
13 prototypes featuring Touch ID under the display.

Jon Prosser has confirmed in his latest FPT video that according to sources,
Apple has two iPhone 13 prototypes with Touch ID under the display, despite
previously stating that he personally believed Apple wouldn't go back to the
tech.

It has previously been leaked that Apple might be bringing Touch ID back to
iPhone, and Apple has plenty of patents in its library relating to the tech.
Now, serial Apple leaker, Jon Prosser has confirmed that Apple has not one,
but two iPhone 13 working prototypes with Touch ID under the display.

In his latest FPT video Prosser stated:
"According to my sources, there are currently two working prototypes with
Touch ID under the display panel."

Now, as Prosser rightly notes, the existence of prototypes does not indicate
that Apple will definitely include the feature in the new iPhone, but that
it is at least considering it.

Prosser also noted that the COVID-19 pandemic had highlighted how Face ID
wasn't working very well in the current climate and that it could make sense
for Apple to include the tech despite seemingly moving on from it with Face
ID. He further noted how Apple could use the pandemic as an excuse to bring
back the tech without it looking like Apple was wrong to remove it in favor
of Face ID.

Apple included Touch ID in the top button of its iPad Air, released earlier
this year, a sign that Apple has found a way to incorporate it into the
power button of its devices rather than on the Home Button. The popular
response to this inclusion further highlights how there is definitely a
market for bringing back Touch ID next year.

Re: No sound from voiceover please help

2020-12-13 Thread 'Robert Cole' via MacVisionaries
Hi John,
The solution was not to change the VoiceOver output sound device.
There is a checkbox I’n Zoom to include system audio.
Zoom automatically changed the system sound output from speakers to the Zoom
audio, so after my recording, before closing the Zoom app, I changed it back to
speakers.
I wanted to be on the safe side, It may have changed back on its on, But I
didn’t want to take any chances of loosing VoiceOver speech again.

Re: Typing Arabic With Apple Magic Keyboard US English?

2020-12-13 Thread Brad Snyder
Here are alternate ways to access different categories in System Preferences:

1. After opening System Preferences, use VO + M, to place focus on the
MenuBar, then navigate to the View menu, where you will find a list of all
System Preferences categories. You can type the first few letters of a
category to quickly locate it, then press the Enter key to open the item.

2. Use VO + D to place focus on the Dock, and locate System Preferences, then
use VO + Shift + M, to open the Shortcut Menu for the item. This will reveal
the list of System Preferences categories. You can use the down arrow to
navigate the list, or type the first few letters of a category to quickly
locate it, then press the Enter key to open.
Note: Sometimes, after opening the Shortcut menu, the list of categories is
not shown. When this happens, press the Escape key, and start over, using VO +
D to place focus on the Dock, then VO + Shift + M to reopen the Shortcut menu.

3. You can also use Spotlight search, by pressing CMD + Spacebar, and typing
in the name of the System Preferences category you want to access.
Note: This may provide several search results, so you may need to down arrow
through the list to find what you are looking for.

HTH.

you will see all the preference panes like dock, desktop, users, security &

Re: Now how about accessible modems

2020-12-13 Thread 'Janina Sajka' via MacVisionaries
The trick to getting a modem on your own is to match your Internet
Service Provider's (ISP) protocols properly, eg. Xfinity/Comcast in my
area of the planet now requires Docsis 3.1.

Beyond that's there's not much to it:

1.) Plug the BX cable from your ISP into the modem;
2.) Plug a Cat 5/6/whatever cable into the modem and the WAN port of
your router;
3.) Plug in electrical power;
4.) Call/logon to your ISP and get them to recognize/allow your new
device, eg. they may be tracking mac addresses.

Best,

Janina

Re: Typing Arabic With Apple Magic Keyboard US English?

2020-12-13 Thread 'Andrew Lamanche' via MacVisionaries
Fazil,

Once you launch system preferences, vo+right arro past Apple ID & family
sharing to the last elements which is where all the panes are located. You
need to interact with this area first by pressing vo+shift+down arrow. Then
you will see all the preference panes like dock, desktop, users, security &
privacy, and many more. You can either vo+arrow keys to move through all the
available pains or you can start typing the first few letters of the pane you
want to land on it immediately. So if you start typing keyboard, you should
get there quickly. Once you land on the pane you want to open, you have to
press vo+spacebar to open it. Remember, some panes will require that you enter
your computer password to make changes so always check at the very right of the
pain whether you can see lock icon which means that you need to enter your
password. You won’t need it though for keyboard pane.

Hope this helps.
