Re: Web sites maxing resources in Safari.

2021-02-22 Thread Cara Quinn
Hi Jessica and All,

I just tried this site in Safari (with JavaScript enabled) on an M1 MacBook Air
(running Big Sur 11.2) and it came up immediately and seemed to work fine. I
did not explore the site but did quickly tab through some links and read a bit
of info etc. I wonder if my being a .1 version behind may have anything to do
with it? I’d be surprised but you never know. :)

Just to add something to this thread that hasn’t been mentioned so far;

“busy’ messages in apps may not actually be the app itself being unresponsive
or using excessive resources. Even though Voiceover may announce that the app
itself is busy, it may actually be Voiceover which is busy attempting to be
able to display information from the app.

Obviously, this is not always the case and it would definitely be nice to be
able to tell the difference easily with VO.

I bring this up because occasionally when VO says that an app is busy, it is
absolutely possible to interact with the app and its UI using the mouse.

Activity Monitor may be helpful in these cases to tell which process may
actually be using more resources.

Hope this might help diagnose the issue. So sorry the site / Safari / VO is
being a pain!

Cheers!

Cara

Not sure, but you don’t have to use it at all. I don’t. It’s on a separate page

Hi!
I think Vo has a buffer that buffers info which meeds to be frebuffered
sometimes.
Not sure though but its interesting that the M1 Mac can use the site with no
issue.
This is why I am about to get one.
They’re a bit steep though.

Patrick,

It isn’t there to stay. Once you are in the App library, go to the app switcher
and close out all open apps. That should bring you back to the screen where the
App library is, then on your phone do what ever command or gesture brings you
back to the Home Screen. You should then see the standard layout of the home
screen.

you put yourself into the App library.

Re: Web sites maxing resources in Safari.

2021-02-22 Thread 'Jason White' via MacVisionaries
I’ve read positive comments about the performance of the M1 machines, which is why I’m considering buying one (or a successor) later this year. My late 2013-model MacBook Pro is rather slow nowadays, due no doubt to the demands of a current operating system and applications. From: macvisionaries@googlegroups.com on behalf of Anders Holmberg Date: Monday, February 22, 2021 at 15:01To: 'Andrew Lamanche' via MacVisionaries Subject: Re: Web sites maxing resources in Safari.Hi!I think Vo has a buffer that buffers info which meeds to be frebuffered sometimes. Not sure though but its interesting that the M1 Mac can use the site with no issue. This is why I am about to get one. They’re a bit steep though./A22 feb. 2021 kl. 19:00 skrev Cara Quinn : Hi Jessica and All, I just tried this site in Safari (with _javascript_ enabled) on an M1 MacBook Air (running Big Sur 11.2) and it came up immediately and seemed to work fine. I did not explore the site but did quickly tab through some links and read a bit of info etc. I wonder if my being a .1 version behind may have anything to do with it? I’d be surprised but you never know. :) Just to add something to this thread that hasn’t been mentioned so far; “busy’ messages in apps may not actually be the app itself being unresponsive or using excessive resources. Even though Voiceover may announce that the app itself is busy, it may actually be Voiceover which is busy attempting to be able to display information from the app. Obviously, this is not always the case and it would definitely be nice to be able to tell the difference easily with VO. I bring this up because occasionally when VO says that an app is busy, it is absolutely possible to interact with the app and its UI using the mouse. Activity Monitor may be helpful in these cases to tell which process may actually be using more resources. Hope this might help diagnose the issue. So sorry the site / Safari / VO is being a pain! Cheers! Cara  On Feb 21, 2021, at 9:52 PM, Dave Carlson wrote: Have you considered using Microsoft Edge? Multi-Device Bluetooth Keyboard with Touch ID

2021-02-22 Thread Jeff Berwick
Hi All,

I’ve been Google searching, but I’m not getting a narrow list of keyboards to
review—perhaps what I’m looking for doesn’t exist.

I want a bluetooth keyboard that I can use with multiple devices, but that also
has a Touch ID or finger print sensor. I have the Logetec K760 which I love,
but I would like it to have a Touch ID sensor so I don’t have to go to my
computer.

Does such an animal exist? Does anybody have one and have any comments?

Thx,
Jeff

If yes, do we have a shortcut to reach Document folder like Command-Shift-H

If yes, what is that shortcut, please?

Thanks!

Re: Name Confusion?

2021-02-22 Thread Brad Snyder
The Dock is not a folder. The Dock is a row of application and/or folder alias
located, usually along the bottom edge of your Mac’s desktop.
The Documents folder is either a local or iCloud folder that can be accessed
using CMD + Shift + O.

What to do about a hot Mac when it is sleeping? Please read below

2021-02-22 Thread Maurice Mines
Hello everyone, here’s the issue that I am experiencing, there are several
issues. One whenever I put my MacBook Pro 2020, the Intel version. To sleep if
Bluetooth is still on the computer gets hot overtime and the battery drain if
it’s not plugged in it’s quite high for some unknown reason.

Issue number two is regarding the audio on the computer. One for some odd
reason the computer will not correctly identify a headphone plug-in to the 3.5
headphone jack. The other issue comes when I changed hearing aids to Bluetooth
hearing aids for some reason voiceover becomes occasionally quite choppy and I
wind up at times with pieces of words even syllables of words but no really
words that aren’t anywhere close to being pieces like I said this happens
occasionally. Sometimes exactly 5 minutes apart.

The other variant of this, is if I have more than one program open and/or more
than one window open. Then the speech becomes particularly choppy. New
paragraph finally I tried an experiment on a zoom call if I turn voiceover kids
oh then I get clear on interrupted audio from the sound card but this is only
win voiceover it’s not running.

Does anyone have any good ideas as to what could really be causing all of these
issues. For the record, I am running Mack OS 11.2.3. I hope this helps question
New paragraph disclaimer time. Please be aware that I am dictating this to my
phone. So some of it may not have turned out the way that it should have turned
out because of Siri this also means that there may be potentially inappropriate
words in here. Should this happen please reach out to me and let me know if
something really is off but the errors are not intended.

Disclaimer number two please be aware that my comments, statements, or
positions if any that I’ve taken, and or pronouncement that I have made if any,
that aren’t involved in the text above. Certainly do not reflect the views
positions policies and or the views of any board chapter or individual within
the national Federation of the blind nor does this mean anything as to the
board of the national Federation of the blind up line division which I do serve
on. The views aren’t strictly mine. I am the only one responsible for them I am
the only one that I have written them here. Thank you all very much for reading
this. I look forward to reading your suggestions and or comments

Why not turn off Bluetooth and plug in your computer when putting it to sleep?
