Re: VO with restore, erase and re -install

2021-03-06 Thread Jonathan C. Cohn
Hello,
The very first thing you want to do is rgout of iCloud. This is in system
settings.
You eisentially have two options.
1 back up your mac with carbon ccopy cloaner or another full copy backup
software. Then boot off the copy and run disk utility found in the utilitunes
folder. The disk utility has a list of drives and partitions and you select one
and then find the erase button.
2 Just start your mac in restore mode. You shutdown your mac and then start it
up while holding down the "r" key. This will not have voiceover on bt you
can easily start it with comand f5. then start di'sk utility from the tools or
utilities menu.

Once the disk is erased, restore mode can be used to instalb the original OS.

Or, you could just press CMD + Triple pressing the Power/TouchID button, to
directly turn on VoiceOver, and skip the Accessibility dialogue.

Re: starting on a new mac - help with the set up

2021-03-06 Thread Michael Babcock
And to add, if you hold command and triple tap the power button in top right
hand, this will toggle VoiceOver so you don’t have to use the accessibility
dialog.

Re: starting on a new mac - help with the set up

2021-03-06 Thread Jonathan C. Cohn
Hello,

This should be fairly simple. When you triple tap the power button after the
computer is on, an accessibility dialog comes up. This dialog is self speaking.
prestap once and it should say "voiceover" I believe pressing space then
activates voiceover it might be return though. then you can leave that dialog
and start configuring the system with VO.
Have fun with your new MAC.

starting on a new mac - help with the set up

2021-03-06 Thread Patrick Ford
Hi,
On setting up my mac book air 6 years ago, I don’t recall needing sighted help
with the opening set up. This is a new mac book air with the touch bar. So, is
it manageable with VO during the set up?
Thanks.

2021-03-06 Thread Patrick Ford
Hi,
On a Mac Book air with os Catalina, does VO remain active during the
restoration to factory settings and erase and re install of oS? I have to do
this to send back to apple, so wondering if I need sighted help.
Thanks.

Re: Alternative to Apple Keyboard

2021-03-06 Thread dan d.
I would look for used and refurbished mac sources; who likely have older
keyboards also. My local apple store says apple can supply one if
your current one is sent back to be refurbished.

Re: strange message when logging into Bookshare from my Mac

2021-03-06 Thread 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries
I don’t think that was the issue. When I followed Matt’s link, the site said my
password had been part of a data breech. So I changed it..

I figured that was probably the case, but it sure would be nice to have
better information. I would think if book share had been hacked, they
would’ve put some thing on their site or let people know somehow. The only
other option I can see that that leaves us that my Mac is compromised, and
if that’s the case probably all my passwords have been leakd. It would be
good to know what the actual situation is. LOL
