Re: Apple HomePod Discontinued: Apple to Focus on Smaller, HomePod Mini, USA Today

2021-03-15 Thread Mike Arrigo
I'm not sure how much the Home Pod mini sells for, I've heard the larger home
pod sounds really good, but it was more expensive than the echo or google home
series, and it sounds like you are confirming what the reviews have said, the
capabilities are lacking compared to the Echo and google home devices.

RE: Apple HomePod Discontinued: Apple to Focus on Smaller, HomePod Mini, USA Today

2021-03-15 Thread matthew dyer
Hi,

My only complante with apple is þ they don't have access to Sirius XM as least
not through the speaker. I have considered a google home for that or an amazon
speaker.

Thanks for the link you sent in another message, I will be responding. My
problem is that a lot of the stations I want our foreign language. And the
Amazon devices and the Google devices will play them. Siri won’t. Why not? And
even HomePod aside, Siri just sends me to the web far too often. Even on the
watch. That’s ridiculous. Apple bought the leading AI of its time and totally
lost it. I don’t want apple digging into my privacy matters. So I totally agree
with you there. But I don’t think you have to know all about me in order to
play a given radio station in a foreign country that exists on a service with
which Apple supposedly has connections. It’s just screwed up. This is one area
where Apple totally lost it. And it’s so sad. The homePod‘s are really nice
speakers in my opinion.

..and speaking personally?
This is one of those intersect issues.
The more people who share the send feedback idea everywhere, and I mean
everywhere, the twitter feeds of programs and artists you enjoy with our
homepod for example, the more likely Apple will pay attention.

Explain that to me please.
I never considered to buy one and I don’t see the reason to have one either.
There are tons of speakers out there and the HomePod has not even come to my
country yet.
I also doubt that It will will comeback no matter how much feedback you give.

Re: Searching For Particular Messages In Mail on Catalina

2021-03-15 Thread Brad Snyder
On my Mac mini, using Mac Mail, on Catalina,, I was able to search for mail
from an individual sender as follows:

1. I navigated to, and interacted with the ToolBar in the Mail app.
2. After interacting with the ToolBar, I pressed VO + Home, which landed me in
the Search text field.
3. Next, I typed in the first few letters of the sender’s name, then used the
down arrow to access a drop-down list of result categories, and selected the
most relevant result, and then pressed Enter.
4. I then used VO + J, to navigate to the Mailbox list, where the results of
my search are listed.

Note:
1. I am using Column Layout.
2. When finished, I returned to the Search edit box in the ToolBar, to clear
my search criteria.
3. I am using a full size keyboard, with extended keys. If using the smaller
MacBook keyboard, use FN + VO + RightArrow, to navigate to the Search edit
field, after interacting with the ToolBar.

Re: send feedback to Apple re HomePod

2021-03-15 Thread 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries
Well, this is probably subjective, then. Personally, I don't think the sound on
the mini can touch the sound on the HomePod. I agree that the smaller size is
nice, but I wouldn't sacrifice the sound of the bigger HomePod.
Cheers,
Donna

Re: send feedback to Apple re HomePod

2021-03-15 Thread Herbie Allen
Hi,
If you don’t mind me asking, why do you see this as a bad idea? I’m not so sure
I agree. Apple now has the HomePod mini which has more up-to-date hardware,
just as good of a sound, and better size. I have the big one and my wife has
the Mini, and honestly, I find the big one a bit to big. I could much more
easily fit two Mini’s on my desk for a stereo pair.

Re: send feedback to Apple re HomePod

2021-03-15 Thread Jürgen Fleger
Hi,
that sounds very negative to me. Apple proved several times their ability and
willingness to react on users feedback. I myself had once a chat with Apple
Irland about huge issues in Preview in Mac OS Lion. And what shall I say. They
found the issue and solved it in an update 3 months later. Even Tim Cook was
involved. That’s a thing only Apple can do. I’ve never experienced this in my
time as a Windows user.
So in my opinion it’s always worth a feedback.
All the best
Jürgen

Thanks for the link you sent in another message, I will be responding. My
problem is that a lot of the stations I want our foreign language. And the

And even HomePod aside, Siri just sends me to the web far too often. Even
on the watch. That’s ridiculous. Apple bought the leading AI of its time
and totally lost it. I don’t want apple digging into my privacy matters.
So I totally agree with you there. But I don’t think you have to know all

screwed up. This is one area where Apple totally lost it. And it’s so sad.
The homePod‘s are really nice speakers in my opinion.

Hi Donna,

oh good. Now I know I can use this saying. :-)

You can find the setting via the Home app. Open HomePod settings and scroll
down to Music & Podcast headline. Below you’ll find the setting. to adjust the
volume automatically. Should be the third setting.

All the best

Hi Jurgen,

We have the exact same expression in English, don’t bet on the wrong horse. So
your translation was perfect. :)

I haven’t noticed volume problems on the Mini, but I don’t use it to listen to
music nearly as often. I like having a music and Siri device in parts of the
house where I wouldn’t spend the money on good speakers, but that’s as far as
the mini goes, in my opinion.

Where is the setting to adjust volume automatically between songs? I didn’t
know that was there, and I’d definitely check it.
Cheers,
Donna

Anders,

First, your probably right, my feedback won’t change anything. But at least
it’s worth a try. See the earlier thread for why discontinuing the homepod is a
bad decision. That’s been addressed already.
Cheers,
Donna

Hi!
Why is that a bad decision?
Explain that to me please.
I never considered to buy one and I don’t see the reason to have one either.
There are tons of speakers out there and the HomePod has not even come to my
country yet.
I also doubt that It will will comeback no matter how much feedback you give.

Re: Apple HomePod Discontinued: Apple to Focus on Smaller, HomePod Mini, USA Today

2021-03-15 Thread Jürgen Fleger
Hi,
I totally agree with you both. It seems Apple continius a poorer device, still
good but poorer, which suffers from the same Siri issues like its bigger
brothers. Sounds worse but has the same issues. And even more of it as I
experience my HomePod Mini.
Additionally to the issues you mentioned I‘m not able to increase or decrease
Siris volume. Yes I can tell her to decrease volume but after one or two
requests the volume goes up automatically. I hear music very often on volume 1
in my bedroom on a Mini. Often the second song is played in an increased
volume. Even though I checked the option to adjust volume automatically between
songs.
So I love my original HomePods because of their great sound and I hope Apple
doesn‘t bets on the wrong horse. I don‘t know if I can translate this german
saying literally but you might know what I mean.
All the best
Jürgen
