Re: Is it still possible to call a phone number from messages in IOS 14?

2021-04-15 Thread Jonathan Cohn
Hello,
Looks like this wasn't answered for iPhone yet. At the top of the conversation
is a Name button. Where Name is the people you are talking with . Once VO is on
that double tab and there should be three buttons appear.
1. Audio
2. Facetime
3. Info

I have no idea if audio is FaceTime audio or phone call, but the "info" has
phone and also ways to share location.
HTH!

Best wishes,

Jonathan Cohn

Yep, that did work. Thank you so much all. I was looking in the wrong place
for the prompt. Once you said it was at the top of the screen, I found it
right away.

Oops, I’m thinking of the Mac. Yes, with iOS, you double tap on the name or
phone number at the top and select either audio or FaceTime.

Re: A big question how to get audio from a brand new mixing board to my MacBook Pro 20 2013 inch

2021-04-15 Thread Steve Matzura
That's exactly what the USB port on your board is for--connecting to a
computer. If you're lucky, which you probably will be, no device driver
will be required and Apple supports it as part of its core audio system.
Try it. If it works, it will appear in the list of audio devices in
System Preferences, and in your audio workstation (Reaper,  Audacity,
Pro Tools, Logic, etc.). One channel strip on your mixer will be
assigned to that audio interface--that is, you'll be able to play stuff
from the computer through the mixer and record stuff coming into the
mixer through that same interface into your aforementioned audio
workstation software.

Is there still a way to call a number of someone who sent you a message? If so,
how do you access that option?

Hi!
Do you have an external audio device?
Does the mixer board come with USB port?
If it does you can use that on the Mac.

Big Sur bootable SSD, was : FireWire SSD question

2021-04-15 Thread 'Robert Cole' via MacVisionaries
The USB 3 port is working great.
This SSD drive has made a big difference in my Mac.
Everything is much faster!
I used Carbon Copy Cloner to create a bootable Big Sur clone, then I had to
boot into recovery to choose Big Sur SSD as the startup drive.
Because as of now, Big Sur will not show the clone in the startup disk
selection even though it is bootable. Carbon Copy Cloner
Says that Apple is aware of the problem.
Then once I booted using the new SSD, I was able to select it as the startup
disk in system preferences.
So far all is well.
Thanks,
Rob

Your machine uses thunderbolt 2. There are thunderbolt3 to thunderbolt2
adaptors. The usb--c and thunderbolt3 ports are the same. I
predictt the thunderbolt line of connections will be merged into the usb line

Screen Curtain iPhone 7

2021-04-15 Thread michael dailey
Somehow I have turned on screen curtain on an iPhone 7. I have tried doing a 3
fingered quit 4 taps, but that does not seem to work. I have tried to get Siri
to turn it off but that doesn’t work either.

Any suggestions?

Re: A big question how to get audio from a brand new mixing board to my MacBook Pro 20 2013 inch

2021-04-15 Thread 'Janina Sajka' via MacVisionaries
Maurice:

I hope you picked a audio mixer with a class compliant USB interface. If
yes, you wire it up and set up your Mac software to use that connection.

If not, well that's another story, I'm sorry to say. Using a line input
is probably not what you want to do, though it would work. Your better
option, if your mixer isn't already equipped with a USB interface, is to
purchase an analog USB adaptor.

Good luck,

Janina

Re: FireWire SSD question

2021-04-15 Thread Jonathan Cohn
I o believe there are some converter cables available for switching between
FW800 and the newer Firewire that is merged into UCB-C. When the MacBook Pros
with the USB-C connectors first came out, Tidbits.com
published an extensive article on this subject. I expect other tech publishers
h also have guides.
Best wishes,

Jonathan Cohn

Re: Trying to install windows on bootCamp

2021-04-15 Thread Jonathan Cohn
I have never run Bootcamp partitions, but I believe you must first install the
bootcamp drivers on the Windows system before sound can work.
HTH!

Best wishes,

Jonathan Cohn
