Re: iOS 15 Books Navigation Problems

2021-10-16 Thread 'Sabahattin Gucukoglu' via MacVisionaries
Thanks for the suggestion but, alas, it didn't work at all. In fact, curiously,
the problems occurred in exactly the same places, accounting for font size.
It's very, very bizarre.

Cheers,
Sabahattin

The items are not labeled, and VoiceOver does not speak what these items are.

Re: Difference Between cmd-f & VO-F?

2021-10-16 Thread Jonathan Cohn
Hello,
VO-F is using VoiceOver and command F is using the standard text functions.

I believe that by default the VO find treats case as different while the text
search does not. Also, the text search will select text but the VoiceOver
cursor might not go to it. Also note in certain circumstances (tables of
messages in mail for example) one can just start typing and get to what one is
looking for.

Best wishes,

Jonathan Cohn

Also, that’s an awful lot of swiping to the right. The whole point of being
able to message from your watch is that it be quick, convenient, and easy. By
the time I do all that I might as well just get my phone out and message from
my phone.

2021-10-16 Thread 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries
Hey, Brad,

I have no idea how you figured that out. Once I press the dictate button,
VoiceOver completely goes silent. So I had no knowledge that I was expected to
swipe all the way to the right and then tap again. I don’t even know what the
button is that’s all the way to the right. Maybe it’s not a disaster, but I
definitely think Apple could’ve done a better job of making this version of
messages on the watch accessible.

Re: Anyone else having trouble dictating messages on their watch since WatchOs 8?

2021-10-16 Thread Brad Snyder
I do not find that the messaging app is a disaster at all. It has just changed.
You must first navigate to the message edit field, and do a one finger double
tap to activate it. Once activated, then swipe to the dictation button and
dictate as in the past. Once finished dictating, you should swipe right until
you cannot swipe right anymore, then do a one finger double tap to complete the
dictation process. you will then find your dictated message in the message edit
field, where you can edit the dictated message or add emojis to it if you wish.
once you have finished and are ready to send your message, swipe less to the
send button, then double tap to send your message.
That's it.

HTH.

Re: Smart mailboxes.

2021-10-16 Thread Jonathan Cohn
I went into Googles IMAP server settings and changed my preferences on
deletions/expunging.
This might help, though i remember when I initially made changes here, it was
because I accidentally deleted something and had no way to restore it. I'll see
if the recently deleted items ends up in Google's bin or if it disappears
completely.
Jonathan

Best wishes,

Jonathan Cohn

Re: Anyone else having trouble dictating messages on their watch since WatchOs 8?

2021-10-16 Thread 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries
Huh! This is something Apple needs to fix. I don’t really like tapping on
things when I don’t know what I’m tapping on. Also, I really don’t want my
messages sent until I’m ready to send them. I think I will write to Apple
Accessibility about this. But I appreciate the explanation of how you do this,
and I’ll give it a try. And, I do agree, it’s nice to be able to add emogis.
Cheers,
Donna

Re: Anyone else having trouble dictating messages on their watch since WatchOs 8?

2021-10-16 Thread Jeff Berwick
It is true that it is much less convenient to dictate under Watch OS8.

What I do, once I am done dictating, is one finger double tap, swipe once to
the right and one finger double tap again. Not sure what I’m tapping on, but
that stops dictation and then I can swipe left until I get back to the text
field so I can review what I have dictated.

Sometimes, when I one finger double tap, the message just sends automatically.
Not sure why as VoiceOver is pretty quiet at that time.

The nice thing about this annoyance is that you can then add emogees to your
message, if desired.

Hth,
Jeff

Anyone else having trouble dictating messages on their watch since WatchOs 8?

2021-10-16 Thread 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries
Hi all,

Ever since upgrading to WatchOS 8, I am unable to dictate messages. I can get
dictation to start, but I can rarely get it to stop, and I can’t get VO to read
back to me what I have dictated, so I can make sure it’s right before sending
the message. Anyone have any idea what might be going on? I use the watch for
messaging a lot, so this is a major inconvenience.
Cheers,
Donna
