Re: How to change Voiceover voice on Apple Watch

2022-01-14 Thread 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries
Hi Tim,

OK, so I’ve added a second language. But I still don’t see any way to select a
different voice. I did this before, so I know it’s possible, I just can’t
figure out how to do it again.
Cheers,
Donna

Re: VO-X Command?

Try using the arrow keys. I believe it will tell you the location of the top
left corner of the window you are moving. You can also use the window resize
options 'which is the shifted accent key with 'the VO modifier

About VO-Accent, it says moving windows and I don’t know what it means. Can a
blind person use this command?

Thanks!

Nothing, unless you have set up activities.

Next Question: What are activities?

They are a way to customize how VO behaves. You can either link them to an app
or a web page, or can activate them with the VO-X command.

Re: How to change Voiceover voice on Apple Watch

2022-01-14 Thread 'Tim Kilburn' via MacVisionaries
Hi,

Go into Settings, Accessibility, VoiceOver, Rotor Languages and Add a language.
. Once you’ve added the language, the language option will be in the rotor and
you can swipe up/down when the rotor is on Language to change the voice. If
someone else has more granular voice options, I’d like to know. I’ve been
playing a little and got this far, but haven’t figured out if I can choose
between voices within the added language.

Later…

Re: Is There Any Way ...

2022-01-14 Thread Jonathan Cohn
If you search AppleScript mail signature you should get some results. I'm not
sure if these will still work in a modern MacOS, as it is more secure.
I would expect that keyboard maestro or text expander might also have mail
signature functionality.
.

Re: passwords

2022-01-14 Thread 'Tim Kilburn' via MacVisionaries
Hi,

In Big Sur and Monterey, after you’ve selected the web-site with he password
you just saved, stop interacting with the table, VO-right to the Scroll area
and interact with it. Locate the Edit button and VO-space on it. The username
and password will be there. You can tab between the two fields and copy/paste
the password to another location if you desire. Depending on where you save
this password, it may be more secure to leave it where it is and follow this
process to read it if needed.

I'm trying to read a password for an account I created. I let Safari create a
strong password but I'd like to write it down someplace and I can't read it

couldn't actually read the password although I did find the account. how is
this done with Vo assuming it can be?

Nothing, unless you have set up activities.

Next Question: What are activities?

They are a way to customize how VO behaves. You can either link them to an app

Go into System Prefs, Keyboard, under the Dictation tab. I believe though that

Hello, yes space with I should bring up the item chooser. I do find it a bit
more tricky than with voice though. I believe last time I used it focus went to
the input field, but input did not seem to work.
I believe there is also a braille shortcut for find but I have never used it.

Re: A couple of question after getting a new Mac Air

2022-01-14 Thread 'Tim Kilburn' via MacVisionaries
Hi,

Technically, Brad is correct of course. Also, technically, Christine did not
specifically want to work in Word, or .DOCX format, but wanted to be able to
Save/Export to a .DOCX format. TextEdit and Pages will do both. Now, each of
those will open the Word/.DOCX formatted document within their own respective
word processor, and you, as Brad aptly said, will be working in either TextEdit
or Pages, not Word. Again, you’ll work in TextEdit/Pages and have to export to
Word format when you want to share it with another who only has access to Word.
Essentially, the only way you can work in Word format, is to actually do
exactly that, work in Word.

For Pages and Word, you can work both on-line or off-line. Word however, is a
subscription based model unless you are a student or faculty of an educational
institution

So, with all this in mind, considering the parameters you outlined in your
original post, Pages is your best bet if you prefer free, but Othe Office 365
family edition might work for you as well if you do not wish the need to export
to Word whenever you wish to share the document with a non-Pages user.

Re: VO-X Command?

To know what any key commands do, vo+k goes into keyboard help. When hitting a
key or combination it will announce what it does. Press
escape to leave help.
