Herbie,

This is a Monterey OS, so there is no iTunes. Only the Book app.

Sorry, but I neglected to save the information. Someone (likely Tim) gave the
folder and path to where audio books are stored on a Monterey OS. I need to
clean out files, and wanted to just delete them directly.

Any help?

ok. well, so far I've gotten the same result whether I use home or fn. fn is
somewhat easier because of its position on the keyboard.

somebody using a macbook air suggested I use vo-shift-home to get to the
top of the screen. when I did this on my Mac mini, vo said: "close". I'm
using a generic keyboard. is it different keys in that case?

Re: keyboard command to get to top of screen

2022-03-19 Thread Lorie McCloud
I get my fingers all tangled up in these key combos sometimes. I pressed
vo-shift-home also tried fn instead of home. it took. me to thetop of the
window. on my screen it says the name of the video. I wonder how it is that you
find "main" and I don't. could we have Safari set differently on our respective
Macs? there's just no "main" anywhere on my screen. once in awhile I can get
one to start playing if I press vo-space at just the right time as it's loading
but it's not an exact science. I'd love to be able to find "main" on my screen.

Yes, and "go to beginning" is useful in the terminal application, too.

Re: Using MS Office on the Mac

2022-03-19 Thread 'Jason White' via MacVisionaries
Starting with the keyboard shortcuts for the applications you’re using should
help. Also, Microsoft has published Web pages on using each application with a
screen reader. If I recall correctly, these include instructions for the Mac.
You could also consider using the item chooser menu in VoiceOver to jump to
desired controls efficiently. In addition, if you don’t already know how to use
Mac OS menus quickly with a keyboard, then add this knowledge to your
repertoire. Basically, you can start typing the name of a menu option (after
using VO-M to access the menus), and focus will move to the first option that
starts with the letters you type. Press Return/Enter to select; and do the same
for any sub-menus. Note that the menus in Microsoft Office applications are
extensive, and they duplicate what is in the ribbons. Using the menus is
probably faster if you know what you want to find.
The only Microsoft Office application that I use frequently is Microsoft
Outlook, as one of my e-mail accounts absolutely requires it. Using Tab and
Shift-Tab for navigation in Outlook often works better than using VoiceOver
commands.

Hi,

are there any manuals or recommendable web sides how to use MS Office on the
Mac efficiently with VoiceOver? At the moment I’m simply using the normal VO
standard navigation commands like VO + j and VO + Arrow keys in conjunction
with interaction into the elements. Seems to be a bit uncomfortable.

Maybe it’s uncomfortable to use MS Office on the Mac but maybe someone knows
ways or resources to use it more efficiently.

Thanks and all the best
