Re: Redirecting Just VoiceOver Audio From Apple TV

2023-04-21 Thread Kelly Ford
Hi All,

I appreciate the thoughtful replies here. If I wasn't clear, the connection
from my Apple TV to my television itself works fine. In fact when the audio
quits working on the sound bar, I turn up the TV speaker and then I can hear
the audio as I navigate Apple TV just fine. I’m just tired of having to do this.

I’m fairly certain the issue is something about the digital optical signal and
or connection between the TV and the sound bar. I’ve tried multiple items to
resolve this and the issue itself isn’t unique to Apple TV. I’ve had Roku and
FireTV in the mix as well with the same challenge.

At this point I’m just going to explore routing the VoiceOver audio itself if
as people say, that’s possible.

If media is playing on the Apple TV, the entire system works fine. So I’m
guessing something in the mix is cutting off the signal, again either in the
sound bar or the optical out. I may continue to try and debug that but want to
solve this immediate problem.

I’m guessing it is the sound bar in some fashion because I have pretty much the
identical TV and Apple TV in a second location connected to a different full
audio tuner for my surround sound environment and don’t have this problem.

I appreciate the thoughtful replies.

RE: Redirecting Just VoiceOver Audio From Apple TV

2023-04-21 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Kelly,

You ask an interesting question. The short answer is, "yes," you can direct
VoiceOver audio to a different sound destination; however, I don't think that
is the problem, in your situation.

I am going to provide the broad strokes as to how you might begin to resolve
your current issue. Keep in mind that I am writing in extremely general terms.

1.
Your Apple TV should be connected to your Samsung TV via an HDMI cable. In the
best-case scenario, Apple TV should be connected to the Samsung via an HDMI
(ARC) cable (to an HDMI ARC port) but it is not necessary. A standard HDMI
connection is just fine. In the simplest HDMI connection, you should be able
to hear VoiceOver through the built-in speaker on your Samsung TV as you would
hear it in iOS and on the Mac. Be certain that this is working before you
attempt to connect a sound bar to the Samsung Tv.

2.
Assuming that the above scenario is working as expected, you may now connect a
sound bar. The type of connection you will use to connect the Samsung TV to
the sound bar will greatly depend upon (1) the type of audio ports that are
available on the Samsung TV and (2) the type of audio ports that are available
on the sound bar. Obviously, I cannot describe all of the possibilities that
may or may not be available to you but I can tell you that one of the simplest
solutions would be to connect the Samsung TV to the sound bar via an optical
digital audio cable. In many instances, such a solution would allow you to
hear audio from both the Samsung TV built-in speaker and the sound bar,
simultaneously with the ability to adjust the volume of each, independently.

Ultimately, you will have to study the instruction manual for both your Samsung
TV and sound bar for the best results but the scenario in number 2, listed
above, is definitely a good place to begin.

I hope this helps and happy listening.

Mark

2023-04-21 Thread Jonathan Cohn
I am having a similar problem. For me, I get no audio on Apple-plus and
Disney-Plus programming since moving to my new home.
I also use an Apple TV 4K with a TLC 4k TV hooked up to a sound bar using
HDMI-R to connect the sound bar to the TV.

Best wishes,

Re: Notification times out before I can take an a hi, ction

2023-04-21 Thread Lorie McCloud
I also have trouble with this. sometimes we have to try 2 or 3 times before we
can get it to work. I don’t have a solution but I do have the same problem.

Notification times out before I can take an a hi, ction

2023-04-21 Thread Marlene Kramer
Hi,
On the several occasions I have attempted to obtain help from Apple
Accessibility in the past several months, the screen share has failed because
the notification times out before I can take the necessary actions.
Is there any way to solve this problem?
Thanks. Marlene.

Re: Hide Apps in Mac App Store

2023-04-21 Thread 'E.T.' via MacVisionaries

Cathy,
Thanks for the feedback. Apple is now aware of the bug so I expect
it will be addressed someday.

Hi.

I’m not sure if this will help. I have no one sighted to ask.
When looking at the App Store on the Mac, I simply cannot find this
button or anything like it - no options at all, except to open or
redownload a specific app. I tried interacting, but got the same
results. I am unable to say whether this was the same in a previous OS,
because it is not something I have looked for. I’m running the latest
MacOS version.

Take care,
Candie

Let me explain what I am talking about. Apple provides a way to
"hide"apps on Mac and iPhone. When one uninstalls an app that one
purchased from either app store, one can choose to remove them from
the lists of apps.

This is easy to do on the iPhone/iPad. The ability to do this on
the Mac IS available, just not accessible with Voiceover. Grab a
sighted person to confirm this.

Hope this helps.

That is not what I am looking for. If you uninstall an app, you
can hide it. This done bu going into Purchased and navigating to
the More button. Clicking it brings up a menu which has a Hide option.

Hello all,
I would like someone who is running Ventura to go into the Mac
App Store, and in the Purchased section of your account, and see
if any of your apps has a More button that Voiceover announces.
It should be next to the re-download button. Thanks, its
appreciated.
