New Kindle App For Mac

2023-09-30 Thread Kelly Ford
Hi,

I don’t know what sort of results others had trying to read Kindle books on a
Mac but for me it never worked. Earlier this month Amazon replaced the Mac
Kindle app with a new one that can be downloaded from
https://www.amazon.com/gp/f.html?C=2NDKK4Z370WL0=OENZWTSEAM6Y=urn:rtn:msg:20230928201021b6d8bf2029864addbf5336a46160p0na=3QSXJRRSLV94F=C=https%3A%2F%2Fapps.apple.com%2Fus%2Fapp%2Famazon-kindle%2Fid302584613=644ZGOXXVAQQLVDV9HYCDHXJGOYA.

This version seems to work with VoiceOver a lot like the iOS version does. So
far continuous reading seems to stop at the end of each page and you have to
use a next page command in the app to get more content. Maybe there’s an option
I’m not finding to change this.

Re: Gmail on my Mac

2023-09-30 Thread Brad Snyder
You need to access your account settings online, and enable IMAP, in order to
use a mail client.
You will find this in the section labeled IMAP, POP and Forwarding.

Try going into the Control Center, where you will be able to toggle DND on/off,
as well as other options for using DND.

I have trouble with it too. it goes back and starts reading older messages
instead of staying where I put it in terms of current exchanges.

Hi,
Is this your first time of connecting gMail to a mail client?
If so,
You may need to enable iMap or mail forwarding in the gMail settings on the
website.

RE: Creating keyboard shortcuts for iPad apps on Apple Silicon

2023-09-30 Thread 'Jason J.G. White' via MacVisionaries
Sorry - I forgot to add: if there's a menu entry for the control that you want,
then you should be able to create a keyboard shortcut for it in the MacOS
keyboard settings. I haven't used this feature, but apparently you need to
enter the text of the menu entry exactly, including capitalization, to define
the shortcut.
Obviously, this only works if the app's developers have created menu entries
for the functionality that you want to use. I'm referring to the MacOS menus
accessed with VO-M.

I'm not aware of any option to define new keyboard shortcuts - perhaps
AppleScript would help, but I haven't investigated it.
You may find that the Item Chooser menu helps in navigating to desired controls
quickly, as you can partially type the name of what you're looking for to move
to it directly.
I hope this helps. I know it isn't the perfect solution.

Hi,

Hope my mail finds you well,

I wonder whether there is any method to add keyboard shortcuts to iPad apps
installed on Apple Silicon MacBook.

If there is not, what tips od you have to improve my performance while using
these apps?

Example application is ClaroPDF app that reads PDF content.

Thank you so much

RE: Using the new macOS Sonoma

Presumably, if caps lock is configured as the VO modifier, holding it should
never change the state of the caps lock function, and should never warn about
it.

One weird thing, whenever I hold down the cap lock key on my keyboard it keeps
telling me to turn off the cap lock key. Does anybody have any idea how I can
make it stop doing that?

Probably not. My wife has a 2016 model and it is stuck at Catalina.

Your 2017 is at Ventura, and if Sonoma is available, it will show up in system

Annoying Verbosity in Mail App on Sonoma

2023-09-30 Thread Dave Carlson
I’ve noticed that the list level in the mailbox column is now announced when
moving in/out of the column.

For example, VO+right arrow to the mailbox column will announce inbox 3 of 45.
It’s the “3 of 45” that did not announce in Ventura.

I’ve gone through the Voiceover setting under verbosity and set several items
to low verbosity but nothing has changed.

Any tips?
