guess I’m not telling it the right thing. I installed google drive on the
computer and the alias is there but it shows that all my files are up to date
and there’s not a thing in mydrive on my commputer. how do I get them to sync
up?

thanks.

2023-11-17 Thread Ronald van Rhijn
Hi Lorie,

If you are talking about theMac, I couldn’t find it either. Under settings in
Safari and Extensions it wasn’t there.
This is the way I managed to turn it on.
1. go to the App Store on your Mac
2. click on the name of your account at the most right side..
3. then interact with the details collection
4. here you see your purchases with Vinegar comes first
5. click it to open
6. click on the next screen open again
7. and on the next screen click Quit and Open Safari Extensions Preferences…
button
8. the Safari settings for extensions opens and Vinegar is in the table where
you can enable it

Note: I am doing this on MacOS 11.7.8.

Re: Parallels desktop for Mac frustrations.

2023-11-17 Thread Ronald van Rhijn
Hi

I recently had my own difficulties with Parallels.
A few weeks ago I bought a brand new MacBook Pro 16 with M2 Pro, 32gb ram and
1tb ssd for using it with Parallels Pro 19 running Windows 11 and ArM Jaws 2023.
First of all Parallels isn’t very accessible with Voice Over (which I knew
before purchasing), but did it anyway. When all was installed and running I
shouldn’t have to worry about Parallels’ inaccessibility. Which was mostly
true. My problem with Parallels was certain keyboard keys like control and
option were giving me headaches. More than often when pressing one of these
(sometimes in combination with other keys) the focus switched to MacOS or no
focus at all. Where there wasn’t any speech either. This was true for windowd
and full screen.
We coulnd’t get this fixed in parallels settings unfortunately. For text
editing these keyboard keys are essential in Windows. Other issue was JAWS was
a tad sluggish. Perhaps the ARM version of Jaws is’nt optimal yet. The MacBook
should have been powerful enough to run everything smoothly.
I couldn’t live with it. So I returned the MacBook to Apple and got my full
money back from Parallels too.
Parallels webpage to ask for a refund I couldn’t do myself, cause the captcha
didn’t have an audio challenge.
I haven’t tried VM Fusion myself, but from what I read everywhere Parallels is
the best Apple Silicon virtual machine software. NOt for me though.
I am going to buy a much cheaper Mac and a Windows pc to use next to each
other.

Ronald

Headphones on iPhone 15 Pro

2023-11-17 Thread Paul Hopewell
Hello,
I am running IOS 7.1.1 on my iPhone 15 Pro. As I rely on VoiceOver there is a
lot of audio. I listen to this using headphones via a USBC to 3.5 mm jack
adapter.
Sometimes the audio comes from the iPhone speaker rather than from the
headphones which disturbs my wife especially when I wake up in the morning. I
then have to enter my phone authentication passcode to get the audio to go to
the headphones.
Is there anything I can do to force audio to go to the headphones whenever they
are plugged in in all circumstances? Any phone settings?
Many thanks for any tips … Paul Hopewell

Re: VoiceOver and Text Editing with Mac OS 14 Betas

2023-11-17 Thread Jonathan Cohn
Hi Kelly,
Historically this list refrains from talking about beta There is a group
on groups.io that does discuss VoiceOver and beta issues, I believe it is
called public beta users.
I personally have not been able to run a beta on a Macintosh for two years
as my hardware is too old right now.
I'd be interested in hearing more about editing issues, since Mac have
been using a text edit control inherited from Next OS that allows one to
create a personallized set of key commands, and this framework seems to be
less supported recently.
Best Wishes,
Jonathan Cohn software.

VoiceOver and Text Editing with Mac OS 14 Betas

2023-11-17 Thread Kelly Ford
Hello,

Is anyone else running the beta builds of Mac OS 14 and finding issues when
editing text? For example, I open some text files in TextEdit and use the
arrow keys to try and read/edit. VoiceOver isn’t reading anything.

This also happens when I use the Feedback app to submit a bug report to Apple.
I can press VO+a to read the full text field but moving by word, character and
line with arrows and such is not working.

Text input and editing is working correctly in the Mail app.
