Sharing Media Library

2023-12-26 Thread 'E.T.' via MacVisionaries

Hi all,
When I receive a new SSD external drive, I will move my media to it.

What I am curious about is, can I share this between two Macs?
Actually, two versions on one Mac. Thanks.

Re: Bug in Numbers

2023-12-26 Thread Phil Halton
Yes, I’ve been experiencing exactly this for a while now in numbers. My workaround has been too stop interacting with the table and re-interact, doing this several times until I can interact and move the cursor down. Usually when I try to interact with certain tables I get that bong sound when I try to arrow down then Stop interacting re-interact and or down will sometimes then work. I’ve never been completely blocked out of a table but sometimes I have to go through this little dance with numbers to interact and stop interacting once or twice before the arrow keys will move me into the table. I hope that makes sense.  Give it a try, if you can’t interact then stop interacting and then try again until you’re in. I have no idea what causes it. Sent from my IPhoneOn Dec 26, 2023, at 5:15 PM, Jonathan Cohn wrote:I believe numbers is not as fluid about moving between the Grid and the formula editing box. I’m not sure if that’s it. No amount of jumping, hitting escape, hitting tab,

Re: Uber app kills Voice Over on my iPhone

2023-12-26 Thread Jonathan Cohn
I had an equivalent problem with the Transit app. After scrolling through
4/5 busstops, VoiceOver would completely stop for that app. Killing the app
I would then get VoiceOver to speak again.
I will try deleteing the app and reinstalling.

Re: Adding Widgets on Mac OS

2023-12-26 Thread Michael Babcock
Hi Joseph and all!

Find "Using widgets from iOS 17 on macOS 14’s desktop”, this was the episode I
was thinking of:

https://unmute.show/2023/10/01/using-widgets-from-ios-17-on-macos-14s-desktop/

VO+O to open notification center
Locate edit widgets button
Locate the widget
Interact with the preview, find the size you want
Use actions menu on the size you want, and choose Drag to desktop.
You can also press vo+Space on this widget to add to the desktop.
It looks like it’s easy to add both Mac and IOS widgets to the desktop, however
I also am not seeing how to move those widgets or add new ones to the
Notification Center.
It does say "Drag a widget to place it on the desktop or Notification Center…”
but doesn’t make it clear how to drag or add to the Notification Center.
I did try VO+ < and VO + . As well as vo+command+shift+space
To drag and then toggle the notification center and attempt to drop in the
widgets there, and that didn't work either.

Re: VMware Fusion/Player

2023-12-26 Thread 'Sabahattin Gucukoglu' via MacVisionaries
I can’t find a source for the news that Broadcom fired accessibility team
employees from VMware, although of course they did fire many employees,
generally.

Anyway, I was rather annoyed to find that my Christmas wouldn’t go to plan
because of the latest issues with Sonoma and Fusion. Something of a blow to we
blind Mac-using folk, I think, and not one with a very good workaround. Keep
piling on the pressure, as usual. Apple, in fact, rather than VMware, seem to
be the culprit here, because of changes Apple made in AppKit, which breaks
Fusion due to a safety check imposed on setuid binaries. They’re working on it
though, apparently.

Cheers,
Sabahattin

Switching Between Devices On Logitech Bluetooth Keyboard

2023-12-26 Thread pdevasto0219
Hi everyone,

I picked up a Logitech K585 Bluetooth keyboard that I was hoping would help
me switch between my PC, Mac and iPhone. I'm not seeing any difficulty
getting the devices connected, but I can't for the life of me figure out how
to use those "Easy-Switch" buttons to move between the devices. If anyone
has this or a similar keyboard, could you tell me how I would switch among
devices? The manual talks about Easy Switch Channel 1 and Channel 2, but I'm
a bit confused.

Thanks for any help,

Pete De Vasto

Wow,

I hadn't heard they fired all the accessibility staff. That is truly
unfortunate. There was a great deal of progress on making the clients
themselves accessible, obviously far more than Parallels in my opinion.

Very interesting. Thanks for sharing that you're also unable to get the free
license.

It turns out a lot of people have had issues with that, totally aside from any
accessibility. I've wasted a lot of time trying to debug that.

Furthermore, I'm concerned that VMware's new owners aren't going to pay much
attention to accessibility given as how they just fired all the accessibility
people from VMware. Way to go Broadcom! You're clearly not in tune with how to
sell in the U.S. and the E.U.

So, anyone want to make a wager on how long it will take them to learn and mend
their ways?

2023-12-26 Thread 'Janina Sajka' via MacVisionaries
Very interesting. Thanks for sharing that you're also unable to get the
free license.

It turns out a lot of people have had issues with that, totally aside
from any accessibility. I've wasted a lot of time trying to debug that.

Furthermore, I'm concerned that VMware's new owners aren't going to pay
much attention to accessibility given as how they just fired all the
accessibility people from VMware. Way to go Broadcom! You're clearly not
in tune with how to sell in the U.S. and the E.U.

So, anyone want to make a wager on how long it will take them to learn
and mend their ways?

Argh!

Re: Will Vm Ware run on a M2 Mac?

2023-12-26 Thread 'Janina Sajka' via MacVisionaries
VMware Fusion 13 (or higher) is what you need for your M2. Older VMware will
not work.

NOTE: To answer your earlier email about importing a Parellels VM into
VMware ... I wouldn't even expect that to work. Parallels has its own
way of creating and specifying virtual machines. And VMware has its way
of doing that. The two are not the same. Don't be fooled by the fact
that both platforms use the same name: "Virtual Machine." There's not a
definition of virtual machine that both companies must adhere to. They
each get to do their virtual machines as they see fit and there's no
requirement that these are interchangeable.

Re: Uber app kills Voice Over on my iPhone

2023-12-26 Thread 'Janina Sajka' via MacVisionaries
For the record the problem has resolved itself sometime over the past 48
hours. I hate problems that resolve themselves because one never learns
anything from such situations. :)

On the other hand, this was a serious showstopper when it was a problem.
It made my iPhone useless while the problem was manifesting. I'm so glad
I have a fallback Android phone which usefully mirrors the Uber data in
realtime in the Android Uber app.
