Have you tried toing a clean install of Lion? I've heard about people having

Not sure if this will help you use Adium with VO, but here's a link to the

Re: making adium not continuously bringing up a window

2011-11-11 Thread Chad King
Hi Matt.
I had this happen as well.
Go to Adium preferences.
Under the Events tab, navigate to the events table.
Expand the section that says, Contact signs on.
If you see something that says, Display Growl notification, press the delete
key and it should delete that preference.
Do the same under the section that says, Contact signs off.
I had to delete that preference under the Message Received section as well.
Hope this helps.

Re: Search in Apple Mail

2011-11-11 Thread Chad King
Hi David.
I'm assuming you are viewing messages in the messages table. I usually just
press enter when I get to the message I want and Voiceover reads the full
message to me.
Of course there's also interacting with the message content table, then
pressing down arrow once, and Voiceover should read the message.
If there is more than one message in a thread, its much the same way. The
latest message will come first then you down arrow through each previous
message in the thread.

Re: Strange behavior in Finder and VoiceOver

2011-11-14 Thread Chad King
hi.
Do you have automatic login enabled?
You may need to go to system preferences, then users and groups, then interact
with, "users, accounts, and login options."
Navigate down to where it says, "login options group."
Stop interacting with users, accounts and login options."
right arrow over, and you'll see your log in options.
You should see a check box that says, "use voiceover in the login window."
If that is unchecked, and you want voiceover to start at the login window,
check that box.
If automatic login is enabled, when you first log in, press command f5, to turn
on Voiceover.
The next time you log in, voiceover *should* come up automatically.

Hi.
Select the file you wish to open.
Press the key combination, VO shift m.
Right arrow on the, "Open with" sub menu.
Select the, 'other' option.
You will see a window that is presented like an open file window.
Near the bottom of that window, you should see a "file table, that lists the

Interact with the file table.
In the file table, select the program you want to open the file.
Stop Interacting with the file table.
Right arrow to the, "always open with check box and check it.
Right arrow to the open button.
Press enter, and You should be good to go.
Hopefully that works.

Re: Apple's AssistiveTouch Helps the Disabled Use a Smartphone - NYTimes.com

2011-11-15 Thread Chad King
I've played with it a little. Seems that I had trouble opening some apps when
it was enabled.
I would double tap on the app, but the app didn't open for some reason. I'll
have to play with it a bit more.

Hi.
I have written them on several occasions. And they have always given me pretty
much the same reply, saying that they have forwarded it to the proper people.
So just because they don't reply, doesn't mean that aren't working on it.
How many of you have ever considered joining the Apple developer program, to
test accessibility while things are still in beta?
Apple needs more people like us to test accessibility.

Re: Mac feel natural

2011-11-23 Thread Chad King
hi
When I first bought my mac a couple of years ago, I remember using both
Operating systems for a while. Untill my Windows PC crashed. Then I didn't have
much of a choice. LOL!
It's ok to use both. If you enjoy the experience, you probably will most likely
keep coming back to it. Take your time. Have fun with it!
And tell others about your experience.

Traci,
Indeed! It is an amazing experience. I'll put it this way. Use windows. But
only if you *have* to.
That's what I meant by its ok to use both. Because there were a couple of times
where i just, 'didn't quite get it."
Of course, i was also running Mac OS X Leopard at the time. Much has improved

Re: Mac feel natural

2011-11-23 Thread Chad King
I know right?
I switched back in 2009.
December 1 2011 will mark 2 years that I've been using the Mac.
Pretty awesome stuff I'd say. LOL only a few people know the story of how I
actually became a Mac user.
Its funny, and a bit in sane. Hahaha!

Yes. that is correct.
I use quick nav because I don't want to do any more work than I have to. LOL!

Re: my third year with the Mac

2011-11-23 Thread Chad King
Hi Ray.
December 1 2011 will mark 2 years for me.
I take this personally because, to be honest, an Apple store opened up here in
my state earlier this year. And I feel that I need to apply for a job as an
Apple Specialist there.
I'm looking to help people. It is my passion. I eat sleep and breathe it.
It doesn't mean I know all the answers, or even half of them. But I'm learning.
