Time Capsule Software Compatibility

2010-07-30 Thread Debra Turner
Hi All,

I have a MacBook Pro and a couple of Pcs one running Windows 7 and the other
system running Vista.

How well does the software that comes with time capsule work with Voiceover
for the mac and Pcs with Jaws? Could I backup my Pcs to the system?

Reinstalling Snow Leopard

2010-03-28 Thread Debra Turner
Hi.

I think as a beginner I have gotten snow leopard's settings out of whack. My
track pad gestures do not work well anymore and I am unable to get into the
menu to determine the battery level and time. Is there a way to reinstall
Snow Leopard without overwriting files such as my Vmware image and Itunes
library?

Windows 7 Image

2009-11-28 Thread Debra Turner
Hi All,

I wish to copy my Windows 7 virtual file that I have under Fusion 3.0 to
another hard drive.Where does Fusion store this file?

After looking through lots of files and folders, I haven't found it. Could
the file be hidden?

RE: Installing Windows 7 With VmWare

2009-10-31 Thread Debra Turner
Have you installed any version of Windows under Fusion 3? Wonder if I could
install Windows 7 under Fusion 2.0?

I'll go pick up my MacBook Monday.

Hi,

It's really easy to install. Simply launch a new virtual machine window,
select easy install, point to the disk image or CDR and you're good to go.
It'll automate it, and it works really well. I've done it with both 32 and
64-bit versions and it's been flawless. Of course, Narrator seems to die on
me after a couple of keystrokes, but I managed to do it without Narrator
when I had to get JAWS back online.

In the vm fusion / windows 7 setup. Press the

 Or at least it should.

RE: slight accessibility issue with fusion 3

2009-10-31 Thread Debra Turner

Hi John and List,

I think this is some of my problem. After the Dvd drive became inactive when
trying to install Windows 7, "windows running" as well as shutdown and
restart was in the virtual machine menu. How do I highlight the virtual
machine window? Is that the window where all the settings for sharing the
hard disk and other devices are located?

Would I have been more successful had I installed Windows 7 under Fusion 2.0
which is what came in the cd version of the software and then upgraded my
Fusion to version 3.0? Has anyone installed any windows under 3.0 yet?

Hi listers,
Having just acquired fusion 3, I thought I would pass my experiences
along with voiceover. For the most part, everything remains
accessible. However, when running and using your virtual machine,
there is no longer a scroll area. Thus, you cannot VO to the area and
start using the keyboard to control the VM. Instead, it is necessary
to highlight the virtual machine window, turn voiceover off, and hit
command plus G to direct input to the virtual machine. After this,
turn voiceover back on, and everything works as expected.
Note: I seem to have a similar problem even when running win XP in
full screen mode. Voiceover does not seem to yield keyboard control
initially to the virtual machine. To fix this, turn VO off when you
highlight your virtual machine window for the first time. Next, turn
it on again, and everything works from there on out. Note: You can
even command tab to other applications, and when you come back, the
keyboard will control your virtual machine as expected.
Kind of quirky, but it works just fine and seems to be a bit faster
than version 2 as well.

Hth

John

The drive is formatted as Fat 32. It contains about 200Gb of material

Thanks for the encouragement.

It'll be a piece of cake. Just plug it in, and your MacBook will
recognize it. Is it already full of stuff? Do you know how it is
formatted? (I made the move from the Windows world to the Mac at the
end of last year and have learned a bit along the way, but the thing
I've found more than anything else is this: Things in this world
really are way easier and more sensible -- and more accessible! --
than they were in that one.) Also, this is a good group, so you'll
likely find help here. Have fun.

Do you have some reason to think that it won't? Like, it's formatted
in some particularly strange way or something?

Which MacBook To Buy?

2009-09-20 Thread Debra Turner
I have been looking at Macbook Pro models and Macbooks. The MacBook pro is
about $200 or higher in price than the Macbook. I have been looking at the
13.3 inch model with the 2.5 ghz speed processor. It seems the Macbook
pro is lighter weighing only 4.5 pounds. Are their other differences
between the two? Can I use the track pad with VoiceOver?

Also are these 64 bit or 32 bit machines? I would really like to buy the
right model the first time!

Thanks for any advice.

Debra
