Alternatives for Droptext.

2011-06-19 Thread Jesper Holten

Hi all.
I have just started working with droptext and although its nice I wonder if
there are other alternatives for text editors on the IOS platform worth
exploring. One thing bothering me with droptext is that it takes some
keypresses to get into a file that you want to work on? Also I really hope
that one day, preferably right now would be nice, it would be possible to
get an app that remembers where you last left a document so you easily can
continue writing. The I-pad-pod-phone is stil some way from being a
notetaker substitute. But maybe I am wrong and just have not found the
right app.

Best regards, Jesper.

Have Imac want trackpad.

2010-05-22 Thread Jesper Holten

Hi all.
I have been browsing through the archive of the list in search for the
solution to the following:
I got an Imac for which I am happy, I also got an ipod touch which I also
Like. I see there are programs out there that might or might not be able to
make my ipod touch in to a trackpad that I can use with voiceover with
trackpad commander.
Are there any one who has succeeded in actually been using the ipod as a
trackpad with Voiceover?

And how did they accomplish this?
THank you in advance,
/Jesper.

Ipod touch as a touchpad.

Hi everyone and soon to be happy new year.
I have a ipod touch, and I am wondering if I can use it as a touchpad for my
imac computer, just like you guys with the mac books can with your multi

to do gestures on my macs voiceover?
If so, how do I go about installing it?

I can't get the hang on smart playlist.

2009-10-30 Thread Jesper Holten

Hi all.
I have just bought an ipod touch and now I need to put my library of music
on the ipod. However, since I have my musuc collection in Aif format I need
to convert to another format, either lossless or aac or mp3 in order to fit
it on my ipod.
Thus far, I have converted to aac all my files, in the way that there exists
one big library with all aif and aac files in the same library.
I would like to accomplish 2 smart playlists one containing all my Aif
files, the other containing my aac files. After research on the net I have
found out that Maybe it can be done, but I just cannot get it to work, when
I try to make a smart playlist.
After interacting with the rules section of the dialobogx what parameters
to set. I have tried diffferent things, but after concluding the setup
Itunes says that nothing has been put into the rule.
If any of you could help me with some step-by-step instructions, I will
greatly apprreciate your help.
Kindest regards, Jesper.

Hi Jesper,

If you simply want iTunes to find your music again, and are not
worried about trying to recover playlists, then you can just use "Add
to Library…" (Command-O) and point to your current iTunes Music folder
(e.g., ~/Music/iTunes) as the folder to be added.

iTunes stores the database information for your Music library in two
files under your user account. On a Mac these are:
~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Library
~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music Library.xml

The first file is a binary format file that iTunes works with. The
second (.xml) file is a version of the first file that third-party
software programs can work with, that contains much (but not all) of
the same information. When you first open iTunes, it will look for
these files. If they are not present, then iTunes will create these
files (which will have no entries). If you have a copy of the "iTunes
Music Library.xml" file from a backup, you can force iTunes to rebuild
its "iTunes Library" file with the contents of the "iTunes Music
Library.xml" file by opening the newly created "iTunes Library" file
in an editor like TextEdit, deleting everything, and then saving the
file. Note that it does not work to delete the file, since iTunes
will just create a new version of this file, reflecting a blank
library, the next time you open iTunes. If you then replace the
existing .xml file (i.e., "iTunes Music Library.xml") with your backup
version (by deleting the newly created "iTunes Library.xml" file and
copying your backup version to this directory), then the next time you
open iTunes it will rebuild the "iTunes Library" file using the
contents of your "iTunes Library.xml" file. What this means is that
all the information about your playcounts, ratings, playlists, etc.
will be reconstructed. The only thing that will different is that the
information about the date the tracks were added to your library will
be lost -- they will all show up as being added at the time you forced
iTunes to rebuild its database.

This method only works well if the music tracks are in the same
location as they were when you made the backup of your "iTunes Music
Library.xml" file -- which does not appear to be the case here, since
you've moved your tracks from the the external drive to Macintosh HD.
However, if you really want your music tracks to be stored on your
external drive, the tracks are still there, and you have an old copy
of your "iTunes Music Library.xml", perhaps from a Time Machine
backup, then you can use the method I outlined above to restore your
library. Otherwise, it might be easiest to just use "Add to
Library" (Command-O) and type or paste:
~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music
into the dialog window prompt (assuming that is where you've copied
your music). Then iTunes will simply recreate the library data base
when it adds your music. You will lose the information on playlists
and also playcounts and ratings, I think, but the other information
will all be there. It's possible to edit the backup "iTunes Music
Library.xml" and use "Find and Replace" to change the file paths of
all your music from the external to your current music location, but
that can be rather tedious. (Maybe somebody should write a script or
automator workflow for this problem; it should be possible to shell
script this easily enough.) In any case, one of these solutions
should work for you.

The easiest thing might be just to add all your current tracks on the
Macintosh HD to your iTunes Library. Make sure that these tracks are
somewhere in your folder
~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music
folder before you "Add to Library" with Command-O. It doesn't even
matter if the tracks are not organized by structure of Artist and
Album -- iTunes will reorganize this correctly from your tag
information when it adds the tracks and move the files to the proper
location within this directory. The main point is that if you are
adding your tracks from some other location, iTunes will copy versions
to the "iTunes Music" folder when it adds the tracks, thus doubling
the amount of space that is occupied. This assumes that you have the
default iTunes preference settings for the advanced pane of iTunes
preferences with the boxes checked for "Keep iTunes Music folder
organized" and "Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to
Library". You can check your settings by opening the preferences menu
with Command-comma, and navigating to the "Advanced

Wondering about convertion of Aiff files to compressed files for ipod

2009-09-09 Thread Jesper Holten

Hi everybody.
With the release of Ipod touch, I now have to face the issue of converting
my itunes library to something that is handled nicely on the Ipod. My itunes
Library files are uncompressed Aiff files, and I will have to convert that
into e.g. Aac compressed audio that plays on the ipod. Is that done
automaticly when syncing the ipod with my Imac or do I have to do something
to ease the process?
Thanks for any help you can provide!

Hi. That is correct. Just like if you would have changed ram modules in a
physical computer, Jaws would need to get the authorization done again.
Likewise, when you do it virtually in fusion.

Undownloaded podcasts in i-tunes.

2009-08-08 Thread Jesper Holten

Hi.

I try to use i-tunes to download podcasts, however, even though I have set
I-tunes to retrieve all episodes for a podcast it will only download the
latest episode. When I go down through the songs list voiceover will
announce undownloaded on each episode sequent to the first one in the songs
list. Have any of you any ideas how to solve this one?
It doesn't help to press enter on each episode? Or to refresh. What else can
I do?
Thanks in advance!
Jesper.

Hi.

You can just copy/paste to your harddrive. Choose the folder you wanna
copy, press command c, find your harddrive and paste it by pressing
command v.

Thank for your help. We just thought that since it was not on the list, then it
would not be supported either. And a google search told us that it was not
supported at least a while back. So thanks once again, and we'll get back to

Hi all.
Do any of you know by chance, if the braillewave display from handytech

that does not imply that it is not supported anyway.
I hope that it is possible to connect the display anyway!

  Hello,

The best way to get this fixed is to directly contact the people at
www.elgatto.com and let them know that their software doesn't work with
VoiceOver. I've sent in feedback for every point update, but if I'm the only
person providing constructive feedback, I'm honestly not worth the time and
effort it would take to make the interface accessible. Time costs cash in
business, and they need a business case to justify access. Should they need
such things? Probably not, but very few companies or individuals do the job
just because it is the "right thing to do." If enough people expressed
interest, and they came to the conclusion that making the software accessible
equals more customers, they'd do it for sure.

  Thanks,
  Ryan

The main screen of the program is not accessible. You have to access the
tools from the menu bar. The item chooser might give you some more information

I like GhostReader for long documents as it allows me to Pause, rewind, fast
forward and so on. It also works for most kinds of text documents.

Re: Mac mini

2009-04-12 Thread Jesper Holten

Hi.
All mac computers are intel based today, and therefore you can run windows
or linux or any other operating system that runs on intle computers in a
virtual machine.

Whether you buy a mac mini or mac book laptop depends on your requirements.

Be ware that the mini is the cheapest of the mac systems and that it comes
without mouse, keyboard and a screen.
While of corse the laptops and the Imac is fully configured machines with
everything contained such as a keyboard and screen.

Re: Vlc and eye tv question once again.

2009-04-06 Thread Jesper Holten

Hi.
What will be my setup as it looks now:
Imac 24
FIREDtV firewire external digital tv reciever that hooks up to my cable
provider using db c codec.

software might be eyetv 3 either as stand alone, or in conjunction with
front row via Pye tv plugin.
I plan to connect the imac to my hifi setup through the digital optical
output via tosslink, or maybe USB to an Hegel h100 stereo high-end
amplifier, and wall mounted speakers.
In the future Sonos or squeezebox and a nas server may be part of the
equation.

Any other suggestions would be greatly apreciated!

Ps. I have ordered but not yet gotten my Imac! So I am waiting anxiously for
the beast to arrive
Best,
Jesper.
