I find however that the google calendar app works better in chrome. However, I
can’t seem to find where the “more tools” option is to create the desktop
shortcut, any ideas?

Secondly, I have links on my PC desktop to perpetual meetings for the zoom
client. How would I duplicate similar on the mac’s desktop?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Re: Signing a document with adobe on Mac

2021-02-13 Thread Kerryann Ifill
Hi Sara,

Unfortunately, I have not a method to sign without sighted help, but here is
how to get the work started:

After opening the document navigate tot he toolbar and interact
Locate the “mark-up” option and press VO+space to activate.
Stop interacting with that toolbar and you will navigate to the “mark-up”
toolbar
Interact and locate the “sign” option
YOU will then be able to “write” your signature on the trackpad.

Here’s where the sighted help comes in when you need to place the signature in
the appropriate space.

If you have any questions please let me know.

Good luck!
Oh I forgot to mention, ask them if they could use dousing instead as that is
extremely simple.

Regards
Kerry

Frustrating combo boxes

2021-02-09 Thread Kerryann Ifill
Hi all,

Whenever I try to schedule a zoom meeting on the zoom website, the date combo
and the time combo are sources of ongoing frustration!
Each time I try to edit either, it never registers.

Not sure how to change the outcome. Interacting doesn’t work. Directly entering
the appropriate entries neither.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Advice needed

2021-01-24 Thread Kerryann Ifill
Hi all:

I’m seeking some advice. I sent my Mac in for a battery replacement 2 weeks ago
and since its return my internet connectivity seems diminished.

Someone suggested I should reset to factory defaults. Oh I forgot I’m running
Catalina; having read the various issues on here with Big sur, I have decided
to stay away from it.

Any suggestions?

Well let’s see. If you go to the toolbar and choose the organise radio button.
Then you can VO+J to the format group area and activate the Sort Radio button
of the 3 buttons available.
Next move to the scroll area and you can choose sort now.

Worth it?

2020-11-14 Thread Kerryann Ifill
Hi all:

I have a 4-year-old MacBook and its currently demonstrating that it needs a new
battery.

I”m considering replacing the battery, but someone is suggesting that I
purchase a new Mac.

My Mac works koror the most part but whenever I try to use a virtual background
with zoom it suggests that my processor is inadequate. This unit hates
Microsoft teams and some apps have exhibited someone behaviours.

Any ideas as to when you know its time to purchase?

I know I’m getting another MacBook; I know I like the slimmer models; just
can’t decide.

Any thoughts?

Kerry

File sharing

Hi guys,

Here’s another question for you regarding using the zoom on the Mac.

I can review chats during a zoom meeting now thanks to Julie, but I still can’t
access any files if they are shared through the chat. Does anyone have any
suggestions?

Regards

Did I do something wrong?

2020-11-10 Thread Kerryann Ifill
Hi all:

I’ve been noticing a strange behaviour today. My Mac is no longer identifying
persons with their assigned name in my contact list. Eg. The phone number
234-6892 may be associated with John Brown in my contacts and on my iPhone it
will say “Joh brown” is calling or if it’s someone who has a specific tone
associated then it would ring that way. Now it just calls out the number
without the contact name or single.

What did I do wrong?

Theiphone contacts are fine, but not not he Mac. I ran the latest Catalina
update that came out yesterday and it started doing this. Any suggestions for a
fix?

Thanks
Kerry

Zoom on the Mac with chat!

2020-11-04 Thread Kerryann Ifill
Hi all,

I really do prefer using zoom on my Mac with 2 exceptions.

The screen share which I spoke about last time.

The other issue that I’d love see work is reviewing the chat messages
especially if someone shares a file with me.

Any suggestions?

Kerry

Re: Navigating by page/discovering page number in Voice Dream Reader?

2020-10-20 Thread Kerryann Ifill
Hi again,

I found page on the navigation unit lit right after paragraph, so not sure why
yours is being naughty.

As to discovering the page number, if you flick past the length of time
remaining in the document you’re currently reading, you will hear a bit about
which page you’r eon and how many pages there ar eint he document. Now this
does not mean that you will know which page of the book you’re on. What I mean
is that your document may have 25 physical pages, but the first 3 may be roman
numerals and page 4 is in actuality page 1 if you take my meaning.

Others may have better advice for you onthisone, but hope I’ve started some
wheels turning.

Re: Selecting text in Voice Dream Reader?

2020-10-19 Thread Kerryann Ifill
Hi Kathren,

Its a bit finicky, but it does work.
Flick the button that says to select text startat …
Double-tap there, then flick down with 1 finger to select by word or 3 fingers
and it will select in chunks until you want to stop.
Then double tap and a menu will come up and choose copy and then go where you
need to paste it.

If you need any help, I can set up a quick zoom call if you need.

Weird Focus Issue

2020-10-12 Thread Kerryann Ifill
Dear list members:

I’vebeen having a problem with Mac and zoom and after sourcing some sighted
assistance gains better understanding of where the issue is, I’ve come back to
the list to ee if someone can help guide me out of this conundrum

When using the zoom conferencing platform, , if I start a screen share, and
move focus to the app I’m sharing, whether by using app chooser or command+tab,
Voiceover behaves as though I’m still in the zoom meeting window.

So for example, if I’m sharing thematic app, pressing spacebar usually starts
and stops the track it reactsasif I’m on the zoom meeting page. Sometimes if I
deactivate VoiceOver and then turn it bacon the focus will work, but not
always.
Also, if I’m working with keynote, advancing slides either freezes giving me
that “thunk” sound meaning nothing doing or simply nothing at all.

Any ideas on how to work around this issue.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Kerry

2020-09-29 Thread Kerryann Ifill
Hi list:

Should I be panicking? My Mac 2015 (the one with only one usb port) has started
exhibiting from odd behaviour.

I can’t work with t unplugged before simply cuts out. Thing is that when I plug
it in it immediately comes back on and shows battery level at more than
reasonable levels.

Any ideas on what could be wrong?

I’vebeen trying to transfer a play list to my iPhone and that nigh impossible
as I only know how to do this with the phone connected via cable.

Any thoughts?

Combo boxes on Safari

I’ve been rather distressed recently with the combo boxes on safari. The zoom
website for scheduling meetings won’t let me adjust the dates and times and
the Microsoft forms site has been also disturbing.

Any ideas?

Re: Zoom on a Mac

2020-08-23 Thread Kerryann Ifill
Then go in to settings on the phone
Locate the item that shows your account - its the first item on mine.
Navigate to the option for “display name” and activate.
You should represented with your currently displayed name in there, clear it
and add what you need.

This will show up on all devices that use your devices once you have saved it.

You could change it on the web site, but as that’s a bit involved, let me know

desktop client itself. If you are running Zoom on your desktop computer, log in
to Zoom, then click on your profile photo in the upper-right corner, select
Settings from the drop-down list, and click Keyboard Shortcuts.

Transferring MP3 files to my iPhone

Hi all,

This exceedingly simple task prior to Catalina, is now an unexplainable
nightmare!
Could someone please help me figure out how to transfer an MP3 file from my
music app on the Mac to my iPhone please?

I thought I had it covered, but now I’m just as ignorant as I was yesterday!

Thanks again.

Re: Mantis Q40?

2020-08-06 Thread Kerryann Ifill
Hello all,

I’m very new to the group tough I’ve had a Mac for some years now.
I’m about to purchase the Chameleon as I prefer compact sized displays and my
old Varioultra20 is indicating that it wants to go to the big braille display
bin in the sky!

I’m looking forward to learning more about t the product and will hopefully
love this unit as much as my other 2 displays.
