Re: Ripping DVDs for streaming from apple TV.
Hi, You might want to hold off on buying DVD Remaster Pro as it will probably tell you that any DVD you try to rip is encrypted... the FAQ helpfully tells you that most commercial DVDs are protected by CSS, that the law probably allows you to make backup copies but it's not clear and therefore the software has been "hobbled" to cover the authors. Does anyone know a way around this or have I blown my £35? Mission Control and Spaces in Lion
Hello all, I've been playing around with creating and using extra desktops/spaces but can't see how you can remove an empty one. Obviously they don't do any harm - you can forget they're there - but I'm sure there must be a way to close them when no longer needed? Dashboard Stickies in Lion
Hi, Has anyone any experience of using the Stickies widget in the Lion Dashboard with VoiceOver? I can get the widgets menu through VO-F2-F2 and get the Sticky option from the menu, but as far as I can tell this just has a single text field and and Info button. I'm assuming it's possible to create multiple notes on the screen; how do I navigate between these, edit or delete them etc.? Re: Fusion 4 and Window-Eyes
Hi guys, Just to add to the council of despair: I've been having similar problems with a Windows XP virtual machine and Window Eyes 7.5 after upgrading to Fusion 4. Whether I upgrade the VM or not (I think this has more to do with the Mac side rather than within Windows itself, as VMWare Tools upgrades itself regardless of this choice), I get to the stage of Window Eyes wanting to reboot having discovered there's been a new graphics driver installed, then Windows restarts and I get the blue screen of death during the reboot, it then restarts and sticks on the XP startup splash screen. I've now reverted to a backup of the virtual machine a few times, trying: - cancel Tools upgrade, remove Window Eyes, reboot, let the Tools upgrade, reboot and install WE again - repeat the above, but use my original WE 7.1 installation disk rather than the upgraded 7.5 one. In both cases the same thing happens. I'm going to try building a new XP VM tomorrow that has never seen Window Eyes, then install it and see how it goes, maybe will try a Win7 VM also, but I can't say I'm particularly hopeful. Failing this will just have to accept I've blown the £40 I spent on the Fusion 4 upgrade and put version 3 back on. Real shame as I've been a happy Fusion+WE user for a couple of years and this is literally the first problem I've had. Anyone had any more positive experience? Scanners and OCR
Hello all, Would like to get some advice on using scanners with a Mac (running Lion if this is relevant). I occasionally need to scan printed documents to send by email or for archival purposes. Does Mac OS have its own utility or app for working with a scanner or are we reliant upon manufacturer's own drivers/software (which, from past experience on Windows, is very hit and miss as far as accessibility is concerned). Also, what experience do people have of scanning a document and using OCR to get VoiceOver (or whatever) to read out the contents of the document? Page Up/Down
Hi all, Is there a keyboard shortcut to "page up" and "page down" through the contents of a mailbox in Apple Mail? On a full-sized keyboard I know there'd be Page Up/Down keys but I'm using an MBP that doesn't seem to have the equivalent. Sure this is a really simple question but I've been using a Mac for 2 years now and still haven't found the solution, and navigating backwards and forwards through a folder with nearly 4,000 messages in it is an absolute pain at the moment.
