Re: Battery Life on IOS 7

I personally don't have a battery issue with Ios7, on a 4, and 5...
What are the usage stats saying?

Also, has the people experiencing the drainage tried doing a complete

I.E, do a restore, and then do not sync your device for a day or 2 to
see if the battery acts any different?

genuine. But, the overwhelming majority are not.

Let us step back and think what happens when we get a major update. For
the majority of us, usage goes up. At least in the short term. If there
was a chart out there, I bet you would see a usage spike right after
major updates. Everyone wants to check out all the new features,
improvements, etc. So naturally, the battery is getting used a whole lot
more. At least, more than you normally do. Give it 1 month. 95% of bad
battery claims will mysteriously go away. If you want, do a google
search for battery issues going back the last 5 years. There all about
updates that kill battery life. But yet, you rarely ever find this in
the middle of a refresh cycle for the OS. I know, some will say “That’s
because Apple has fixed the battery trouble with minor maintenance
updates.” This could be true. But, only once, in 5 years of using IOS
do I remember Apple putting out an update that specifically mentioned
 fixing a battery issue.

the battery issue and VO not working very well in lists for Downcast and

Re: Deleting audible books in iTunes for Donna

2012-12-03 Thread Taylor Scott
I have the exact 180 problem. lol
I'm Using a mac too, when deleting 1 book, (Using the delete key) it
deletes every book from the mac.
Before, I would just open the book I wish to delete, do cmd + A to
select all, then tap the backspace key to delete.
Doing the same steps, all books are sent to the trash. :(
I'm also experencing other weird iTunes11 issues though.

this is going to sound obvious, but are you interacting with the books

realized that while it said the book was selected I wasn't interacting.
There has to be a reason why this is happening and hopefully somebody can
get to the bottom of it. But it can't be that iTunes has been changed not to
allow deletion of audible books or nobody would be able to do it, which I
know may not seem very encouraging at this point. Also, did you try the list
radio button instead of the audiobooks radio button?

i chose books from the pop-up. At first I then chose audiobooks from the
radio buttons but when I interacted I had some trouble making sure I only
had one book selected. Not wanting to accidentally delete all audibooks I
then chose list from the radio buttons. But later I was also able to
select with the audiobooks radio button chosen.

In both cases, I did vo-shift-m which brought up a context menu. One of
the choices was delete. I was asked if I really wanted to delete. In
the case of doing it from list only one part of an audiobook was
selected but when deleting using the audiobooks radio button all parts of
a book were chosen so that's why when using the audiobooks radio button
and deleting a book with more than one part you'll be asked if you want
to delete the selected audiobooks. I confirmed that I wanted to delete
and was asked if I wanted to keep the files or move them to trash. I made
my choice and the book was deleted.

Two things I have noticed. First, I have had no luck with either

Secondly, whenever I attempt to drag and drop, VO immediately switches

Re: Fleksy

2012-08-19 Thread Taylor Scott
Is it the accuracy of the words, or the speed that is giving you problems?

I know for me it took some getting used to, to be fast with it.
You spend a few years listening for a key, and with this app, the key
is to quickly tap in the general direction of the key, and continue
on.
I still hesitate some when tiping, it's just habit.
To get the best results is to try to tap the keys as fast as you can,
and let Fleksy do it's work and guess the word. Of corse it's first
guess may not be right, but once you get the speed down and flicking
through the suggested words, I think you'll start to notice the apps

The great thing is that even if it doesn't guess the right word, you can
flick down to get other suggestions. Unless the word isn't in its built-in

That is why you can just wildly guess, touching somewhere in the general

that's enough to get the word to come up. Now I'm able to text just as

I thought the same things.
Actually, having to coppy and paste is in my opinion it's only down
side, but it isn't the app developers fault, its a limitation of
apple's.

I don't have dictation, but even if I did, I'd still have this app.
It really is fast enough to coppy and paste, and still be faster than
trying to write out something on the normal keyboard.
I look at it as another option to dictation if you have it.
Just leave Fleksy open, and if you need to type something, use the app
switcher, write out your message, coppy, switch to the app, and paste.

I'm glad I gave it a chance.

Re: Fleksy

2012-08-18 Thread Taylor Scott
Exactly, and I know some are strapped for cash, but I mean, it's $15,
and your using an iOS device.
$15 is a fast food meal, and then it's gone, this applacation saves
you time, for a long time to come.

Just giving those who are on the fince more things to think about.
Oh, and Fleksy is now $9.99 I believe, so you missed the $4.99 sale.

So, thats what, 2 starbucks drinks? lol

On 8/18/12, Ricardo Walker rwalker...@gmail.com wrote:
 Yup.

Like I've said to some before, I think $15 is a tough price point regardless
of how great a keyboard is. And trust me, this is great. But, price aside,
This is one of the most useful 3rd party apps on my iPhone. There are times
when dictation just isn't practical. Like when typing confidential
information or, in a loud or subdued environment. I've found that the time
it take to copy and paste my text from fleksy is negated because I'm typing
up to 50% faster with fleksy than the regular IOS virtual keyboard.

Actually, having to copy and paste is in my opinion it's only down
side, but it isn't the app developers fault, its a limitation of

I don't have dictation, but even if I did, I'd still have this app.
It really is fast enough to coppy and paste, and still be faster than
trying to write out something on the normal keyboard.
I look at it as another option to dictation if you have it.
Just leave Fleksy open, and if you need to type something, use the app
switcher, write out your message, coppy, switch to the app, and paste.

 I'm glad I gave it a chance.

called dropbox. Open that and you'll get an accessible install. Once
everything is set up, everyone is right; just browse your dropbox through

go to start it. ITunes is acting like I have 2 libraries. Possibily
 this

is where I'm running into trouble with .XML and .ITL. If I'm suppose to
change the name of .XML, I don't know how to go about it.

Any help is appreciated. I definitely want to get this sorted out
 before
I make too many changes, by syncing devices and making purchases.

 Thank you all,
 Traci

Re: transfer iTunes library issues

2011-09-03 Thread Taylor Scott
In my experience using enter to open iTunes will stop this.
When you use VO space, sometimes the option key can be held down to long, which
is the key you hold while opening iTunes to choose or create a library.

Ok, last week, I thought I was so successful in transferring my iTunes

Re: guitar amp software?

2011-08-25 Thread Taylor Scott
Yeah, pretty sure you could do this with Garageband.
I'm still new to all this, so can't give details other than it is
doable. Maybe hit up youtube?

 Hi all
I am wondering if any software exists for the mac to let me plug
my guitar into the mac (via a DI box or basic amp) and apply

Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

Re: guitar amp software?

Hmm, I'm fairly sure you can only apply affects to a recording in Garageband...

Thanks. It looks like you can record and apply effects later, but I'm
still not sure about live effects. That is, I'm not sure if you can
apply effects as you play or only to recordings.
